Carl's presence had long since vanished from the living room. Andy washed his face in the bathroom, took out a bottle of mineral water from the refrigerator, opened it, and drank a few sips. The cool, slightly sweet water refreshed him.
I walked into the study, turned on the computer on the luxurious desk, sat in the comfortable boss chair, looked at everything around me, and waited quietly for the computer to start up.
He pulled out a piece of paper from the desk drawer, opened the Montblanc pen, and began to list the names that came to his mind in Chinese on the paper.
Andy put down his pen and looked at the listed contents, then he breathed a sigh of relief.
"It seems like a lot of them are unusable, not to mention there's not much to write about. 'The Bourne Supremacy' should have been filmed long ago, 'Prometheus' is a prequel to the 'Alien' series and doesn't even qualify as a film. 'Inception' is fine, though."
"Kingsman: The Golden Circle is great. We can definitely incorporate all the stories from the 007 series we've seen in the future into it to create a new major IP!"
"'Frozen' and 'The Huntsman: Winter's War' could be combined into a collection of dark fairy tale novellas. Then, add in some of the fairy tale adaptations I've read and compile a complete volume. Once published, the film rights alone could generate a fortune."
"'National Treasure' should have been filmed a long time ago. 'Now You See Me' is fine. 'The Hangover' and 'Ted' should only be written as movie scripts."
Andy Smith used a pen to make notes on paper after thinking. There were only a few movies, and the three novels that made him happiest were "The Hunger Games", "Divergent" and "The Walking Dead". Although they were all Chinese translations, he could translate them into English and reproduce them.
What drove him crazy the most was the several American TV series listed on the paper. Only one, "Under the Dome", was in its first season, and the others were incomplete. "Person of Interest" did have a beginning and an end, but it was missing a season of episodes in the middle.
Further down are some songs, some in Chinese, some in Korean and some in Foot Basin, and the rest are in English. Some are old songs and have no value.
I opened Google and typed in "The Bourne Supremacy", hoping for a butterfly effect, having been poisoned by all kinds of time-travel online novels.
"Ah! The online literature masters really didn't cheat me. There's actually a butterfly effect. There's no Bourne movie, and wow, there's no National Treasure! Shit, there's Alien. Wait, calm down, you have to calm down. Is there a Hunger Games book? Haha, no, as expected, God is still kind to me!"
He excitedly grabbed the search result with only a few crossed out, and jumped up and down in the study room with laughter.
After calming down a bit, Andy sat down again, clicking the mouse with trembling fingers, browsing various news. He did not miss almost any news, domestic, international, entertainment, and financial. He checked them carefully one by one, but there was no change. The world situation did not change because of his arrival.
"The Taoist said it well, the big trend cannot be reversed, but the small trend can be changed!"
By the way, with the subprime mortgage crisis in 2008, perhaps my dream of becoming rich won't be too far away.
He rubbed his face vigorously, which was stiff with excitement, and took a deep breath. The excitement that was difficult to suppress made his heart beat rapidly.
"The future belongs to me!"
Andy clenched his fists excitedly and waved them in the air.
The excitement lasted for a long time. After slowly calming down, he took out a new piece of paper, picked up a pen, took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and concentrated all his attention. It seemed as if a black hole appeared in his brain and sucked his soul in.
In his consciousness, he opened his eyes and watched as the grayish-white cloud of his soul, sparking with electric sparks, entered a tunnel of images, sounds, and text, where he could browse the contents at will.
He quickly retrieved content containing future information from those online articles, and his body outside immediately responded, and the rustling sound of writing was heard in the study.
Consciousness returns,
Andy slowly opened his eyes, looked at the blood dripping onto the white paper, shook his head and smiled bitterly. His soul was so strong that his body could not support it. It seemed that he would not be able to enter the memory tunnel again before his body recovered.
After wiping the blood from his nose, Andy picked up the white paper with only a few lines of words on it and looked at it carefully.
