The Preston Family, Ian Preston sat on the sofa with a stack of thick red envelopes beside him, waiting early for the kids to come.
Once inside, everyone took turns saying auspicious words in order.
Different from the usual seriousness, Ian smiled throughout, handing out red envelopes and giving Thea Lynch an extra one in the end.
The old man didn't explain, he just patted Thea's hand, which she understood by herself.
Silas Cheney mistakenly thought this was Ian grandpa's gift to his granddaughter-in-law, just like what Ian did yesterday.
Soon after, he realized the meaning behind it.
The last one handed to Thea wasn't for her.
It was Aaron Lynch's New Year's money.
Thinking about it, Silas sighed softly, his smile fading slightly. No wonder Ian didn't speak.
Probably sensing the change in atmosphere, Ian quickly found a topic, asking about tonight's arrangements.
