Chapter 78 - CHAPTER 78

c78 — Frieza Is Resurrected

"Haha!"

"Mr. Lin Hao is so confident! But Master Beerus' talent for cultivation is exceptional!"

"Maybe next time we meet, Lord Beerus will be stronger than Mr. Lin Hao…"

Whis nodded in agreement with Beerus' potential. You must understand—among the Gods of Destruction across the twelve universes, Beerus ranks among the most formidable. He has reached the fringes of Ultra Instinct; his innate talent as a destroyer is extraordinary. Even so, to think a mortal like Lin Hao had approached and in some ways surpassed such instinct made Beerus burn with a mixture of pride and shame.

"Really? I hope so. Next time he faces me, he might be able to force out half of my strength," Lin Hao said casually. If Beerus grew stronger, surely everyone's baseline would rise Lin Hao expected his own power to continue developing as well.

"Oh hoho… Indeed, Mr. Lin Hao, among mortals you are the most extraordinary I've encountered. Your strength not only rivaled the Gods of Destruction, but it even vaguely surpassed my angelic perception," Whis said with a rare, sincere smile.

"It seems Lord Beerus will have a difficult time catching up to you," Whis added. It was the first time he'd seriously contemplated a mortal eclipsing angelic capability.

"Well, now that you're full, Whis, let me show you around Earth. If you want more delicacies later, Bulma can always take care of you when I'm busy she knows every culinary delight on the planet," Lin Hao stood, offering the invitation with his usual calm.

"Bulma? The woman from the yacht party last time?" Whis tilted his head.

"Yes, she's the planet's wealthiest and has access to every kind of cuisine. You'll be spoiled."

"Oh, splendid!"

Lin Hao called Android 18 and his son Lin Yi, then took Whis shopping in Xidu the largest metropolis to sample more earthly pleasures and let the angel experience the variety of mortal life.

Time passed.

Four months later.

At Lin Hao's home on Earth, the system's familiar chime sounded.

"Ding dong Host has accumulated sign-ins for four months. Do you wish to claim?" the voice of the system chimed in Lin Hao's ears.

"Well, I saved up without meaning to four months! Fine. Sign in. Let's see what I get. I hope it's worthwhile; otherwise all that saving was for nothing!" Lin Hao stretched on a chair and muttered.

"Congratulations, Host reward: Immortality (as long as one cell remains, previous life will not die)."

"Immortality? Huh. I was hoping for a golden fridge instead… Active rewards, please!" Lin Hao joked to himself. Much had changed on Earth these past months: Son Gohan's daughter Xiaofang had been born; Goku and Vegeta, after learning Whis was Beerus' mentor, had spent time in the Destroyer Realm practicing. Beerus himself had been distracted from his vendetta by the delicious food and his own obsessive training.

Not long after Whis' visit, Lin Hao sensed a universe-class ship entering Earth's vicinity Frieza's forces had returned. Their mission was straightforward: recover the Dragon Balls and resurrect Frieza. Since Frieza's apparent death, his empire had fractured and opportunists had carved up his holdings. His loyal remnants wanted their emperor back to reclaim dominance.

What those minions didn't expect was that Frieza's first thought once resurrected would not be territory, but vengeance against the Saiyans. The Golden Frieza reforged and hungrier than ever intended to make Saiyans pay.

Elsewhere in Universe 7, on a harsh, desolate training world, Frieza stood cold and remorseless. His aura flared with cruel intent as he trained his body and will.

Tagoma knelt before him, bearing the marks of intense drills and modifications a faithful subordinate who'd worked to restore every fragment of Frieza's power. Frieza stamped his boot, forcing Tagoma to hold down equipment and resist the pressure; it was intimidation and discipline rather than the lewd cruelty of monsters. Each press of Frieza's weight punctuated his words.

"Soon," Frieza hissed, voice low and venomous. "Those Saiyan monkeys will learn what it means to cross me. Kakarot, Lin Hao feel the weight of my name."

Tagoma gasped under the strain, gritting his teeth as he struggled against the pressure. He had trained relentlessly with Frieza these last months: engineering new weapons, reinforcing armor, and overseeing biological conditioning to restore Frieza's peak form. But in Frieza's eyes, Tagoma remained merely a tool — expendable and to be perfected.

Frieza's lips curled. "Prepare the ship. Upgrade our systems, rebuild the armaments. Tomorrow, I want improved targeting matrices or you'll be the one replaced." The threat was clinical; obedience was demanded, not earned.

Tagoma nodded, fear evident in his eyes. He had seen Frieza's temper when denied. He knew better than to disappoint his emperor.

"Damn Saiyan monkey," Frieza muttered as he stalked back to his throne on the flagship. "I will savor dismantling them. I won't take back what's mine so much as I will make them suffer." He settled onto his throne and closed his eyes, plotting torment as methodically as one would plan a campaign.

In his imagination, he replayed the humiliations he'd suffered the shock of defeat at Goku's hands, the bitter memory of being bested by a mortal like Lin Hao. That memory burned hotter than any thermal reactor. Revenge would be refined and deliberate; no longer would he rush in. He would craft a slow, exquisite ruin.

Across space, Frieza's ship readied itself; ground crews and loyalists scoured databases for Dragon Ball locations. Resurrection had to be perfect no more hurried gambits that left him vulnerable. This time, Frieza would return restored, sharper, and driven by the single-minded pursuit of vengeance.

Back on Earth, Lin Hao glanced skyward at the faint trace of the approaching fleet, bit into his chicken leg, and said, carefree: "So they've come to play. We'll see if they can keep up."

And somewhere on the flagship, Frieza's cold laughter echoed into the metal corridors a promise that the next time their paths crossed, the universe would tremble.
