"What the hell was I thinking? I must have been out of my mind."
He gave a small, helpless sigh.
"But I had already said it before calling you over. I couldn't take it back."
Olaedo said nothing.
She simply waited for him to continue as if she was not buying any of this rubbish.
Chibuzor stared at her picking up on this.
She didn't believe me.
Should I just tell her the truth?
For the first time, Chibuzor realized that whatever he said next could change everything between them.
For a moment, there was silence.
It was as if the two of them were standing at a crossroads, each silently weighing what to say next.
Then Chibuzor looked at her.
His expression suddenly became serious.
"What if it is true?"
Olaedo froze.
She hadn't expected that answer.
He sounded serious.
Her heart skipped.
It wasn't exactly a bad answer either.
In fact, for one brief second, she almost allowed herself to hope.
She was about to respond when Chibuzor suddenly burst out laughing.
