Wukong spread out his qi to sense the area, quickly picking up several moving soul fluctuations on the Shrek Academy training grounds.
No need to guess — the ones who stayed behind at the academy were all there.
After saying a few brief words to the two girls, the three sped up and rushed straight toward the academy.
"Is everyone here?" Flender pushed up his glasses, scanning the students standing on the field. Not seeing Wukong or the two girls, Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong, he frowned. "Where are Sun Wukong and those two? They still aren't back? Didn't they say they went out to cultivate? They left without saying a word — and now they don't return?"
The more he thought about it, the more Flender felt like he'd suffered a massive loss. Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong leaving would make him feel bad for a moment… but if Wukong didn't return?
That would shatter his soul.
That kid was a walking treasury and their strongest combat power! If he left for real… then Shrek's future—
"Dean… they still haven't returned yet…" Oscar stepped forward, voice weak.
When Ning Rongrong left with Wukong, Oscar's heart already cracked a little. Now, after so many days with no sign of her, how was he supposed to sleep at night?
Three people together…?
No, no, no!
Oscar was desperately clearing away the crazy thoughts in his head. Ever since Ning Rongrong's shocking improvement and change in attitude, he'd gained confidence. But the longer she stayed out with Wukong, the harder it was not to imagine things.
"That little brat Sun, where did he go? Not even a word before leaving! If it was cultivation, I could at least go find him myself!" Zhao Wuji clenched a fist, brows tightly furrowed.
"Teacher Zhao, no need to think so hard. That brat Wukong probably already took those two girls up into the clouds~" Ma Hongjun grinned lecherously and gestured with his eyebrows. Everyone present knew exactly what "into the clouds" meant.
Zhao Wuji didn't get it at first, but seeing Ma Hongjun's filthy expression, he immediately understood.
"Roll! You think everyone's as rotten as you? Little Sun's not that kind of kid!" Zhao Wuji barked. He had a lot of respect for Wukong — the kid defeated him fair and square, respected strong opponents, and even brought a mountain of money to Shrek. Of course Zhao Wuji would defend him.
"Teacher Zhao… that may not be so certain…" a very unwelcome voice chimed in — Dai Mubai.
Dai Mubai understood this kind of situation far too well. He'd played this game before — who would know better than him?
"With two beauties like flowers sticking by his side… what man could hold back?" Dai Mubai spoke through gritted teeth. Zhu Zhuqing was still with Wukong. And with her talent, figure, and looks now? Dai Mubai was practically jealous to the point of insanity.
Some things are only appreciated once they're gone. And Zhu Zhuqing… was gone forever.
Oscar's expression hardened a bit. He really liked Ning Rongrong now, and hearing Dai Mubai talk this way made him uncomfortable.
"Maybe Ning Rongrong is perfectly happy with it. Didn't you see the way she looks at Wukong?" Dai Mubai sneered. "Why else would he take her with him to cultivate? They probably already have something going on."
"Sun Wukong isn't a good person either. Probably just drooling over Zhu Zhuqing's figure. I've met plenty like him."
The grudge between Dai Mubai and Wukong was now a canyon — his fiancée stolen, his face stomped into the dirt in front of his own little brother. His pride could not take it.
"Mubai, enough!" Flender shouted sharply.
The last thing he wanted was internal division within the academy.
"Boss Dai, don't say it like that…" Oscar finally spoke up, clearly unwilling to let him insult the two girls. "Rongrong is still a girl… and besides, I trust Wukong isn't like that."
"Wukong might be ruthless sometimes, but he's a pretty decent person…" Oscar added.
"If he didn't care about Zhu Zhuqing, he could've left her here long ago and gone out to find a few more girls for himself, right?" Oscar tried a weak smile, soul power rising around his hand — dangerously close to summoning the Sausage of Doom.
If he summoned that thing now, he'd definitely get punched… but as a loyal simp, Oscar was willing to take the hit if it meant shielding Ning Rongrong from rumors.
Hearing Oscar defend Wukong, Dai Mubai's temper flared instantly. "Oscar… are you defending him?"
If he didn't establish authority now, Oscar would run straight to Wukong's side someday.
Oscar shrank instantly. "No…"
"Mubai, stop!" Flender felt his patience fraying. With this kind of infighting, how were they supposed to compete in future tournaments?
"Dean, everything I said is true. Can't even speak the truth now?" Dai Mubai continued provoking, practically begging the heavens to smite him.
He was about to spew more nonsense—
—but a sharp sound cut through the air.
A qi blast streaked past Dai Mubai's forehead, shearing off two tufts of hair and shooting straight toward the distant mountain.
BOOM!
Half a forest exploded into splinters.
Everyone froze.
Dai Mubai's mouth snapped shut instantly, his face turning ghastly pale. Slowly, he looked up.
Wukong floated in the sky above — expression calm, posture regal, his presence overwhelming like an emperor looking down upon an insignificant creature he could erase at will.
"What was that you said just now?" Wukong's voice was light, almost playful. "I didn't quite hear it. Why don't you repeat yourself?"
Wukong had heard every single word Dai Mubai said earlier.
Flender panicked instantly. He knew Wukong well enough — he didn't provoke others unless they provoked him first.
And Dai Mubai had been practically begging for death.
"Little Sun, Mubai didn't mean any of that! Don't take it to heart!" Flender rushed to mediate, inwardly cursing Dai Mubai for forgetting pain the moment the bruises faded.
Weren't you terrified last time you fought Wukong? How did you suddenly grow guts these past two days!?
"Relax. I won't bother with him." Wukong dusted off his fingertips casually. "When a dog bites you, do you bite the dog back?"
"If I respond, won't he think he's my equal?"
He didn't even spare Dai Mubai a glance.
When someone grows strong enough, the people below them eventually feel… boring.
