Xiao Wu, a hundred-thousand-year-old Soul Beast—Soft-Boned Rabbit—the white moonlight in the hearts of Sky-Blue Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape. Both secretly held feelings for her, but since they were brothers, neither dared speak, afraid of hurting their bond. So the love remained buried deep inside.
"Damn tiger! Today I will kill you no matter what!" Titan Giant Ape roared furiously, gripping the iron chains so tightly that his hands bled, yet the chains didn't budge an inch.
"Dark Demon Evil Tiger… what do you mean by that? Could it be… you've already…" Sky-Blue Bull Python's eyelids trembled.
"The taste of rabbit meat isn't bad! Me, big brother, and second brother all got a share!" the third ant laughed heartily.
Seeing Sky-Blue Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape's furious, almost frenzied gazes, the five beasts on the scene exchanged knowing smiles.
Nothing torments a Soul Beast more than physical suffering. Learning of Xiao Wu's "death" pushed the two beasts over the edge! They roared to the sky, rampaging across the hundred-meter radius.
Inside a secret chamber.
A cocoon radiating golden light mysteriously appeared. Zhou Sidong's figure had long since vanished.
The cocoon's glow illuminated the dark chamber as if it were daylight.
Outside, three Title Douluos stood guard. Until Zhou Sidong emerged, their mission was to watch over this chamber.
From time to time, Bibi Dong would come to check, but seeing the chamber doors still tightly closed made her increasingly uneasy.
"It's been a whole month… and nothing?"
Since Zhou Sidong entered, a full month had passed.
Inside, the cocoon continued to shimmer with radiant light.
Within it, Zhou Sidong's eyes were tightly shut, his body glowing and radiating heat. Yet his consciousness had entered a special space.
A grand hall.
"Welcome to the Nine Trials of Fate. Push open the door and enter."
Xiao Xue's voice echoed from within.
"Creak—"
Zhou Sidong pushed open the heavy door and stepped inside.
Before him stood a sword embedded in a throne, its blade piercing the seat, only the hilt exposed.
Around the hall, eighteen columns of light illuminated. As Zhou Sidong arrived, four of them suddenly went out, leaving fourteen.
"Welcome. You have unlocked the Nine Trials of Fate."
Xiao Xue appeared atop the throne, then floated in front of Zhou Sidong with a smile.
"That sword?"
Zhou Sidong's gaze was drawn immediately to the blade.
"That is the Sword of Fate. Whoever wields it can sever all obstacles, rewrite destiny. Only when you become the God of Fate can this sword be drawn."
Xiao Xue pointed to the four extinguished light columns.
"These four represent the four times you have traversed parallel timelines since you were six. It proves you've completed the Second Trial and arrived at the Third."
"Second trial? Third trial?" Zhou Sidong scratched his head, puzzled. "I thought the trials just started. Did you go easy on me?"
In Zhou Sidong's understanding, divine trials required clearing stages and defeating challenges in sequence.
"I didn't go easy."
Xiao Xue placed her hands on her hips."You are a Twin Martial Soul. You can absorb eighteen soul rings, and each represents one chance to traverse a parallel timeline. I'm not from this world, so every time you traverse, I restore some of your former abilities. When you traverse for the eighteenth time, that will be the day you become the God of Fate… and I will vanish."
"Vanish? Where to?" Zhou Sidong asked.
"Become the laws of the universe once more. If any world's balance is broken, you can reverse everything. Balance is the foundation of a world. Because Tang San interfered with the Douluo Continent, disrupting the original balance, divine law forbade gods from intervening, but he broke that law. His reach was simply too long."
Zhou Sidong thought for a moment: "So becoming a god means focusing on yourself, not meddling in the affairs below?"
"Exactly."
Xiao Xue nodded."Civilization begins with unity: culture, thought, and people. Only with these can humanity progress. The Douluo Continent is in a cold-weapons era. Tang San's hidden weapons and the Tang Sect would eventually be replaced by soul-guided weapons in ten thousand years. Progress or be crushed. That's why, millennia later, the Three Kingdom Coalition couldn't defeat the Sun-Moon Continent."
"All things pass; only people endure. Over time, families and sects fade, leaving only what's worth developing. Do you understand?"
