Chapter 117 - Chapter 117. Team Tag Duel: Blackwing’s One-Turn Explosion! Kuriboh + Multiply Leaves the Old Guard Numb!

Chapter 117. Team Tag Duel: Blackwing's One-Turn Explosion! Kuriboh + Multiply Leaves the Old Guard Numb!

Crow Hogan marveled that the Blackwing Deck's explosive power far surpassed the Blackwings on his side.

At the same time, he pondered the one-card Simoon line.

How exactly did it pull off the so-called triple "Assault,"

or marshal resources to such a terrifying extent?

Even though he was a Blackwing expert in the 5D's world,

right now,

after watching these Blackwing lines, he felt his grasp of Blackwings still wasn't up to par.

He kept feeling like something was missing.

Is it Duel experience?

Yes.

That must be it.

He lacked Duel experience with this distinctive Blackwing build, and since it's a completely different construction, it naturally felt unfamiliar.

If he stubbornly clung only to his own Blackwing Deck experience,

there would be no way to improve.

With that in mind,

Crow immediately raised his head and focused on the short video.

As expected,

after those lines were explained,

what followed was a Blackwing-related Tag Duel showcase.

In the video:

Blackwing Expert: "I'm sure just watching the combo breakdown wasn't enough for everyone!"

Blackwing Expert: "I found a previous Team Duel video."

Blackwing Expert: "I'm confident that after watching, your understanding of Blackwings will reach a higher level!"

"Please enjoy the Team Duel!"

"First turn goes to the A-side Blackwing player!"

After speaking, the expert placed the Blackwing Team Duel short video at the end as the finale.

The Duel info appeared.

A-side: Blackwing player.

B (Blue side): Casual player.

C (Red side): Traptrix player.

D (Blue side): HERO player.

Both teams start at 16,000 Life Points and share one field.

A-side Blackwing Player: "I'm taking the first turn!"

A-side Blackwing Player: "I activate the Continuous Spell, Black Whirlwind!"

A-side Blackwing Player: "I activate the effect of Blackwing – Simoon the Poison Wind in my hand, banish 1 'Blackwing' monster, and pull a second copy of Black Whirlwind from the Deck!"

"Normal Summon Simoon. Chain 1 Black Whirlwind. Chain 2 Black Whirlwind."

"From my Deck I add Blackwing – Sudri the Phantom Glimmer and Blackwing – Vata the Emblem of Wandering."

"I use my Normal Summon to Summon Sudri."

"Chain 1, Sudri's effect to add Blackwing – Twin Shadow."

"Chain 2, Black Whirlwind adds Blackwing – Oroshi the Squall."

"Chain 3, Black Whirlwind adds Blackwing – Shamal the Sandstorm."

"I activate Shamal's effect, send it to the Graveyard to add the Continuous Spell Black Feather Whirlwind and activate it face-up."

"I then Special Summon Vata and activate its effect, and use it together with the Level 2 Blackwing – Chinook the Snow Blast and the Level 4 Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite to Synchro Summon Black-Winged Dragon."

"Black Feather Whirlwind activates and revives Vata from the Graveyard."

"Zephyros's effect bounces the on-field Black Feather Whirlwind to Special Summon itself; instead of taking 400 effect damage, Black-Winged Dragon gains 1 Black Feather Counter."

"I activate Black Feather Whirlwind again."

"Next, Vata and Zephyros Synchro Summon Blackwing – Nothung the Starlight, granting me an additional Normal Summon and knocking off 800 of your LP."

"In the GY, Shamal banishes itself to add Sudri back to hand."

"I Normal Summon Sudri and continue the triple chain."

"Sudri adds a second Blackwing – Twin Shadow."

"The two Black Whirlwinds each add Blackwing – Chinook the Snow Blast and Blackwing – Sharnga the Waning Moon."

"If a monster with 2000 or more ATK exists on the field, we can Special Summon Sharnga."

"I Tuner-Synchro the on-field Level 6 Simoon and the Level 2 Tuner Sharnga to make a second Black-Winged Dragon."

"Sudri's effect Tributes the second Black-Winged Dragon to Special Summon a Level 2 Tuner Token; instead of taking 700 damage, Black-Winged Dragon gains a counter."

"I Tuner-Synchro the Level 2 Tuner Token with the Level 4 Zephyros."

"Use 4 + 2 to make Blackwing – Boreastorm the Wicked Wind. On activation it sends a second Oroshi from the Deck to the GY and changes its own Level to 1."

"I Tuner-Synchro the Level 1 Tuner Boreastorm with the first Black-Winged Dragon to make Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss."

"In the GY, I banish Black-Winged Dragon and Boreastorm to Special Summon Black-Winged Assault Dragon."

"Black Feather Whirlwind, refreshed, revives the banished Boreastorm."

