The next day arrived swiftly, the sun casting long golden rays across Gabe and Fred's faces as they slept side by side on the same bed.
Gabe was the first to move.
He stirred because of the sunlight, his brows knitting together as brightness pressed insistently against his closed eyelids. With a low groan, he shifted and forced his eyes open, blinking slowly as he tried to take in his surroundings.
He was in his house, not the hospital.
His house.... the very one he had once shared with Sabe. More specifically, he was in his bedroom.
Gabe sat up abruptly, his heartbeat quickening. "What the hell…" he muttered under his breath.
He quickly stood up and pulled the curtains shut, blocking out the invasive sunlight. The room dimmed immediately. As silence settled, he slowly turned his head to the right.
Fred was still there.
Sleeping peacefully beside him.
Gabe stared at him for a few seconds, confusion tightening in his chest.