Xiao Xue's golden eyes stared unblinkingly at him.
"I get it. As the God of Fate, I just live my life with my family, mind my own affairs. Tang San's meddling is why you came."
"You are clever. Well said." Xiao Xue finally smiled."Congratulations! You've gained another chance to traverse parallel timelines—two times now. Tell me whenever you wish to use it."
"Mm." Zhou Sidong nodded. "Xiao Xue, how is Tang San in the parallel timeline?"
"Due to your departure and restoring your sister's sealed memories early, Tang San's world has suffered greatly. Your sister has sent powerful people to disrupt Shrek Academy, and even the long-sealed Haotian Sect recently lost its second elder, killed by your grandfather's orders."
"Harsh!" Zhou Sidong was shocked.
He remembered his grandfather once clashed with Tang Chen of the Haotian Sect, and Tang Chen had won. Afterward, Tang Chen forbade Qiandao Liu from approaching the Haotian Sect.
"Yes! That world's history is already set. Your existence has severed Tang San's luck there. But in the other world, if the Soul Hall does nothing, Tang San may rise and repeat history." Xiao Xue's tone was troubled.
"You can return. Half a month later, the god-given soul rings will be absorbed." Xiao Xue's figure faded, and Zhou Sidong's consciousness returned to his body.
Half a month later.
The chamber suddenly radiated golden light!
The Soul Hall trembled.
Bibi Dong, sitting on the Pope's throne, blinked in surprise, then smiled brightly, leaving the ongoing reports to rush toward the chamber.
Inside.
The cocoon exploded!
Zhou Sidong emerged completely naked.
"Success."
He looked at the sixth soul ring at his feet, a wide grin spreading across his face.
A vivid, blood-red soul ring!
A month and a half of effort had paid off.
"Soul power, level 65. Beautiful!"
"Unconsciously… forty-five days have passed… unlucky…"
Zhou Sidong shook his head. Half the holiday was gone.
At the Royal Douluo Academy, holidays were rare. Returning to school made Zhou Sidong groan. In his past life, nine years of compulsory education, three miserable years of high school, four years drifting through college, then struggling in society—he had gained nothing.
But thanks to the past incident and Xiao Xue, his tragic fate had been indirectly changed.
Suddenly, the long-sealed chamber door moved.
Zhou Sidong quickly donned fresh clothes and stepped toward the door.
The heavy stone door creaked open.
It was the first meeting with Bibi Dong in forty-five days.
"Mom, sorry to worry you." Zhou Sidong smiled.
"You silly boy." Bibi Dong laughed and embraced him.
She had absorbed god-given soul rings herself, enduring a similar lengthy process.
"How did it go?" she asked eagerly.
"I peeked… red." Zhou Sidong grinned proudly.
"Well done!" Bibi Dong beamed.
"Mom, just you here? Where's Zhu Zhuqing?" Zhou Sidong asked.
"Got a husband, forgot your mother. I wondered about that before… now it's true." Bibi Dong feigned sadness.
"Mom, I was born after ten months in your womb. Did my foster parents come to the Soul Hall before I arrived?" Zhou Sidong asked.
"Zhou Shijie and his wife arrived half a month ago. Staying in Douluo City is unsafe—they may be targeted by Tang Hao for seeking you. You and Tang San already have enmity, and Tang Hao is protective. Tang San's injured badly, currently resting at Yuexuan, unable to walk yet." Bibi Dong explained.
"Yuexuan? That's Tang Yuehua of the Haotian Sect, right?" Zhou Sidong thought for a moment.
"You know Tang Yuehua?" Bibi Dong was surprised.
"Haotian Sect's eldest daughter, Tang Hao's sister. Of course I know." Zhou Sidong continued: "How is Shrek Academy?"
"Yu Xiaogang is permanently disabled, now wheelchair-bound. The three harmed by Xiao An are mostly fine." Bibi Dong said.
"Xiao An wasn't ruthless enough. Should have sent the Ant Trio in." Zhou Sidong lamented.
One extra hand means one more force.
"Anyway, about Zhuqing… he's in a room I arranged. He apprenticed under Yueguan and Guimei, now receiving guidance. His strength has skyrocketed."
