Chapter 15 - Chapter 14

Jackson's POV

Why's she acting like this?

She definitely heard something.

Shit

I head to the car and tell the driver where we're going. I then joined Bel in the back and noticed she couldn't look at me.

WHAT THE HELL DID SHE HEAR?

Not to be a guy, but her top is making it hard not to look at her boobs.

I'm just a man okay, she's hot.

Sue me

"Belinda?"

"Yeah?"

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah"

Her one word responses are starting to piss me off.

I moved from my seat to sit opposite her instead so I could read her properly.

That top! All of a sudden the road is bumpy too which isn't helping.

*clears throat*

"Belinda look at me." I demand in a soft tone.

She does as told, and I couldn't tell what was going on in that pretty little head of hers.

Her eyes looked...lost almost.

I then noticed her struggling not to look at my lips. Her eyes kept going from my eyes to my lips over and over.

"Oh? So that's what's wrong?" I finally asked.

"What? What do you...mean?" She responded, still doing the same thing.

I know exactly what's happening here. Our little moment we had yesterday must've haunted her dreams last night.

"You had a spicy dream about me didn't you?" I asked leaning closer to her.

Her eyes widened and she shook her head in an attempt to stay calm.

She forgets I can tell when she lies. All I need is one look into her eyes and they tell me everything.

I kind of admire that about her. It's like her body physically can't defend itself against my gaze at all. Like looking at me weakens her to the point of not being able to lie with a straight face.

One of the things I love about her.

"No I didn't"

Shame, my baby's embarrassed.

"Don't be embarrassed Bel, I'm flattered." I said, putting my hand close enough to her thigh for her to cross her legs, to avoid me touching her.

"Stop" she demanded in an attempt to stay firm.

I noticed her chest movement has increased rapidly so I grabbed her necklace gently to pull her closer to me and she almost choked on her spit.

Knowing she's into me is making things a bit more tricky. The good boy act is hanging by a thread that grows more precarious everytime she looks at me the way she is right now.

"Tell me what the dream was about?" I urged.

"I told you that I didn't have..."

"Belinda...don't lie to me. I know when you lie to me. What was the dream about? If you tell me it might come true."

Belinda's POV

Oh no...

I knew it! I knew he'd see right through me!

I hate that I can't lie to him. His eyes do something to me. Something I can't control. I get so lost I completely surrender to them. Looking into his eyes genuinely is like venom to my soul.

I know he knows that, which puts me in trouble. He'll see the cracks too and once he does, he'll run. I don't want that to happen because I've grown quite fond of him and he's literally the best security guard I've ever had.

I guess I kind of like him now too...which complicates things.

He asked me what the dream was about and I immediately wanted to die right here on this seat.

His hand on my thigh was making my stomach do...that thing.

Before I lost control and kissed him, the driver stopped the car and let us know we'd arrived, making us both clear our throats and snap out of it.

The tension in the air was hard to ignore.

He jumped out the car first and I pretend not to see him adjusting his pants.

I couldn't help but giggle a bit.

We walked into the building completely silent, knowing we'd definitely be revisiting what just happened in the car later.

The renovations looked good. There's lots of progress already, so we should be opening in a week or so.

"Miss Knight!" The architect greeted politely.

"Hi Paul!" I greeted back matching his energy.

Jackson stepped away to watch from a safe enough distance.

"You know miss Knight, at first I was worried about taking this project, but then I remembered my brother loved this place so working on it would be like honouring him."

"Oh I'm sorry to hear that. He passed away?"

"Murdered. Some bitch killed him two night ago and no one found any tapes from cctv, and no one can tell me her name."

Hmm…interesting

I don't need to look at Jay to know his eyes are focused on Paul like a hawk. Especially after hearing that I murdered his brother in cold blood.

"I'm so sorry to hear that. That's awful."

"It's okay. Hey we should go out for drinks some time?" He suggested, placing his hand on my waist.

Why is he touching me? Why do men feel so comfortable touching you or placing their hand in places that assert their dominance?

He just signed his death wish.

"Of course!" I agreed slowly shifting away and making an excuse to leave.

When we got to the car, Jackson let me in, then stepped away to make a phone call.

He looks pissed.

He then returned and we drove back home in silence.

I decided to doom scroll on my phone and eventually bumped into a live news report announcing the death of Paul Kelce, the celebrity architect we were just with.

I looked up at Jackson and he was as cold as ice.

Even the way he looked at me felt cold.

"I know this was you" I finally said, and he just shrugged his shoulders.

I don't mind him getting rid of Paul after he touched me but I'd like to know why he's being cold towards me.

"Jackson?"

"What do you want me to say Bel?"

"WTF? Hang on now. I didn't do anything to you so stop acting like a little bitch."

"You did it again." He finally cracked.

"What are you talking about?"

"Putting yourself in a position of danger and digging yourself deeper by agreeing to go for drinks with this man. You didn't even take the time to think about if it was a trap to kill you because he clearly suspected you for Calvin's death."

What?

How on earth did he get to that conclusion?
