Stephanie's POV
I checked everything in the picnic basket one more time. Sandwiches? Check. Juice boxes? Check. Cookies? Of course. A big blanket, sunscreen, and some extra hats in case it got too sunny. Perfect.
I put on a simple yellow dress. It was soft and comfortable. I pulled my hair up into a messy bun. I grabbed my car keys. Today was going to be a good day. A great day. No fighting. No Cane. Just me and my kids.
I drove to their school with the windows down. I was singing along to a silly song on the radio. The warm air felt nice on my face.
I parked the car and walked fast to the area where parents pick up their kids.
That's when I saw it.
A teacher, a tall woman with a mean face, was yelling at Josh. My sweet Josh. He was just standing there, trying to be brave. His little shoulders were so stiff. I could tell he was trying not to cry.
Jolina was right next to him. She had her hands on her hips.
