Celina's POV
Carly's eyes burned into me with pure hatred.
A low laugh drifted from somewhere ahead, and I recognized Jared's unmistakable chuckle.
I kept my voice steady. "Look, I'm not sure where you're getting your information, but I didn't come here to be your personal source of amusement. I'm here to do what's required of me. So if you're finished making wild guesses about my life, maybe we could actually focus on why we're here."
Fury rolled off Carly in visible waves. "Don't get too comfortable thinking you're special, servant girl. You'll be hearing from me again."
I lifted one shoulder in a careless shrug and turned toward the window. She wasn't my boss, so her threats meant nothing to me.
The medical center thrummed with constant motion around us. Staff members distributed protective gloves and surgical caps to our group before Dr. Waylon and his team of nurses escorted us through the main entrance. Our destination was the pediatric wing.
