Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Meteor

Two warriors with swords in hand, ran towards me. "Hiyahh!"

I raised my hands and snapped my fingers to spark a blinding light which blinded everyone. I slowly released a cloud of dust using earth element.

"Ugh!" The warriors still swung their swords at me, but they could not follow up.

Myleane aggressively rubbed her eyes and screamed. "Where is he? Did anyone get him?"

"He got my leg!" One of the warriors yelled.

As soon as her vision returned, she noticed one of her warrior's down and my absence. "Stay on guard! He is hiding."

The dust cloud now covered all the area, reducing visibility. The unharmed warrior predicted an attack stood by his injured companion.

CLANG!

"He is here! I got him!" The warrior kicked his target and stabbed his sword at point blank.

Myleane flashed a savage grin. "What did you expect? These are highly trained private soldiers, they have years of experience. Your puny tricks won't work on them." But the sudden scream of her own warrior, spooked the crimson.

"AAHHH! IT'S A MONSTER! DON'T COME CL-!" She saw her underling's silhouette getting cleaved in half.

"Mistress! Please save me!" The last warrior pleaded with his hands reaching out. But before Myleane could even react, something pulled him deep in the cloud. "No! No! Ple- Araghh!"

The warrior's desperate screams sting in Myleane's ear. She smashed her spear into the ground as if to tempt her opponent to attack. But it did not work. She glanced left to right, for any movement, her body as tensed as it could get.

Suddenly, she jabbed her spear in her blind spot, expecting someone. Sadly, she only scratched dust particles.

The entire area was quiet, too quiet. Her ears were getting irritated from hearing her own heartbeat. "Damn you!" Myleane raised her spear and began spinning it with all of her strength.

In the next few seconds, the dust cloud was blown away and she saw a person 'eating' the corpse of her warrior. "Is he sucking blood?"

Seeing the maneater ignoring her, Myleane pointed her spear at head level and swung it in a circular motion. At the last second, her body heat up which was absorbed by her custom war spear and arc of steam air was shot.

The steaming hot hit the target's shoulder, normally it would give 2nd degree burns, it was mostly used as warning shot at beasts.

Even after getting hit by Myleane's attack, maneater was unfazed. "Is that even human?"Myleane questioned after witnessing cannibalism and borderline human endurance.

"Maybe I should back off and find that brat-" As soon as she took a step back, the bloodkin stood up.

Myleane immediately became alarmed and pointed her spear at it. She took another step and at that exact moment bloodkin fired his bloody fist at her face. She quickly ducked to dodge, just above her head was a hollow tube of solid crystalized blood.

Without any warning, the bloodkin fired his second hand.

"In the emperor's name what is that?" The mage felt every strand of his body screaming at him to stay away from the bloodkin. But he could not abandon the task, not after that person from guild paid him so handsomely. "I-I should call for backup."

He pulled out an antique pocket watch, his fingers carefully slid on the glass until both hands met at the very top. The watch released a faint glow. "I should assist the mistress-"

Suddenly a blade slit his throat. "Surrounding the area in traps while you are just supporting from the sidelines? Just how fucking paranoid are you?"

I giggled at the mage who held his bleeding neck while crawling on the floor. "Hehe. Don't fret, all wizards are like that. But really disarming those traps took a while."

A tall pillar of fire grabbed my attention, the pillar lasted a dozen seconds as Myleane tried very hard to turn my bloodkin into ashes, it lit up the environment just right. "Pretty durable, right?"

I commented as the bloodkin walked out of fire, hardly damaged. "It's mine… Don't worry, I can make you like that too."

The mage tried to run away, painting a blood trail. I inserted Melsier's sword into his stomach to keep him at one place. "Don't worry, it won't hurt… much."

I placed my hand on his head and summoned my magic circle. The mage screamed and struggled very hard but couldn't do much.

As I was devouring his soul, a knife came flying at me. I quickly stepped aside and clicked my tongue. "It's rude to disturb anyone during appetite."

Four assassin's in red armour had already surrounded me with one standing right in front of me. I glanced around but I could not see them but I could sense them in my mana field.

"Hand over the sword." The assassin demanded calmly.

With a smile, I crouched down to pick up Melsier's sword only to throw it off the building. "Fetch it."

The assassin's looked at each other before jumping off the building. During the freefall, they all reached out for the blade. One of them got close enough to touch the pointy tip but as soon as he touched it, the blade twisted unnaturally and pierced the assassin's head.

In instinct, the assassin rolled away from the blade which started swinging around wildly and eventually flied back up, straight in my sparky hands.

"Ever heard of electromagnetism?" I yelled at the assassin's who just landed.

I wanted to play more but it wasn't the correct time and I noticed bunch of problematic people in my mana field. 'They are finally here, the knights.'

Multiple men on horsebacks galloped towards my direction, they were armed with enchanted weapons, but it wasn't that what bothered me. 'If anyone of them, saw my face and reported me to the guild. I could lose my exploration guild. I need to find Alexia quickly.'

I jumped off from the other side and began running in crowded alleyways. 'I have to get to the other side of the pit.' I hid Melsier's bloody sword in my coat and walked nonchalantly, thinking that the assassin wouldn't dare to attack large crowds.

A pipe bomb fell out of the sky, right in front of me.

In panic, I created a wall of stone to hide behind. The passerby people finally screamed but it was too late.

BOOM!

The street shook by the blast, by the time I lowered the wall, human remains were scattered everywhere.

"Die!" An assassin appeared behind to backstab me, he was too fast, I couldn't do anything. Even if my sense could see him, my body was simply not developed enough to react quickly.

'I have to tank this!' I braced myself for pain which never came. The assassin's dagger pierced the exact place where Melsier's blade was hidden, the strong impact left a bruise but it was much better than bleeding.

I quickly summoned my magic circle to set the assassin on fire but the orange magic circle broke the moment it formed. 'Unique armour?'

With no options left, I pumped mana into my legs and dashed away. 'That was close, way too close.'

The other two assassin where ready to ambush me but I already knew their location via mana field so escaping them was not difficult. The chase continued for a sometime, until I reached the edge of the pit.

Behind me stood the three assassins, all ready to attack. Honestly, my mana capacity was nowhere near empty but my body was showing signs off fatigue. Constant casting put strain on my already damaged veins a heart.

Swinging around sword was already a bad choice as each one of them outclassed me in swordman ship, not to mention I was at disadvantage in three on one.

Seeing me sweat, the assassins were bit optimistic.

"You see, I am just trying to save someone right now. Can't we do this sometime later?" I asked with a smile but the assassins were not intimidated at all. I revealed Melsier sword as I was ready to fight.

As they approached, I sense an object closing distance fast. I looked up to see an actual meteor heading straight at me. "Fuck."

The assassins began to panic, but I couldn't help but smile after I realized who it actually was. I spread my hands for the grand welcome, the assassins backed away but I decided to stand still.

People from all around the pit, saw this meteor falling, some grew scared while some actually laughed. Then it hit me.

BOOM!