"Use the Level 6 Tuner Boreastorm with the on-field Level 4 Sudri to Synchro Summon a second Black-Winged Assault Dragon."

"Then I banish Black-Winged Dragon in the GY and Boreastorm in the GY to Special Summon a third Black-Winged Assault Dragon."

"I set 1 card. My turn is about to end."

"At the same time, due to Simoon's self-restriction, send Black Whirlwind to the GY, and I take 100 damage."

Going first, the Blackwing player used double Black Whirlwind to demonstrate the ultimate Simoon-plus-Whirlwind explosive line to Duelists across the worlds.

And this Blackwing player was obviously on pure Blackwings.

Their ace monsters on field occupied three zones with Black-Winged Assault Dragon, plus one Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss, and one Blackwing – Nothung the Starlight.

The only visible disruption seemed to be the Abyss on board,

and the three Assault Dragons whose burns will trigger as effects resolve.

But in reality,

there was also Blackwing – Sharnga the Waning Moon in the Graveyard for a Quick Effect pop,

and in hand they still held Blackwing – Chinook the Snow Blast for a Quick Effect negate and ATK reduction.

Under the double Black Whirlwind flood,

this Blackwing first turn had already pulled resources to the absolute limit.

Just this board

was already terrifying—shocking, even—to Duelists across the worlds.

In the DM world,

Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba, and the others drew sharp breaths.

They stared, stunned, at the absurd Blackwing swarming and the sheer volume of searching.

"So this is… Blackwings?"

"After all that searching and development, they still have so much left in hand!"

"The set card should be Blackwing – Twin Shadow to recycle via Synchro."

"They even kept one more card in reserve."

Next to them, Joey Wheeler blinked and muttered to himself.

The shock in his heart was still mounting.

Meanwhile, in the 5D's world,

Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas looked at each other.

It seemed it wasn't only the explosive lines for Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend that left them speechless.

Even Crow Hogan's Blackwing Deck,

in the higher world, exploded in a way no less impressive than their aces.

Seeing Blackwing aces burst forth in the truest sense,

Crow Hogan was already seriously organizing his thoughts.

He was determined to become a true Blackwing player as soon as possible.

He wanted to improve—so badly.

In the video,

the Blackwing player's turn had ended.

Next it was B (Blue side), the Casual player.

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "My turn. After I draw 1 card, I activate Raigeki."

A-side Blackwing Player: "Chain. I activate the on-field Abyss to negate your Raigeki."

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "I'll chain Called by the Grave from my hand, targeting your Blackwing – Sharnga the Waning Moon in the GY to banish it."

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "With the threat cleared, it's finally my time to have some fun!"

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "I Normal Summon this monster—Kuriboh."

Kuriboh?

What the heck?

Raigeki and Called by the Grave,

just to bring out this chump hand-trap monster as a Normal Summon?

Huh?

What on earth was this Casual player trying to do?

Both teammate and opponents went blank when, after removing the GY threat,

the Casual player flipped out a Level 1, 300/200 Kuriboh as a Normal Summon.

What kind of specialty player was this?

What are you even doing with a Normal Summoned Kuriboh?

Even Duelists across the worlds

were dumbfounded seeing him pull a Kuriboh—and Normal Summon it, no less.

Like… seriously?

He isn't planning to clear an entire Blackwing board with Kuriboh, is he?

No way, right?

What trick could he possibly use?

Just as everyone wondered,

the video gave the answer.

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "I activate the Spell—Multiply."

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "I Special Summon five Kuriboh Tokens to my field (Fiend/DARK/Level 1/ATK 300/DEF 200)."

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "Then I activate this card—The Law of the Normal."

"When five Level 2 or lower Normal Monsters exist face-up on my field, I can activate it."

"Both players discard their entire hands, and destroy all cards on the field other than Level 2 or lower Normal Monsters."

With those two Spells dropped in tandem,

Duelists from all six worlds were left utterly stupefied.

Holy—!

Genius!

A true genius!

Kuriboh plus Multiply plus The Law of the Normal equals full board clear.

What's even crazier,

both players also have to send their entire hands to the Graveyard.

Which means the resource cards the Blackwing player searched earlier…

all turn to bubbles.

Thinking of that,

the old guard completely lost it.

In the DM world,

Yugi Muto and the Pharaoh Atem both twitched at the mouth.

Kuriboh? Multiply?

Then using The Law of the Normal?

This Casual player understands Kuriboh even better than those two?

No way. That combo is nasty.

That Blackwing board… basically can't hold it together anymore.

Seto Kaiba was suddenly hit by a wave of painful memories.

Back when he Dueled Yugi, Yugi also Normal Summoned Kuriboh with Multiply.

He didn't expect it to appear again now.

Dead memories were attacking him.

In the 5D's world,

seeing his Blackwing ally's massive advantage about to be wiped, Crow Hogan was dumbstruck.

