Celina's POV
The aroma of fresh basil, bubbling marinara, and grilled meat filled the air around me. Tomorrow's Luna trial would be decided in this very space - a cooking competition that could determine my future.
Dary had departed the previous evening. He wanted nothing more than to stay by my side, but urgent matters demanded his attention elsewhere. Though he never explained the details, I could feel the weight of whatever burden he carried.
Before leaving, he pulled me close, his lips brushing against my temple. "Do you trust me?" His arms wrapped around me so tightly it felt like he was memorizing the feel of me against him. When I gave him a small nod, he continued, "Then please stay put. I'll return as quickly as I can. I'm going to fix everything."
I buried my face against his chest, dreading another wave of loneliness. "When will I see you again?"
