Synopsis
In a city where humans and mutants live side by side, three brothers are born on a stormy night under circumstances their mother will never forget. Kane, Kade, and Kian are triplets who look almost identical, but each carries something unusual within him. As they grow older, strange abilities begin to surface—abilities that force their mother to realize that her sons may never have an ordinary life. She does everything she can to protect them. But life doesn't give them much time. After losing the only person who ever truly kept them together, the brothers are left to survive on their own. With nowhere to go and nobody to depend on, they slowly learn to use their abilities to steal what they need. At first, the jobs are small. Food. Money. Things they can sell. But the brothers discover that they're surprisingly good at it. They don't rush. They don't leave unnecessary evidence. And because they can disappear and change their appearances, witnesses can never agree on what they actually saw. Then one day, a wealthy and mysterious man enters their lives. Unlike the criminals they've encountered, he doesn't want to exploit them. Instead, he offers them something they have never had before: a chance to live on their own terms. He gives them information, equipment, resources—and eventually the matching black suits that become their signature. Their robberies become bigger. Their reputation grows. And soon, the city gives them a name: The Smooth Criminals. But fame comes with a price. The government wants them captured. Bounty hunters begin tracking them. Rival mutants see them as competition. Criminal organizations want to use them. And with every successful job, the bounty on their heads grows larger. The brothers only wanted enough freedom to build a life together. Now they're being hunted for reasons they don't fully understand. As their path crosses with powerful people, hidden organizations, and secrets buried beneath the city's history, the brothers begin to realize that their lives may be connected to something much bigger than crime. Something their mother may have known about. Something powerful people have spent years trying to keep hidden. And eventually, Kane, Kade, and Kian will have to decide whether they are going to keep running from the world— or find out why the world is so afraid of them. Three brothers. Three different powers. One unbreakable bond. And a city that will never look at them the same way again.

Chapter 1 - They night they came

The rain had been falling for nearly three hours.

It came down hard against the metal roofs of the city, turning the narrow streets into rivers of dirty water. Neon signs flickered above crowded sidewalks while people hurried beneath umbrellas, coats pulled tightly around their bodies.

But deep behind the bright streets and expensive buildings, there was another side of the city.

An alley.

A broken streetlamp hung above a pile of soaked cardboard. Beside it, beneath the shallow shelter of an old concrete staircase, a woman lay curled against the cold wall.

Her name was Mara.

She was twenty-seven years old, exhausted, soaked, and very close to giving birth.

She pressed one hand against her stomach and tried to control her breathing.

"Please..." she whispered.

Another contraction came.

Mara bit down on her lip to stop herself from screaming.

There was nobody with her.

No husband.

No doctor.

No family waiting nearby.

Just the rain.

And three lives that refused to wait for morning.

Mara had spent most of her pregnancy moving from one cheap shelter to another. When the money disappeared, the shelters disappeared with it. She had learned how to sleep with one eye open and how to make a meal last two days.

But tonight was different.

Tonight, she couldn't run.

She pushed herself against the wall and looked toward the entrance of the alley.

"Somebody..."

Her voice disappeared beneath the thunder.

Then she screamed.

A few streets away, an elderly woman named Mrs. Bell was closing the shutters of her small food stall.

She stopped.

For a moment, she thought she had imagined the sound.

Then she heard it again.

A woman's scream.

Mrs. Bell grabbed her umbrella.

"Who is out there in this weather?"

She followed the sound through the rain.

When she reached the alley, she found Mara lying beneath the staircase.

"Oh, Lord."

Mrs. Bell immediately dropped her umbrella and rushed toward her.

"Young woman! Can you hear me?"

Mara opened her eyes.

"Please..."

"I'm here. Don't worry."

"I... I can't..."

"I know. I know."

Mrs. Bell removed her coat and placed it over Mara's shoulders.

"Where is your family?"

Mara shook her head.

"I don't have anyone."

Mrs. Bell looked at her stomach.

Then another contraction hit.

Mara cried out.

"All right," Mrs. Bell said. "We're going to get you through this."

The storm raged above them.

Minutes passed.

Then, suddenly, the first cry pierced through the rain.

A baby.

Mrs. Bell smiled.

"It's a boy."

Mara's exhausted face softened.

"My baby..."

Mrs. Bell placed the child carefully against her.

But before either woman could speak again, another cry came.

Mrs. Bell froze.

"Wait..."

Another baby.

Then another.

Her eyes widened.

"Three?"

Mara stared at her.

"Three?"

"Yes."

For the first time that night, Mara laughed.

It was weak and breathless, but it was real.

"Three boys..."

Mrs. Bell looked down at the newborns.

Something about them felt unusual.

The first child opened his eyes.

They were deep red.

The second opened his.

Bright blue.

Then the third.

Green.

Mrs. Bell slowly looked at Mara.

"Mara..."

But Mara was already staring at her sons.

She reached out with trembling fingers and touched each tiny face.

"My boys."

The thunder cracked above them.

For a brief moment, the streetlight flickered.

Then all three babies began crying at exactly the same time.

Mara pulled them closer.

"They're beautiful."

Mrs. Bell smiled.

"Have you chosen their names?"

Mara looked at the three children.

She thought for a moment.

Then she whispered,

"Kane."

She touched the first.

"Kade."

Then the second.

"And Kian."

The three names disappeared into the sound of the rain.

Outside the alley, the city continued moving.

Cars passed.

People laughed beneath umbrellas.

Nobody knew that three boys had just entered the world.

Nobody knew what they would become.

And nobody could have imagined that one day, the same city would whisper their names with fear.

But for tonight, they were simply three newborn brothers lying in their mother's arms.

And Mara held them as tightly as she could.

Because somewhere deep inside her, she already knew one thing.

The world would not be kind to them.

So she would have to be.