Especially seeing the entire board full of Blackwing resources,

Crow's will almost collapsed.

Casual players really do always pull off moves that make you black out.

What kind of "casual" is this, huh?

"Don't panic. It seems both sides still have outs."

"Did you forget the set Trap?"

"It's time to start chaining."

Yusei Fudo calmed down quickly and analyzed.

Sure enough,

the next clash in the video had only just begun.

A-side Blackwing Player: "Hold it. I chain my set Trap—Blackwing – Twin Shadow."

A-side Blackwing Player: "I return the Level 4 Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite from my GY and the banished Level 6 Synchro Tuner Blackwing – Boreastorm the Wicked Wind to the Deck."

A-side Blackwing Player: "Synchro Summon—Blackwing Full Armor Master in Defense Position!"

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "Now my effect resolves. Everything on your field—"

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "And every card in your hand—are destroyed and sent to the Graveyard!"

Because the chain resolved earlier,

after Blackwing Full Armor Master hit the field with full protection,

the destruction didn't affect Full Armor Master.

But obviously, those five Kuriboh Tokens could still be used for a Link Summon.

The game wasn't over.

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "I Link Summon I:P Masquerena using 2 Tokens."

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "I also Link Summon Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy using another 2 Tokens."

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "Link both Link Monsters again. Check the Link Arrows."

"Link-4—Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax."

"Battle Phase! Avramax's effect kicks in, it powers up and then destroys your Blackwing Full Armor Master by battle."

"That's the ripple I'm leaving for my teammate."

"Turn end."

After that exchange,

the Blackwing player was still behind.

On board, Avramax had been Link Summoned using I:P Masquerena as material,

so it also carried protection against being destroyed by the opponent's card effects.

And as the king of brawling, Avramax's resistances aren't weak either.

The advantage had been fully seized by the Casual player.

However,

because of The Law of the Normal,

both players' hands were completely sent to the Graveyard.

Their follow-ups were basically hopeless, so they'd have to rely on their teammates.

Meanwhile,

the turn passed to C (Red side), the Traptrix player.

C (Red side), Traptrix Player: "My turn. Draw."

C (Red side), Traptrix Player: "Don't worry. Even though my Blackwing teammate's resources got blown up by your disgusting combo,"

C (Red side), Traptrix Player: "I'm different. I'll keep rolling my resources into a bigger snowball."

"I Normal Summon Traptrix Dionaea. One card to Link Summon the Link-1 Traptrix Sera."

"The 'Parallel eXceed' in my hand Special Summons itself and becomes Level 4."

"Parallel eXceed's effect Special Summons a second 'Parallel eXceed' from the Deck; it becomes Level 4."

"I've got two Level 4 monsters."

"Overlay for an Xyz Summon. I build the Overlay Network."

"Number 39: Utopia."

"Then I Xyz Summon on top—Number S39: Utopia the Lightning."

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "???"

B (Blue side), Casual Player: "You're even running Utopia and the Lightning? Dang."

C (Red side), Traptrix Player: "Heh-heh. Now you know. In the Battle Phase, after detaching materials, The Lightning locks at 5000 ATK. Looks like your final Avramax ripple won't cut it."

C (Red side), Traptrix Player: "Utopia the Lightning—attack. Destroy your Avramax."

"Take 2000 damage."

"My cutest Sera will pop your last Token too."

"I set three to the back row. Turn end. Please advise."

Utopia?

The Lightning?

Holy—!

The brawler king Avramax just got deleted?

The old-guard Duelists across the worlds stared blankly at how quickly the advantage and the board state flipped in the video.

Even more ridiculous,

that brawler king Avramax had I:P as material,

and it still wasn't a match for The Lightning here.

After all, locking to 5000 ATK in the Battle Phase

sometimes really works wonders.

Avramax couldn't even trigger its parting effect.

With that one counterattack from the Blackwing teammate's Traptrix,

the advantage was hammered back around again.

In the ZEXAL world,

seeing Utopia rank up into The Lightning to finish Avramax,

Yuma Tsukumo couldn't hold back a big grin.

"As expected, Utopia and The Lightning are still strong!"

"What 'small-fry' Avramax? I'll just ask this—can Avramax beat The Lightning?"

"I'm dying over here!"

Even as he chuckled, Yuma understood Traptrix Decks can't be separated from Traps,

which also meant the three set back-row cards in Traptrix's back line

were definitely not that simple.

"Uh, but I gotta admit—Sera is super cute."

"I'm kinda getting interested in the Traptrix Deck."

Standing to the side with a completely different focus, Bronk Stone kept his eyes glued to the Traptrix Link Monster, Traptrix Sera.

That left Yuma and Astral both a bit dumbfounded.

They didn't expect Bronk to be interested in this kind of bug-girl deck.

So… is Sera really that cute?
