Chapter 143: The Shape of a Fall
Unfortunately, that night Theo did not sleep.
He sat at the table long after the city went quiet, his sleeves rolled up, his hands flat against the wood. Papers were spread in front of him and screens glowed softly.
Danielle watched him from the doorway.
She had changed into something comfortable, but she was still thinking about her father.
And damn well, his bunny knew that look on his face as well. It meant he was not angry anymore.
He was precise.
"You are thinking too hard," a short and gentle whisper reached Theo's ears.
Theo did not look up. "I am thinking clearly."
She walked in and leaned against the table across from him. "Those two things rarely come together with you."
He smiled weakly. "That is why I waited."
Carefully, crossing her arms, his wife looked at him. "So. What is the plan?"
Theo finally glanced at her back.
"We do not fight him like a man," he said. "We fight him like a system."
