Chapter 63 - 63

For someone like Elsa, who'd grown up adored, envied, and constantly surrounded by admirers, humiliation was a foreign thing.

But now — bound, bruised, and dragged across a filthy dorm hallway — she could barely recognize herself. Her cheeks burned from the slaps, but what terrified her most wasn't the pain.

It was what waited below.

Outside, the world had turned into a choking gray fog. Anyone thrown into it never came back. And Paige had just ordered her to be taken downstairs.

Her heart pounded like it wanted to break free.Is this really how I die?

Tears welled up and blurred her vision.Even now, even in this apocalypse, some part of her still clung to the idea that her life — her beauty, her charm — had meaning. That maybe, someone would save her.

But who?

Who would risk stepping into this den of monsters for her?

"Stop crying," Nina snapped, her voice dripping with jealousy. "You keep that up, I'll ruin that perfect little face of yours."

Elsa froze as Nina pulled out a key — sharp and rusted — from around her neck. The girl's eyes glimmered with cruel satisfaction.

"Let's see how pretty you are after this."

The key's edge came closer…Elsa could only watch in helpless horror as Nina raised her hand to strike—

Then—

"Room."

The word wasn't shouted. It wasn't loud. But it cut through the air like thunder.

Nina blinked. Her hand — the one holding the key — vanished from her wrist.

The key clattered to the floor.

"Ah! My—my hand!" Nina's scream shattered the room.

Paige and Jane, lounging across the room, shot upright, their eyes wide in shock.

"What the hell—?"

Elsa's tears froze midstream. Her breath caught.

Someone… saved me?

She turned toward the voice — and saw the air shimmer.

The broom leaning against the wall vanished in an instant, and in its place stood a man.

His build was lean but strong, his hair dark and tousled, and in his right hand glinted a small fruit knife. His eyes were calm — too calm — and cold enough to make everyone in the room shiver.

Elric.

He glanced at Nina, whose face was pale as chalk, and said quietly,"You could've stopped at the slaps. Why the face?"

His tone wasn't angry. It was worse — disappointed.

Elric had been watching from outside through his clairvoyant ability. He'd seen everything — from Elsa's capture to Nina's cruelty. He'd let it go at first; Elsa had betrayed him once, and he wasn't the type to interfere for sentiment.

But when Nina tried to scar her face —that crossed a line.

If Elsa's appearance was ruined, it might ruin her usefulness as a potential "adaptor," one of the few who could synchronize with his system.

That, Elric could not allow.

"He—he's a superhuman too!" Nina screamed. "He's trying to kill us!"

Paige's expression twisted into something ugly. "You think we're afraid of him?"

Jane rose beside her, eyes glowing faint gray. The two women shared a look — and nodded.

"He's alone," Jane said. "We can take him."

Paige's skin rippled — her entire body swelling outward until she became a grotesque sphere of muscle and fat, her limbs absorbed into the mass. The dorm floor creaked under her weight.

"Crush him!" she bellowed, and rolled forward like a living wrecking ball, the ground trembling beneath her.

At the same time, Jane's hands pulsed with gray light — and ropes of energy lashed out, wrapping around Elric's body, binding him tight.

"Got you," she hissed. "Now—die!"

The rolling mass of Paige's body hurtled forward like an avalanche, shaking the walls.Elsa shut her eyes.Even Elric's calm face was about to disappear beneath the crushing weight—

Then he simply lifted one finger.

And vanished.

There was a loud crash.

When Paige's massive form slammed down, it wasn't Elric beneath her.

It was Jane.

"Wait—Paige! Stop!" Jane screamed, but it was too late.

The impact shattered the dorm room door.Jane's scream echoed once, sharp and terrible, and then went silent.

Paige blinked, confused."What—Jane? How the hell—?"

Her eyes darted up — just in time to see Elric standing behind her, knife in hand, expression unreadable.

He sighed."You really should've stayed quiet."

Paige tried to move, but the air around her shimmered — gravity itself bending under Elric's power.

A flash of psychic light cut through the dorm.Paige's body convulsed, then fell — still, silent, and unmoving.

When the dust settled, the only sound in the room was Elsa's uneven breathing. She was trembling, eyes wide, staring at the man who'd just appeared from nowhere and ended everything in seconds.

Elric turned his gaze toward her.

Their eyes met.

"Can you stand?" he asked quietly.

Elsa tried — but her knees gave out halfway, and she collapsed, still staring at him like he was something unreal.

Elric sighed again, running a hand through his hair."I didn't plan to save you twice," he murmured.

Then he crouched down, cutting the psychic ropes around her wrists with a flick of the knife.

"Get up," he said, his voice low but steady."You're coming with me."
