Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Only Time She Didn't Lie to Him

"What's wrong, did something happen?" Sean Shawcross showed a worried expression, looking at Summer Shawcross.

"I..." Summer Shawcross was at a loss for words for a moment, looking at Sean Shawcross with reluctance. "I just haven't seen you for a long time and wanted to see you more..." She pulled out a smile, reaching up to wipe the moisture from the corner of her eyes to clear her vision.

She was very afraid that as soon as she let go, he would disappear, and she would never see him again.

Hearing her say this, Sean Shawcross also smiled, jokingly saying, "I'm just going on a business trip, I'll be back once the work is done, not like I'll never be seen again."

Hearing him say this, although Summer Shawcross felt some unease in her heart, she ultimately nodded and let go of her grip.

Sean Shawcross turned and got into the taxi, and she stood there until she saw the taxi completely disappear before reaching up to wipe the moisture off her face.

Turning around, she was faced with the man's cold face.

Noah Drexler stood there, staring at her, lost in thought.

In those dark eyes, there was a complex expression.

Summer Shawcross could not be bothered to guess his thoughts and instead, with a slight pout, whispered a sentence before turning to get into the car behind her.

"I didn't lie to you, I really had an urgent matter to attend to."

She had just settled in the car when Noah Drexler followed her in, sitting beside her, and the driver turned the car around, heading back to Noah Drexler's Hillside Villa.

The car was very quiet, with only Summer Shawcross and Noah Drexler in the backseat.

She leaned against the seat, staring at the man's handsome profile.

Suddenly, in her mind, the scene just before she died came to her...

He fell heavily before her, madly ordering her not to die in front of her disfigured face.

Before her encounter with him, she never imagined that this proud and domineering man could have such a frantic and broken moment.

She always thought she was strong, strong enough to be unstoppable.

Yet it was her, step by step, who destroyed him, and also herself.

"Still thinking of escape?"

Just as she was lost in thought, the man's voice, with a hint of vigilance, suddenly rang in the car.

She was taken aback, snapped back to reality, meeting those icy eyes.

She sighed helplessly, showing a smile, and proposed to him.

"Don't be so wary of me in the future, we are married, couples should trust each other."

Thinking of how tightly this man controlled her whereabouts before, she couldn't help but worry for her future life.

God knows how domineering this man was before, almost controlling every aspect of her life and movements, with no freedom at all.

Finishing her words, Noah Drexler's handsome face showed a mocking expression.

"Summer Shawcross, is there anything about you from head to toe that I can trust?"

"..." His words stifled Summer Shawcross because she couldn't think of anything to refute him.

"This is the only time you haven't lied to me," Noah Drexler's gaze stayed on her face.

His deep voice carried little emotion, but in those dark eyes, there was clearly a trace of joy.

This was the only time she hadn't lied to him.

And the last time she lied to him was on their wedding night when she coaxed him into drinking that drugged wine and then sneaked away.