Zhou Sidong's son's growth was essential; Zhu Zhuqing must be strong enough to match.
"Apprenticed under two?"
Zhou Sidong was surprised—he thought a Soul Master could only have one teacher.
"Couldn't help it," Bibi Dong shrugged."Yueguan and Guimei argued, each claiming they were enough to be Zhuqing's teacher. They even fought recently, dragging down Sky-Blue Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape."
The two beasts were innocent victims, trapped and then beaten by surprise.
"So unlucky…" Zhou Sidong sighed.
The Soul Hall forbids Title Douluos from dueling privately, so the two agreed to teach the beasts a lesson. Later, they were grounded for half a month—barely a punishment.
"Thus, Zhuqing had to learn from both—making Soul Continent history," Bibi Dong chuckled.
Next, Zhou Sidong followed Bibi Dong to the Pope Hall, where the Soul Hall's high council was gathered.
"Greetings, Young Master," everyone shouted in unison.
"Mom… this…" Zhou Sidong felt awkward being worshiped.
"Don't worry, you'll get used to it," Bibi Dong said.
After a court-like session, mother and son walked through the hall. Disciples stopped, bowing in respect.
"The grenade you gave us has been studied. Multiple versions developed, including a wooden-handle grenade—longer throw, higher explosive power. Even a Soul Emperor could be injured!"
Zhou Sidong was thrilled—wooden-handle grenades were a success.
Human ingenuity drives progress.
Even after ten thousand years, sects stagnate, the Tang Sect fell because they resisted progress.
"Only a unified continent ensures progress," Zhou Sidong murmured.
"What are you muttering?" Bibi Dong asked.
"Nothing… Mom, where's your Raksasha Divine Trial?"
"Eighth trial. Need all soul rings and bones. I have the bones, but…" Bibi Dong sighed.
"I have them!" Zhou Sidong said.
"Your responsibility surpasses mine. The three Ants became hundred-thousand-year beasts, plus Sky-Blue Bull Python, Titan Giant Ape, Evil Tiger, Xiao Bai. You now have seven hundred-thousand-year soul rings and bones. Envy me!" Bibi Dong teased.
"By the way, what's the Nine Trials of Fate?" she asked curiously.
"Easier than Mom's. Just traverse parallel timelines eighteen times. Then I become God of Fate."
Compared to Bibi Dong, Zhou Sidong's trials were simpler—earning soul rings as a Title Douluo.
"Too simple…" Bibi Dong envied him.
"Not simple," Zhou Sidong shook his head."Each traversal brings new enemies. The remaining fourteen opportunities must be cherished."
At night, Zhou Sidong ate heavily—forty-five days without food. He ate more than Bibi Dong and Zhu Zhuqing combined.
"Slow down. Nobody's competing with you." Bibi Dong smiled.
Life had never been better.
He occasionally visited his father and mother, strolled with Zhu Zhuqing, or chatted with his grandfather. The world seemed wonderful without Tang San and others.
Training Ground.
A massive arena.
Zhou Sidong stood, hands behind his back, five soul rings glowing beneath him.
Opposite him appeared a figure in crimson armor, enveloped in red mist—the fusion Martial Soul of Huliena and her brother Xie Yue: Demon Enchantress.
Demon Enchantress wielded two blood-red moon blades, pointing directly at Zhou Sidong.
Red mist engulfed the arena; the figure vanished into it. Zhou Sidong followed suit.
Two green lights flickered in his eyes as he tracked Demon Enchantress.
She stepped behind him, swinging a moon blade toward his back.
Zhou Sidong raised his right hand, catching her wrist just in time.
"How… possible?" a mix of male and female voices—Huliena and Xie Yue—shouted.
"Go."
Zhou Sidong flung Demon Enchantress away.
Yet she attacked again.
The red mist was his domain. Only he could see enemies; they couldn't see him.
Demon Enchantress assumed Zhou Sidong's defense was mere luck.
Then, he raised his right hand, and a faint green shield appeared.
"Soul-Devouring Domain."
Huliena and Xie Yue's fusion was powerful. A direct fight might be possible, but Zhou Sidong's domain was different. Enemies trapped inside trembled, their soul power evaporating like boiling water, unable to escape.
