Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Loans and Stocks

Chapter 6 Loans and Stocks

Andy sat on the recliner, playing with his mobile phone and smiling. In the past, Andy really hated his agent, especially in the past six months, when Carl kept persuading him and looking for work for him everywhere. This made the very proud Andy feel ashamed. After all, he was young and frivolous and could not understand the agent's intentions.

Now Andy actually likes this wretched fat man a little. In this money-oriented world, it is really not easy to see a little humanity in Carl, especially in the profession of agent. It is really that whoever has milk is the mother and whoever has money is the master. They will cheat you without any negotiation, spend your money, play with your wife, and do anything.

But thinking of Carl's secretary, Andy became worried again. That woman was no pushover. This was Hollywood, and everyone who came here was focused on climbing up the social ladder. This world of fame and fortune was a battlefield where people stepped on each other and devoured each other. The weak did not deserve to succeed here.

The fat guy won't listen to advice, and he'll fall down sooner or later! He stood up and stretched, clearing away his messy thoughts, picked up the coffee cup on the table and walked into the house.

I brought the freshly brewed coffee to the study, sat in front of the computer, looked at the text in the document, moved my fingers, and continued typing on the keyboard.

Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, I watched the rain falling from the gloomy sky, hitting the glass and splashing water everywhere.

Andy checked the time. It was already past nine o'clock, and it was almost time to leave as agreed with the bank. He tidied himself up, picked up his car keys, and walked into the garage.

Accompanied by the splashing rain and the roar of sports cars, Andy arrived at the Los Angeles branch of Bank of America.

When we walked into the lobby, lawyer Nelson and accountant Kohler were already waiting in the sofa area.

Seeing Andy coming towards them, they both stood up and went to meet him. Andy quickened his pace and walked in front of them, greeting them both. "Damn this weather, am I not late?"

"Haha, boss, we have plenty of time." Kohler, a smart and capable accountant in his thirties, was introduced to Andy by Nelson when he first arrived in Los Angeles. He is very professional.

The three of them sat down and chatted for a while. Nelson took out a stack of documents from his bag and handed them to Andy. "These are asset appraisals and copyright appraisals. Boss, take a look first."

Andy took the document and glanced through it. "How much money can we borrow from the bank?"

"The real estate market is booming right now, with prices soaring. Boss, your house has been assessed to be worth around four million dollars. The copyrights of your two works were recently included in the juvenile book catalog. Even though the film adaptation rights for one of them have already been sold, you can still get a loan of $2-3 million." Kohler explained to Andy calmly, but his eyes occasionally flashed with an imperceptible glint of envy.

"Oh," Andy closed the document and handed it back to Nelson, "What's the loan interest rate?"

Kohler quickly pulled out a form and said, "This is the interest rate table for all banks that accept copyright loans. Bank of America has the lowest interest rate, but the amount of the mortgage loan needs to be negotiated."

"Well, leave professional matters to professionals. I believe in your abilities." Andy took a look at the form, smiled and handed it back to Kohler.

Nelson checked the time, signaled to Andy, and the three of them stood up and walked towards the account manager's office.

The bank's credit manager was a man about fifty years old. He wore a well-ironed suit and had his hair combed neatly. He looked very capable, with a smile on his face and a very gentle demeanor.

Seeing Andy and the others come in, he stood up and greeted them with a smile. "Boss, this is Mr. Lewis, the credit account manager of Bank of America. Mr. Lewis, this is my boss, Andy Smith," Kohler introduced.

After hearing this, Lewis smiled even brighter and shook hands with Andy and said, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Smith.

I really like your work."

Andy also smiled and shook hands with him and said, "Thank you, it's my honor to meet you."

The two men let go of each other's hands and exchanged a few pleasantries. After both parties sat down, Andy said, "Mr. Lewis, I believe Kohler should have discussed the specific loan project with you. I wonder how much money your bank can lend me?"

Lewis took the asset appraisal document handed to him by Kohler. He was not surprised by Andy's simplicity and directness. The amount of this business was not large, but the security and stability of the house mortgage and copyright mortgage were what he valued.

"Mr. Smith, our bank has the lowest repayment interest rate. Please believe that we are sincere in lending you the money. Here is our report. Please take a look." Lewis took out a stack of documents and handed it to Andy, and began to explain to them.

After hearing their terms, Andy quietly discussed the details with Nelson and Kohler, and after negotiating a few more details, they quickly reached an agreement. Nelson and Kohler began to review all the legal documents and some details. Both sides were reviewing the documents, and it would not be easy to complete them in a short period of time.

Andy waited patiently, drinking the coffee in the cup, thinking slowly. The current Apple stock price was a little over 51 dollars, and he couldn't waste any more time. This time he could borrow a total of 6 million US dollars plus his deposit of 2 million US dollars, which was all he could get, unless he asked his grandfather for a loan. Although his grandfather was a famous large farmer in California, what Andy needed now was cash. Thinking about the subsequent troubles and various explanations, he decided to forget it.

It's not too much or too little, just earn as much as you can. It's just the first pot of gold anyway, and there are so many opportunities to make a fortune.

Andy broke free from the entanglement of missing out on maximizing profits, breathed a sigh of relief, and calmed down. After more than half an hour, Andy started to get busy, signing documents one after another and mortgaging the three assets.

Six million dollars was deposited into Andy's account, and then the two chatted for a few minutes before leaving. Lewis and Andy exchanged phone numbers. Lewis admired this young writer very much. After all, it wouldn't hurt to know one more friend.

After walking out of the Bank of America building, the rain outside had stopped. After saying goodbye to Nelson, under the guidance of Kohler, Andy opened a stock account, bound his bank card, went home, downloaded the stock software, and transferred all the funds into the stock account.

"Boss, are we going to use the $8 million to buy stocks?" Kohler asked with a doubtful look after a moment's hesitation.

Andy smiled mysteriously, looked at the accountant with a slightly embarrassed expression, nodded, and did not explain much. In Kohler's explanation, he became familiar with the stock transfer operation. Watching Kohler leave with a suspicious and sarcastic look, and closing the door, Andy snorted, it seems that I need a new financial advisor!

Kohler got into the car with a sneer of contempt on his face, "What a prodigal son! You really think you are a genius and know everything! You will cry one day." He looked at the luxurious villa outside the car window with malicious and jealous eyes, and picked up the phone for some unknown reason.

"Hello, is this Mr. Nelson? I'm Kohler."

"Hi, Kohler, hello, what's up?" Nelson put down the documents in his hand and adjusted to a comfortable sitting position. He was very caring towards the son of this college classmate.

"Sir, do you know that Mr. Smith transferred all his funds into the stock market? But he has never been exposed to stocks. I just gave him the instructions for using the stock software, and he refused my help. I'm afraid he will lose everything in the end." Kohler said with a hint of gloating tone.

"Huh? Investing in the stock market?" Nelson was slightly taken aback and said in surprise, but he quickly reacted. He heard the sarcasm towards Andy in Kohler's tone. His brows furrowed, as if he had guessed Kohler's intentions, and he sneered. "Oh, no matter what the situation is, it's the customer's choice. We just need to do our job well. Well, if there's nothing else, I have a meeting to attend. Give my regards to your father."

Hearing the busy tone and Nelson's cold tone, Khloe was stunned. Looking at the phone in her hand, she angrily said, "Fuck, you actually taught me a lesson, bitch!"

After Nelson hung up the phone, he paced back and forth in the office, his brow furrowed and his face full of worry, and finally picked up the phone.

"Hello, is this Mr. Smith? I'm Nelson, and I want to talk to you about Andy Smith's situation..."
