He paused.
"The developmental monitoring," she said. "I've been running parallel documentation with Freda — her ambient readings and my medical assessments in the same session. The combined picture is more accurate than either individually." She paused. "Reva will need to learn that system."
"Build it into the training schedule," he said.
"I will," she said.

He found Lyra at the command post that evening and told her about the conversation.
She listened. She made two notes.
"I should have seen it," she said.
"You did see it," he said. "You've been watching the medical caseload numbers in the briefings."
"Watching isn't the same as acting on."
"No," he said.
She looked at the folio.
"Reva," she said.
"Yes."
"Reva is good," she said. "I reviewed her file after the war when I was building the settlement's capability assessment. I noted her instincts." She paused. "I didn't follow up either."
They sat with that for a moment.
The settlement ran its evening outside.
