Charybdis POV
CYOA… Choose Your Own Adventure. This really brings back memories, how I used to search for new perks just for fun in various jumpchains.
Tensura CYOA, huh… If I use it, will I go to another Tensura world or stay here? As soon as the question forms in my mind, the answer automatically appears that both options are available. But if I choose the former, some options will be removed, like choosing race or origin, because those are already set.
1,000 Choice Points, standard. Let's see what perks I can get.
Hmm… I've been given Reincarnator as the background and my species is Spiritual Dragon. At least it didn't automatically deduct points. Does that mean the CYOA knows my history?
Oh, there is an option to add a second race, basically becoming a hybrid. True Dragon and Dragonoid are both listed.
"It is possible to become a Hybrid of a True Dragon and another race, which basically means that you acquire a True Dragon Factor and become a sub-species of the True Dragons that adds the power and advantages of a True Dragon to your other species' characteristics. Being a Hybrid of a Dragonoid and another race would mean that your True Dragon parent had a relationship with something other than a human."
Although it costs only 100 points, it honestly isn't worth it, since I already spawned from Veldora's magicules. And I need to save points because there are many perks I want to buy.
"You may discount 3 perks of each price tier, except for the 800 CP tier, of which you can only discount one perk. Discounted 100 CP perks become free. If a perk has multiple tiers, you can discount either tier, unless otherwise stated."
Not bad. Now, let's select the perks.
Voice of the World is free, but to take its effects to other worlds I need 300 CP. I ponder for a few seconds before buying it. It's worth it, since I can not only give its benefits to others in different worlds but also convert abilities into skills.
Aura Control for 200 CP. It prevents me from leaking energy without backlash, and it can also fool others about my power level.
Life Looking Into the Abyss is 600 CP and lets me have any number of skills without causing my soul or body to collapse.
Soul Tunneler for 400 CP allows me to form a soul corridor with anyone.
Hmm… I can't buy the perk that would make me Veldenava's child.
Let me check what is next. Oh fuck.
"Unlimited Name Works (600 CP)
In this world, names have power. Naming gives and takes massive amounts of energy, connects souls, grants blessings, and can even grant life and sapience. Normally, naming can permanently drain the namer, sometimes for someone not even guaranteed to be loyal. But now, just for naming only, you have infinite mana. You can name millions of people a day without even getting tired. This does nothing for your actual mana and only works for naming. You can name others in future jumps even without the System, and you can even name humans."
There is no way I'm missing that.
Then there's The Miracle of Evolution for 400 CP, which allows me to evolve using any form of energy instead of magicules. It also means my different forms can evolve separately, like this dragon form and any future direwolf form.
Now then… let's check how much all of this costs before adding anything else.
300, 200, 600, 400, 600, 400… yeah, that's a problem. Time to apply discounts.
300 → 200 → 100 → 0
200 → 100 → 0
400 → 200 → 100
400 → 200
600 → 300 → 150
600 → 300
Now I'm left with 250 points. Let's move to the item section.
For 100 CP, Otherworldly Cooking Supplies gives me monthly shipments of top-grade Earth food, enough to stock several large restaurants for weeks. I don't need to eat to live, but I'm buying it anyway. I want to taste food again, and this kingdom's culture leans toward raw food. Plus, I can let Milim taste some good stuff too. Since I can still apply a discount, it becomes free.
Time to move to the skill section, since I don't have anything else I truly need from items. There are useful items, but I need points for skills.
Oh no… I can't buy any Ultimate Skills, they cost 800 CP. Even Unique Skills cost 400.
Do I have to remove some perks?
No. They're too good long-term.
I was hoping for Great Sage and Predator, but it looks like I can't get the Rimuru treatment.
Let's buy another perk, then.
Sapient Skill for 200 CP, it will cost 0 after the remaining tier discounts. It allows me to give my skills their own egos and personalities.
Finally, I take two more perks, each costing 100 CP from the remaining points, bringing my total to 0. One removes the negative aspects of having children, like losing power. I don't need it anytime soon, but it's good to have. The other is Tough Love, originally 200 CP, but I had 100 leftover CP from the separate gacha pool. I checked if it works and yes it does. Now I'm wondering if I should've waited before instantly buying the gacha perks… but no, they were worth it. I could take drawbacks to gain more points, but I don't want to.
[Tough Love - What a great teacher you are. You have become attuned to the training methods of some of the most skilled monsters around. That is, getting people to become stronger by continuously beating them over and over.
And you are so considerate that you can easily limit yourself to just beat them 'close to death', rather than outright killing them. However, if you were to gain a method that would allow you to revive your students, you could even improve your results even further by actually training them to death.
Somehow, it seems that those who train under this method not only manage to get stronger in an a short timeframe, but they also avoid things such as getting traumatized by the experience.]
Hmm it's good skill but it's true potential can only be possible with machochist. Although there's no traumatizing but I still need to consider their pain and emotions.
I also got a free perk from the CYOA: anyone who has a soul corridor with me or is named by me can travel with me to other worlds. Good…