"The subprime mortgage crisis began to emerge in March 2007. In April, the second-largest subprime mortgage company in the United States went bankrupt, exposing the risks of subprime mortgage bonds. In August 2008, the stock prices of the two largest US mortgage giants plummeted, triggering the global economic crisis."
Neither Andy nor Song Dawei knows much about finance, but now that they have the timing, they can find a team that is proficient in economics to operate it, and the profit returns will definitely increase exponentially.
"Money, money! The key right now is US dollars. If we want to make a difference in this economic crisis, we must get a large amount of US dollars!"
After memorizing the contents of the two pieces of paper, Andy muttered US dollars, but his hands did not stop moving. He turned on the shredder and watched the two pieces of white paper turned into confetti. He was still not at ease, so he found a stainless steel basin from the kitchen, threw the confetti into the basin, and ignited it with a lighter.
After the paper scraps were burned out, Andy lit a cigarette, took a deep breath and exhaled, watching the smoke drift and slowly dissipate. With less than a year left, it should be enough for him to get a considerable amount of money.
If I mortgage my house or sell it now, and add the money in the bank to make up five million US dollars, it should not be a problem. The current stock market is so good, and it will break through 12,000 points in the next few months, so I should be able to make a lot of money.
I can't speak for other stocks, but as someone who works with mobile phones, Song Dawei knows Apple very well. Aside from the sharp drop in 2008 due to the economic crisis, its stock price has soared from a few cents in 2003 to $429 in 2012, a 63-fold increase.
He used Google to find Apple's stock price, which was a little over $53. Although it had dropped slightly, he knew it wouldn't be that low again in the next ten years.
The most prominent part of the future world economy is the fan economy. Whether it is Apple fans or fans of celebrities, or even more so, those internet celebrities who do everything they can to become famous and attract fans, because these fans can be converted into huge wealth.
This is Hollywood, the temple of film. It is not easy to make yourself influential here.
Although Andy was a young writer with two published books and a certain amount of exposure, it had been a while since he'd published anything. In Hollywood, the world of fame and fortune, fame comes quickly, but forgetfulness is equally as quick. Fortunately, Andy's various suicidal behaviors over the past year or so have been covered by several tabloids, even if they were ridiculed and derogatory. This gave Andy a sense of smug joy.
In the future, internet celebrities seeking fame will do anything to achieve their goals. They'll be happy even if they're cursed by thousands, let alone slandered. No matter how bizarre or despicable their tactics are, as long as they can become famous, they'll be considered successful. It just takes time to whitewash themselves.
I opened Blogger, a Google-owned blog, and dug up my username and password from memory. The last update was three months ago, and the number of followers was in the tens of thousands. I casually browsed the blog, but there wasn't much useful information. The comments were mixed, with some mocking, some encouraging, and some expressing envy.
I still have quite a few followers. Before Facebook and Twitter came along, blogging was the newest trend. Managing this space well was essential.
Twitter was founded in March 2006, and Facebook's pockmarked founder was even earlier. In the future, Zuck, the pockmarked founder, has acquired nearly every company that could pose a threat to Facebook.
He shook his head to get rid of his messy thoughts and frowned slightly, "What should I write?"
Thinking of Hua Xia's Weibo, a smile slowly appeared on the corner of his mouth. "I'm so stupid. Chicken soup for the soul, if that doesn't work, then some poisonous soup for the soul. As long as it's original, it's fine."
The sound of keyboard clacking and Andy's slightly evil smirk echoed in the study.
"Another day has passed. How was your day? Did your dream get any further?"
"As long as it's a stone, it won't shine anywhere."
"You just need to watch others excel, because God has other plans for you."
Andy lit a cigarette with a certain smugness, his fingers tapping on the armrest of his chair. "Writing a blog for Seventeen magazine wouldn't be so bad! Sharing my complaints and venting all sorts of mental garbage with others would be a meaningful thing, right? Hehe."
He glanced at the Cartier watch on his wrist and shook it a few times in a pretentious manner. "Time flies! It's already noon. No, I have to go out and find a fancy restaurant to have a good time. After all, I'm a rich man now. I can't let myself down."
