Davina's POV
I stepped through the company's exit, determined to avoid a repeat of this morning's incident.
The workday had stretched endlessly, sapping every bit of energy from me, but the instant I spotted Cooper by the school entrance, his radiant expression brightening as he caught sight of me, the weight pressing against my ribs began to ease.
He sprinted toward me, his tiny backpack jumping with each step.
"Mama!" he called out with pure delight, wrapping his small arms tightly around my middle.
I grinned, crouching down to lift him up, pressing him against my chest. I planted a soft kiss on his cheek. "I missed you, baby."
"I missed you too," Cooper replied.
Once we got home, we chose to prepare a meal together. Cooper demanded to participate, and I allowed him to. Though he remained little, he adored being part of everything.
Following our meal, Cooper retrieved his toys and stretched out on the floor, building his own miniature universe.
