The following day, Victoria returned home from the hospital looking tired and unwell. Without saying much, she placed an envelope on the table and walked straight to her room, leaving Grace alone in the living area.
Grace noticed the envelope immediately.
She stared at it for a moment, curiosity and caution battling inside her. After making sure Victoria was nowhere nearby, she quietly picked it up and opened it. Inside were several ultrasound photographs.
Grace's eyes widened.
She carefully pulled one of the photographs out and stared at it.
She's really pregnant…
Her heart began racing as the truth sank in. And they're planning everything while my daughter is here.
A mixture of anger and worry filled her chest. She looked toward Victoria's bedroom before quickly placing the photographs back inside the envelope.
I have to stay alert. I can't let anything happen to me and my daughter.
Grace carefully closed the envelope, but instead of leaving it where Victoria had placed it, she quietly carried it to her room.
Once inside, she hid the ultrasound photographs in a safe place where she was certain no one would find them.
Grace sat on the edge of her bed, her expression hardening.
"Both husband and wife are wicked. One day, I will expose everything they have done".
She took a deep breath. "This is just temporary, nothing will stay hidden forever."
A little while later, Victoria woke up and came out of her room. She immediately noticed that the envelope was missing.
"Grace!" She called in a loud voice.
Grace turned toward her. "Yes ma'am"
"Where is the envelope I left on the table? Did you see it?"
Grace remained calm, carefully hiding her thoughts. "I didn't see anything, ma'am."
Victoria narrowed her eyes. For a moment, she seemed unconvinced, but she said nothing more.
She walked back toward the living room and began searching the table and nearby shelves.
"My envelope…" she muttered. "Where is it? I left it right here."
Grace watched silently from a distance, keeping her expression neutral. "She has no idea that I have it."
"She doesn't have idea of what I'm planning next".
She whispered almost to herself.
Grace's eyes briefly moved toward the hallway leading to her room.
"I will make sure Felicity stays safe. And one day, their dirty secrets will be exposed."
Victoria continued searching, becoming increasingly frustrated. "It has to be here. Who could have taken it?"
Just then, her phone rang. She looked at the screen.
David.
Victoria immediately answered the video call.
"David?"
Her husband's face appeared on the screen, and his expression was serious.
"Victoria, I just received a call at the office. I have to return home tomorrow. There's something urgent I need to handle."
Victoria froze. For a moment, she couldn't speak.
"Tomorrow?"
"Yes. I should be home by tomorrow."
Victoria forced herself to smile. "Alright. I understand welcome back darling."
The call ended. The moment the screen went dark, Victoria's expression changed.
Panic flashed across her face. Her missing envelope. Her pregnancy. Chriss.
And now, David was returning home.
Everything she had been trying to control suddenly felt as though it was slipping out of her hands.
He's coming back. I can't let him find out.
Victoria quickly returned to her bedroom confused and closed the door behind her. She immediately picked up her phone and dialed Chriss.
He answered after a few rings.
"Victoria?"
"Chriss, listen carefully," she said, her voice tense. "I need to go to the hospital again. My husband is returning, tomorrow and we cannot have any problems. I have to get rid of this pregnancy before he reaches home."
There was a brief silence on the other end.
Chriss sounded uneasy.
"Tomorrow, Victoria? You know it could be risky."
"I know," she snapped. "But we don't have time. If my husband finds out, we will be in danger."
She lowered her voice. "I need you to help me."
Chriss hesitated before finally answering.
"Alright. I understand."
Victoria ended the call. She stood silently for a moment, trying to control her breathing.
Unbeknownst to her, Grace was nearby.
She had heard enough.
Grace's eyes narrowed. So they really are planning to get rid of the pregnancy.
She quietly stepped away before Victoria could discover her.
Poor child…
Grace shook her head.
Soon, Victoria. Soon your little dark secret will come to light.
But Grace knew she couldn't act recklessly. She had to wait for the right moment.
The following morning, Victoria woke up early and prepared herself to leave.
She called Grace into the living room.
"Grace," she said firmly, "I'm going to the hospital today. Make sure everything is taken care of while I'm gone."
Grace nodded. "Of course, ma'am."
Victoria then called Isabelle over. "Come here, darling."
Isabelle ran toward her. Victoria hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead.
"I'm going out for a while. Be a good girl while I'm gone, alright?"
Isabelle smiled. "Okay, Mommy."
Felicity was nearby, quietly playing with her toys. She looked up for a moment but paid little attention to the conversation.
Grace watched everything carefully. Her heart tightened.I cannot let anything happen to her.
She looked at her daughter and silently made a promise.
"I will be ready for whatever comes next."
Victoria picked up her bag and walked toward the door. A few moments later, she left the house.
Grace watched her disappear down the road, her expression serious.
She knew what would happen at the hospital.
And the biggest thing she also knew that Victoria's secret was getting closer to being exposed.
And this time, Grace was ready.
