Most of the younger generation looked on, impressed, a mixture of admiration and awe in their eyes.
Ifeoma's face, however, burned red with fury. "Who do you think you are? Just because you married my brother, you think you can act all high and mighty? Chibuzor, are you going to let her talk to me like this?"
Chibuzor's cold, detached eyes flicked toward her, unreadable. A pause hung in the air, thick enough to choke on.
But Chibuzor's icy glare silenced her before she could say another word. "Ifeoma, stop it. Olaedo is my wife. If you hadn't disrespected her, she wouldn't have spoken to you that way. Your allowance for this month is canceled. Reflect on your behavior."
Ifeoma's jaw dropped. "What? No! The family ball is next week. I need that money to prepare!"
