Chapter 23 - 23. Thank you, Mr...

In Company A

"Good morning, everyone. This is our product…" Lara began, her voice steady as she walked them through the presentation. Daisy stood beside her, smoothly changing slides as needed.

After several rounds of discussion with Company A's CEO, the atmosphere in the room shifted—interested, engaged, promising. The board excused themselves for deliberation, and shortly after, Lara was asked to step into the CEO's office.

"We intend to move forward with you on this project," he said, a faint smile forming. "I'm looking forward to seeing these products enter the market."

Lara let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. "Thank you, Mr. Rain," she said, returning the smile.

Rain signed the agreement and handed it to his secretary. As she stepped out to process the paperwork, he leaned back in his chair, studying Lara.

"You're Ben's daughter, aren't you?" he asked. "Why start your own company? You could've easily taken over your father's business."

Lara's expression stayed composed. "We think differently when it comes to business—our vision, our scale, our approach. Our fields don't really align, but we respect each other's space."

"Interesting," Rain murmured, his tone giving nothing away.

"For monitoring the project's progress," he added, "I—or someone on my behalf—will visit your facility from time to time. Just to keep things transparent."

"That works for us," Lara replied.

They stepped out of the office together. Daisy was waiting outside, barely containing her excitement. Rain acknowledged her enthusiasm with a polite nod, offered both women a courteous smile, and walked away.

The moment he was gone, Lara turned to Daisy, her grin finally breaking free. "We did it," she said, pulling her into a quick hug.

"Yes!" Daisy laughed. "We're partying tonight." Then, lowering her voice with a mischievous smirk, she added, "Also… tell me I'm not the only one who noticed he's hot."

Lara raised a brow. "Here we go."

"Big. Muscular. That calm, dangerous aura," Daisy continued, gesturing toward where Rain had disappeared. "And that perfume? Don't even get me started."

Lara laughed, shaking her head. "Yeah, yeah—definitely your type. But I'll admit, that perfume really stands out."

They walked off together, their laughter echoing down the hallway as the weight of the signed deal finally settled in.
