3 months had passed since the Smith's Village accident. All of them had healed by now‚ and Kaito continuing to train each day and attending missions.
Kaito walks up the stairs to a deserted temple.
"That's where the demon must be hiding.."
Kaito enter inside first notice nothing. "Hm?"
Suddenly a for legged demon jumps from behind but Kaito moved away quickly and slashing through one of it's leg serving it. "There you are!"
The demon runs away from the temple at fast speed as Kaito chase behind him. The demon runs towards a Village in the dark.
"At this point..he will be in the Village‚ I've to be quicker!" Kaito runs quickly but the demon manage to lose him as he hides into someone's farm house.
"Who does that human think he is chasing a demon like me!"
Suddenly Kaito stands in front of the doors raising him Katana. "I'm sorry."
"You human!" The demon jumps towards Kaito.
The owner of the house hear some noises as a woman and a young kid with a lantren goes to check inside the farm.
"What was that noise?"
They look inside to find nothing.
Meanwhile Kaito cross a bridge as he returns to the Soul Slayers village. "This would it for today's mission.
As Kaito moves towards his base and step inside he notice Captain Takuma sending against a wall his arms folded.
"You've been keeping busy Kaito-kun. We didn't got a chance to spar."
"Captain‚ you needed me?" Kaito asks.
"Not just you. I'm gathering a team."
Kaito looks confused or rather excited for a mission.
"A mission?"
Takuma says with a smirk. "A large one. Shibuya city."
The name struck Kaito‚ Shibuya. The place where night is like day. Full of lightning and fun.
Takuma continue. "We've heard strange news reports disappearance‚ distorted majutsu reading‚ entire patrol disappearing. We are sending five. You‚ your sister Hakari‚ Noboru‚ Renjuro‚ Noelle and lastly me."
"Wait‚ you too?" Kaito looks surprised since he never seen captains strength or went on a mission with expect Kazuki.
"You got a problem with it?"
"No‚ I am just surprised."
"Let's meet up with the rest of them at the eastern station. The train departs tonight."
"Understood."
Both of them walke together to the station and soon they booth reach the station and the train has already arrived.
Renjuro was waving his sword around like it was luggage‚ Noelle was scolding him for nearly cutting a lamp‚ and Noboru as always was complaining about something‚ and Hakari waving as Kaito walks towards them.
"Brother you're finally here." Hakari said hugging Kaito.
"Kaito! Long time no see‚ you look taller." Renjuro said.
"We just met yesterday." Kaito said with a smile.
"Kaito-kun look! I don't wanna on that mission because people disappeared! Do something." Noboru cried holding onto Kaito's arm.
"But we are going to Shibuya‚ I've been there once and it's so modern and lively. Even have cute girl." Hakari said with a smirk.
"Cute girls! And modern?! I guess I'll go.." All of them laughs at Noboru.
"Alright‚ it's time let's go everyone!" Captain Takuma said.
Inside the cabin‚ Kaito sat quietly by the window‚ watching the scenery blur by. His reflection in the window. Hakari sat besides him.
Across from them‚ Takuma sat with one leg corssed‚ flipping through a mission file with that usual detached focus. Noelle leaned back besides him‚ spinning a dagger between her fingers. Noboru sat between them‚ fidgeting‚ clearly uneasy.
"Let me just sit beside Kaito-kun instead...but what the mission this time?" Noboru asked breaking the silence.
Renjuro stood at the window. "Is this some fast running monster?! I wanna fight it!"
"It's just vehicle you dumbass." Noelle said.
Takuma looked up. "We've received reports of strange majutsu activity in Shibuya. Serval squads of Soul Slayers went missing. Our task is to investigate and if necessary eliminate whatever causing it."
Kaito's eyes shifter towards Takuma. "Eliminate..so not humans then? Because only demons has majutsu besides us 9% humans who has majutsu."
Takuma brow slightly up. "9%? But we don't have exact readings. How do you know?"
"Oh..uh just a guess you know‚ and
Renjuro-kun sit down already." Kaito said.
"Yes..yes." Renjuro sat down besides Kaito and Hakari.
Noelle stretched, letting out a small yawn. "It's been a while since we had a proper mission. I was starting to get bored."
"Bored?" Noboru muttered. "You mean you want to get dragged into another nightmare?"
Kaito chuckled under his breath. "Don't worry. Just stay close this time."
"Hey, that was one time!" Noboru shot back, making Noelle laugh softly.
Takuma finally closed the file and stood up, resting his hand on the train's rail. "Get some rest while you can. Once we reach Shibuya, things won't stay calm for long. That city's a maze even for locals."
The train gave a low whistle as it entered a long tunnel, swallowing the light. The windows turned black, and for a brief moment, everyone fell silent.
