In the girls' dormitory, two people now stood above everyone else.
Paige and Jane — the only ones in the building who had awakened supernatural powers.Because of their strength, the other girls treated them like queens.
Every day, someone massaged their shoulders.Someone else fetched food and supplies scavenged from abandoned rooms.Whatever they wanted, someone rushed to provide.
At this moment, inside the top floor suite — the cleanest and safest dorm in the building — Paige and Jane were lying comfortably on their beds.Around them, girls worked nervously, eager to please.
In front of them, a pile of food and drinks scavenged from the dorm's storage sat neatly arranged.
And kneeling on the floor before that food…were four terrified captives.
Jacob, Ryan, Matt, and Elsa — all people who once shared the same dorm with Elric.
They had planned to confront Elric this morning, steal his supplies, and claim his mysterious resources for themselves. But before they could even act, Elric himself sent a message:
"Wait for me in the girls' dormitory. I'll come to you."
They thought it was arrogance — that they could trap him anywhere and rob him together. So they waited.
But instead of Elric… a mob of angry girls found them first.
Screaming erupted the moment the girls realized men had entered their dorm.Chaos followed — until Paige and Jane arrived, their powers flaring like a storm.
Within seconds, all four intruders were captured and thrown to their knees.
"This one—" said a bruised girl standing behind Paige, pointing at Elsa."She's the one who brought her boyfriend and his roommates here! She betrayed all of us!"
The bruised girl was Nina, Elsa's old roommate — and one of Paige's loyal followers.Nina had been beaten badly yesterday during an argument with Elsa, and the humiliation still burned.
Now she had her chance to retaliate.
"Sister Paige, Sister Jane," she said sweetly. "We should throw these four down into the fog below. Let them see what that poisonous mist feels like."
Her tone was filled with hatred and anticipation.
But Paige and Jane didn't answer right away.Their eyes moved slowly across the four captives — then lingered on the three young men: Jacob, Ryan, and Matt.
Before the world fell apart, Paige and Jane had lived invisible lives. No one ever noticed them. No boy had ever confessed to them. They had never even been on a date.
But now?Now they were powerful — feared, admired, and obeyed. Here, they were the law.
The three men kneeling in front of them were strong, good-looking, and trembling.
Paige licked her lips."Well," she said, smiling faintly, "we don't have to waste all of them."
Jane tilted her head, understanding the implication immediately."Right. Throw the woman out. Keep the men. Find an empty dorm room, tie them up tight — and don't let them out."
"Yes, Sister Paige."Nina bowed her head respectfully.
Then she turned toward Elsa, her expression twisting into something cruel.
"You always thought you were so much better than the rest of us," Nina hissed."Pretty face, perfect hair, perfect grades. Guess what? None of that matters anymore."
She grabbed Elsa by the hair and yanked her toward the door.
"Ah—!" Elsa cried out in pain, her body helpless under Jane's glowing restraints. The ropes of light tightened with every movement, leaving her unable to fight back.
"Ryan! Help me!" she screamed desperately, tears streaming down her face.
But Ryan only stared at the floor, trembling. He wanted to help — but he couldn't. He'd seen what Paige and Jane could do. One wrong move, and they'd all be thrown into the fog below.
Nina struck Elsa across the face — once, twice — each slap echoing sharply across the room.
"That's what you get for acting high and mighty," she sneered.
Elsa's head hung low, tears falling silently onto the floor. All the elegance she once had — gone.In its place was nothing but fear and shame.
Paige leaned back on her bed, popping a chip into her mouth."Make sure she's gone," she said lazily, chewing. "We don't need extra mouths to feed."
The bed creaked beneath her heavy body; the floorboards groaned. The other girls around the room didn't dare look directly at her.
Nina smirked, dragging Elsa's limp body closer to the stairwell."Don't worry," she said mockingly. "I'll make it quick."
She opened the stairwell door — and the thick, gray fog outside billowed in like a living thing.
Elsa's heart pounded in terror. She knew what happened to people thrown down there. No one ever came back.
And just as Nina was about to push her—
A calm, deep voice echoed through the hallway.
"Stop."
Everyone froze.
The air shifted — heavy, electric.
Then, from the far end of the hall, a shadow stepped forward.A man with dark hair, sharp eyes, and a calm, unreadable expression.
Elric.
His voice was soft, but it carried through the entire floor.
"That's enough."
