Natalie Vaughn was impatient, but if she didn't wear the proper protective gear, the firefighters wouldn't let her in.
During the time she was putting it on, Natalie was incredibly scared, continuously calling Zane Thorne's name, her body starting to shake uncontrollably.
"Are you really okay?"
The firefighter was still worried.
Natalie forcefully pinched the webbing between her thumb and index finger, trying to calm herself quickly. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and then opened them again.
Her eyes showed determination.
The firefighter said nothing further, only quickened the movements of his hands.
Natalie crouched down, following the firefighter's guidance, carefully probing inside.
The view was dim, so she couldn't adjust immediately and see anything; all she could smell was the scent of blood.
Natalie's heart trembled.
"Zane? Can you hear me?"
There was no response.
