Chapter 141: Open Wounds
When the next day came, Danielle was standing behind the curtain, listening to the noise outside.
Voices overlapped and cameras clicked and people waited.
Theo was beside her, silently humming behind her ears. He did not tell her to calm down or ordered her to stop.
Her husband already knew she would walk out there no matter what anyone said.
"They are ready," a staff member said.
Danielle nodded once. "Open it."
The curtain pulled back.
The noise hit her all at once.
She walked forward and sat down. The microphones were adjusted. The lights burned bright.
She looked straight ahead.
"My name is Danielle Hale," she began. "And I am here to speak about the president of this country."
The room fell quiet…
However, Danielle didn't pause or wait for permission.
"Elias Geiger is my father," she continued. "But he is not a leader. He is not a protector. He is not a man who serves the people."
Murmurs spread immediately.
