Chapter 77 - CHAPTER 77

c77 — Whis Is Coming

"No, it's only been one day of training. You won't starve to death without food anyway. I have to become stronger. It's best if I can perfect Ultra Instinct next time, and then I'll show that guy Lin Hao who's really the strongest."

Beerus retorted, his tail flicking irritably as purple sparks crackled from his aura.

Every time he thought about being defeated by Lin Hao so effortlessly, his pride as a God of Destruction burned with humiliation.

What made it worse was that Lin Hao had instinctively mastered Ultra Instinct a divine technique Beerus himself hadn't yet perfected after millions of years.

If he wanted to erase that disgrace, he had to surpass Lin Hao and crush him using the same divine power.

"Digg…"

Whis chuckled softly, tapping his scepter against the ground as he watched the fuming Beerus. "My, my, Lord Beerus, I don't mean to discourage you, but… your wish might be a bit difficult to realize. From what I've seen, Mr. Lin Hao's power wasn't even at its limit when he fought you. Are you sure you still want to continue training so soon?"

"This… Whis, you mean you can't even read his strength properly?" Beerus asked, his eyes narrowing.

Whis thought for a moment, then sighed lightly. "To be honest, Lord Beerus, that mortal's energy signature… it's beyond divine comprehension. Perhaps even I wouldn't be confident against him."

"What?!" Beerus' ears twitched. "You mean that mortal's stronger than you? Damn it! That's unacceptable! Whis, send me to that place to train!"

"That place…?" Whis raised a brow. "You mean the Destruction Realm Core?"

"Yes!" Beerus clenched his fists. "Even though the energy there could erase me if I lose focus, no other place can push me further! If I want to surpass that guy Lin Hao, I'll take any risk!"

In the past, Beerus would never have endured such torment, but after hearing Lin Hao might even surpass Whis, his godly pride flared again. He would train until his power roared like the Hakai energy itself.

Whis smiled faintly. "Very well, Lord Beerus. If you insist."

He waved his staff, and a rift of swirling violet energy opened above the crystalline floor.

Beerus took one last deep breath, his golden eyes firm with determination, then leapt into the portal with a flash of divine light.

"Oh hoho, since Lord Beerus is training there, I suppose I have some free time," Whis hummed, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Perhaps I should… pay Earth another visit. After all, their cuisine is truly divine especially compared to Lord Beerus' burnt noodles."

"Master Beerus, please train hard! I'll be sure to bring you some souvenirs!" Whis said cheerfully, before tapping the ground three times. A nine-colored light enveloped him, and in an instant, he vanished from the God of Destruction's world.

Meanwhile, on Earth inside Lin Hao's home.

Lin Hao sat at a large outdoor table filled with steaming dishes: roasted meat, grilled fish, stir-fried vegetables, and desserts that would make even Majin Buu drool. Though Android 18 could cook well, Lin Hao preferred doing it himself; it was his favorite pastime outside of training.

Just as he took a bite of a perfectly grilled chicken leg, a familiar hum echoed from above.

A column of divine light descended, and Whis' tall figure slowly appeared, his halo glowing faintly.

"Huh? Whis? Why are you here?" Lin Hao looked up in surprise.

"Oh hoho, looks like I came at the perfect time! There's such a spread of food!" Whis' eyes sparkled like a child's.

"Mr. Lin Hao, you don't mind if I join you, do you?" Whis clasped his hands politely but his gaze was locked on the food.

Lin Hao sighed, shaking his head helplessly. "Eat, eat. One more person doesn't make a difference."

"Excellent! Thank you kindly!" Whis grinned, conjured a chair with his staff, and sat down gracefully but immediately began devouring food with startling enthusiasm.

Lin Hao raised an eyebrow. "What's this? Did Beerus starve you or something?"

Whis paused mid-bite, looking embarrassed. "Ahem, actually yes! Ever since you beat him, Lord Beerus has refused to eat or rest. He's been sulking and demanding constant training. I haven't even had breakfast!"

"Haha! And somehow that's my fault?" Lin Hao laughed. "He's the one who challenged me, and he's the one who lost. If he's hungry, that's his problem. He'll live."

"Indeed, indeed, Lord Beerus brought it upon himself," Whis admitted, chewing happily. "But let's not discuss him now. The food's getting cold!"

Lin Hao couldn't help but chuckle at Whis' complete lack of his usual refined composure.

"Alright, eat up. If it's not enough, I'll make more."

"Marvelous! These flavors unbelievable!" Whis exclaimed, tasting a dish. "I can't believe you cooked all this yourself, Mr. Lin Hao. You could open a restaurant in Universe 7!"

"Belch…"

After nearly an hour of eating (and Lin Hao cooking more halfway through), the two finally leaned back in their chairs, thoroughly satisfied.

"My, my… I haven't tasted food this exquisite in eons," Whis said, patting his stomach with a blissful expression. "The meals on Beerus' planet can't even compare. It makes me question what I've been doing all these hundreds of millions of years."

"Haha, looks like your centuries of divine duty have been hard on your taste buds," Lin Hao teased. "Come to Earth more often. The food here changes every day you'll never get bored."

"Oh hoho, you may regret saying that. I might take you up on that offer indefinitely," Whis smiled. "Though… that's assuming Lord Beerus doesn't destroy the planet first."

"Let him try," Lin Hao said calmly, his aura flaring just slightly. "If he so much as scratches a blade of grass here, I'll smack him down again. As long as I'm around, Earth will stay safe."

Whis chuckled quietly. He could sense the quiet confidence radiating from Lin Hao, it wasn't arrogance. It was the serene certainty of someone who had surpassed even gods.

As Whis sipped his final cup of tea, he thought: So this is the mortal who reached an instinct beyond divinity itself…

And far away, deep within the Destruction Realm Core, Beerus' roar echoed across the void his training having only just begun.
