Chapter 9 - CHAPTER NINE

A few days after I watched the video, I sat in my room surrounded by books and notes, thinking about my future. I had recently celebrated my 21st birthday and was feeling more confident and independent. Now, all I had to do was finish my degree and I would be ready to take on the world. Graduation was just around the corner, and I was excited to mark this milestone.

As I thought about my future, I started to think about my passions and interests. I had always loved music, and I had been playing the piano since I was a kid. I thought about how I could use my musical talent to make a difference in people's lives. I remembered the countless hours I spent practicing, the feeling of my fingers moving across the keys, and the sense of joy it brought me.

And then, it hit me. I could use my music in church services. I had always enjoyed singing and playing the piano during church services, and I knew it brought people joy and comfort. Maybe, just maybe, this could be a way for me to combine my passion for music with my desire to make a difference. I started to imagine myself playing the piano during a service, the music filling the room, and the smiles on people's faces.

I also thought about my future career, and I knew that I wanted to be a family lawyer. I had always been drawn to this field, and I knew that I could make a real difference in people's lives. I thought about the impact I could have, the lives I could change, and the families I could help.

As I thought about my future, I started to make plans. I knew that I wanted to go back to Nigeria after graduation and start my own law firm. I had always dreamed of having my own firm, and now I had the chance to make it happen. I was thinking of calling it AMA's Law Firm ( Adesuwa Modupeoluwa Àkànjí 's Law Firm in full).I liked the sound of that.

I couldn't wait to share my plans with my aunt. I quickly got up , grabbed my jotting note where I had scribbled all my ideas into and headed to her room. When I arrived, I was bursting with excitement. "Aunty, I have some news to share with you," I said, barely containing my enthusiasm.

My aunt looked at me with a curious expression, "What is it, dear?" she asked.

"I've been thinking about my future, and I know what I want to do," I said, taking a deep breath. "I want to be a family lawyer, and I want to start my own law firm in Nigeria after graduation."

My aunt's face lit up with a big smile. "That's wonderful, Adesuwa! I'm so proud of you," she said, giving me a warm hug. "That's the perfect plan. You're going to do great things, I just know it."

She prayed for me, wishing me success and God's guidance as I embarked on this new journey. I felt a sense of relief and reassurance after talking to her. I knew I had her support, and that meant a lot to me.

Next, I decided to call my mom. I was excited to share the news with her. When she picked up, I could hear the excitement in her voice. "Hello, my ọkọ mi! How are you?"

"I'm good, Mom. I just wanted to let you know that I'm coming home after graduation," I said, barely containing my excitement.

"Oh, that's wonderful news! We're all so excited to have you back home," she replied. "I'll start preparing everything for you."

I smiled, knowing that my mom was happy. "Thanks, Mom. I'll be home soon," I said, before greeting my dad.

"Hello, Bami," I said, trying to contain my excitement.

"Hello, my dear. I'm proud of you, since you haven't put the family's name to shame," he said, chuckling.

I laughed, feeling happy and relieved. I knew I had my family's support, and that gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams.

Then, I heard my mum's teasing voice; " Adesuwa, do you need me to come to US to pick you up this time?" She asked chuckling.

There would be no need for that I said almost instantly, I got my voice back from laughing.

As I hung up the phone, I felt a sense of peace. I knew that I was on the right path, and that everything would work out. I was going to graduate, start my own law firm, and use my music to make a difference in people's lives. I was excited for the future, and I knew that I was ready for whatever came next.
