Chapter 81 - Deal.

"So, Emily... if you wouldn't mind," I tell Emily while moving her head a bit to stop her from sniffing me.

"I wouldn't mind! You can do anything to me!" she says, doing her best to resist pulling away from her.

With a sigh, I stop trying to pull her off and simply touch her forehead to cure her from what I did 100 years ago.

"Oh! Your hand's so big!" Emily says, wiggling her head into my hand more.

Well, at least she isn't resisting. Once I had a firm grip on her head, I began channeling the same energy the Radiance had used to cure the angels of Heaven.

As the energy flowed through my arms and into Emily, I checked on the small angel holding onto me, making sure she wasn't feeling any discomfort from the process, and to my relief, she didn't seem to be in pain.

Which was great and also mildly concerning, since as I continued the process of trying to rip away the effects out from her mind, I couldn't feel anything foreign from within her.

"Emily... do you feel any different?" I ask Emily, hoping anything had changed even slightly.

"Despite I'm holding on to my future husband? Nothing!" she says, snuggling more.

Husband? We just met.

"Emily... we aren't getting married. I just met you," I tell her, and using more force, pull her off me. I pick her up and hold her up with one hand in front of me.

"But... but why not?" she asks me, with small tears in her eyes.

"Emily... we just met, and I'm pretty sure you're not in the right state of mind right now."

"But I am! The moth lady told me yesterday!" she says, pouting.

"What?" I say, a bit confused.

"The moth lady told me that you were my soulmate and I should do everything in my power to do so!"

Okay... so the Radiance basically told me to fuck off, and now she makes things worse.

"Well... Emily, if you don't mind, could you tell me how you met this moth lady?"

"Only if you carry me like a princess."

"Why?"

"Why not?" Emily replies.

"Fine." Moving Emily, I place her in between my arms and carry her like a princess.

"Yay! Anyway, here's what happened: as I was flying home, helping and cheering up the angels, my vision suddenly went black and I was stuck in this really dark place with a giant white castle in the middle. I was really confused at first, but then the moth lady appeared in front of me."

"What did this moth lady say?" I ask her.

"I was getting to that! Anyway, when the moth lady appeared, she told me that if I married you, we could unite Heaven and Hell and stop the exterminations from happening!" she exclaimed before hugging me.

Huh, that would have been nice and all if I wasn't already dating Bee, but a political marriage between Heaven and Hell could serve as a bridge to unite the two realms.

As I thought about it more, I noticed Emily snuggling even more in my arms. She was cute, almost as cute as Charlie, but I couldn't take advantage of a girl whose mind isn't sound.

So, putting her down slowly, even though she tried to protest, I placed her down on one of the chairs and decided to explain her situation right now.

"Emily, right now your mind is being affected by my power, and it's making you act irrationally. And this whole idea you have of me marrying you... it's not real, so just go home."

I stood up and began walking toward the door once more, and almost immediately, locks began to form around it. I didn't bother looking back at Emily and simply continued to walk toward and through the door, breaking it off its hinges.

Once I was outside, I began walking toward the exit, but then I felt Emily grab and hold my arm, trying her best to stop me from leaving.

"No! I didn't wait a hundred years just for this moment for you to leave me again!" she screamed, tears falling from her eyes.

Feeling pitiful for the girl, I turned to her and gave her a hug.

"Emily, I know how much this means to you... but you can't marry me," I tell her straight.

"Please, just give it a chance! Please... please..." Emily's tears began to flow even more.

With a heavy sigh, I moved away from the hug and got on my knees to look at her straight in the eye.

"How about this: I'll come visit you up in Heaven once every month, and during my visit, if you can prove you're not... insane or being affected by the moth lady, then maybe, just maybe... I'll consider dating you, okay?"

Emily, wiping her tears, smiled. "Promise?" she asked, looking hopeful.

"Promise."

Emily, though seeming reluctant, turned from me and opened a portal back to Heaven. She took one more glance at me before stepping through.

Now that I was alone, I got up from my knees and began walking out of the embassy.

This was going to be really hard to explain to Mom and Dad, especially Bee.
