Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Welcome to Hell/High School

Landon POV:

'No matter how old you get, standing in front of class is always going to be stressful,' I think to myself as I stand next to Mr. Steiner's table, my new homeroom teacher.

"All right, settle down! We have a new addition to our class. This is Landon Kirby; he is joining us for now, then on. Landon, you can sit behind Ethan!" Mr. Steiners points to an empty seat behind a boy with a red sport jacket.

I make my way to my seat while quietly observing the class; several bored gazes barely look at me, while others look at me with some interest.

I can see the regular high school 'Clicks' around the room, jocks with cheerleaders, nerds, and even goths.

'No matter the year, school is always the same, a hell of hormones with tons of adolescent issues glued together,' I think as I slid into my new seat and slung my backpack on it.

"Hey man! My name is Ethan. Welcome to our little hellhole!" The boy, Ethan, turns and says to me with a hand put out for a shake.

I stop for a moment as he looks familiar but can't remember from where.

"Thanks, let me guess, slow class?" I ask him, as the whole vibe of the school is that my arrival is the only noteworthy thing in a time.

"More like a slow semester, outside from a few games; things just have been slow. Hey, which class do you have after this?" he asks me, to which I nod at that; judging by his jacket, he is probably on the football team.

"Chemistry with Ms. Field" I tell him, still getting used to my new routine of obligatory classes

"Me too, we can go together so that you know the way, okay?" He offers me

'Judging by the students reacting to him, he is a bit popular, athletic, and a football player, not an asshole as far as I can tell. He is just trying to help the new kid. ' Thanks to Roy's observation and political skills, I can read situations a lot better and plan a better form to react to them, especially with Mirakuru boosting my mind, something very good for dealing with beings with too much ego and power.

"Sure, thanks, man!" I accept with a nod and then refocus back on the class.

'There's something I don't miss about school: the boredom of having a boring class with a teacher that definitely doesn't want to be giving that class,' I think while writing and drawing on my Alchemic Notebook instead of listening to Mr. Steiner draw on Civil War.

'Status!' I call out my system.

Thanks to spending my whole Sunday playing with fire and explosives, I managed to get Roy template to 40%. When I wasn't busy using Alchemy, I was training with my kunai.

Roy is a highly skilled hand-to-hand fighter and firearms user, while I couldn't get access to a gun. I had my kunai; having the skills is one thing, but using them is a whole different beast.

I kept practicing slashes, punches, and kicks, the Mirakuru allowing me to last for a long time before I felt any strain. I left a punch of cut, broken, and burned trees on my wake.

But the greater gain is my alchemy; I, from two days ago, am leagues behind me now.

I can now condense oxygen so tightly in any form that I want and eliminate any explosion, instead just being a continuous blaze of fire that could cut through steel easily. The only downside is that it takes a long time, and I was exhausted after.

DING! DING! DING!

As the alarm rings, I stop my drawing of a few Transmutations Circle designs that I have been tinkering with and shut my notebook close and start to gather my things, the rest of class following as well.

"Let's go, man?" Ethan asks me.

"Yeah," I say, and we make our way into the human river of teenaggers.

'Another thing that I don't miss, especially now.' I cringe as the multitude of sounds and, worst of all, smells assault my senses

Teenagers aren't exactly known for being the most hygienic phases of life.

'At least chemistry was good; there are a lot of good materials to use. I just have to make sure that nobody is looking when I nab them' I think while following Ethan to the cafeteria, he offers to let me sit with him and his friends.

Maria packed me the leftovers of yesterday, and I am really looking forward to it.

Enhanced teenager metabolism running hot on that

We enter the cafeteria, and I analyze the place: several tables are occupied by a sea of students, all talking and eating.

It's a bit disturbing; that's what nobody tells you about having enhanced senses. When things smell good, they smell good, but when they smell bad, they really smell bad!

"Here, man!" Ethan's voice shakes me from my distraction, and he points at a nearby table occupied by both boys and girls, some boys wearing the red jackets and 2 girls wearing cheerleader uniforms. We walk over.

Ethan walks and fist bumps a guy on the left and nods to the blonde on the left, but he is too busy shoving his tongue down on the blonde cheerleader next to him.

"Hey Guys! This is Landon; he is the new guy, and I got classes with him, Landon. This is Stuart, Abby, and Annie, and the two who are too busy sucking each other's faces are Connor and Dana. Ethan does the presentations

"Hi everyone!" I give everyone a hello wave and sit down next to Ethan and put my lunch on the table.

"Hey man! Welcome to Mystic Falls High School, a 3-year consecutive winner of the Mystic Falls Charity Game. Thanks to no small part of the one who speaks, Stuart welcomes me with a showman voice and ends with an exaggerated bow of his head.

Earning a small laugh from the girls and a snort from me and Ethan

"Thanks, happy to be here!" Not really, I return the nod and start to eat my lunch.

"Soo, Landon, do you play anything?" One of the girls—Annie, if I am not mistaken—asks me.

"Well...a bit of everything, I suppose, but more of soccer and basketball," I tell her, not exactly lying but not saying the complete truth. Prior to my transmigration, I used to play a bit when I had the time, and OG me had horrible foster parents, who barely spent anything in food, much less in extracurriculars.

"Any chance you can make a test for the team?" Abby asks me.

"Don't know, but it's possible," I lie to her, as I have better things to do that lose time playing, like getting a reliable source of money.

"Are you dating anyone?" Annie asks me with an interested tone.

Her question stops me mid-chew, almost choking on it

"No-huh! No, I am single," I tell her, which is kind of true.

I was single before my ultimate death, and now on this one...but this world is a dangerous one, full of supernatural creatures that can kill people as easily as breathing.

While having a girlfriend would be nice, not being horribly murdered is more important. Also, I am mentally 23 years old, and dating high school 14-year-olds is sure a straight path to hell or to a lot of teenage melodrama.

After having her curiosity sated, she sits back down, and we descend into small talk.

'Well...all in all it was a good first day; nobody died, and nothing is one fire,' I muse to myself as I finish my lunch.

Three more classes and I can go train.

'I am an idiot...a completely retarded idiot!' I had to fight myself to not bang my head on my desk.

'Roy-My Flame Alchemy is all about atmospheric gas manipulation, focusing more on oxygen as the main oxidizer for deflagration in many manners of use...but that is set in an alternative 1900s world, a bit steampunk thanks to the automails and alchemy, but not here; here the sciences have advanced a shit ton of a lot. An alchemist with current physics and chemistry books could do a lot of damage,' I think while speed-reading the three books in front of me.

Linear Algebra & Differential Equations

Inorganic Chemistry

and especially thermodynamics

'I was too light on my research, going from half-baked searches on the web and Roy Knowldoge and what I could remember from my old life studies. I sucked at math, chemistry, and especially physics, but now...it's fucking easy, especially since it's going to make me stronger,' I think while already taking notes on my Alchemy Notebook for ideas and different things I want to try out soon.

Especially the other kinds of alchemies that happen in the anime and some new modifications to my flame alchemy

'I wonder how to stabilize into a plasma continuous state,' I muse while devouring my books.

"Landon! Perhaps you can answer the class's answer to the problem instead of not paying attention!" Mrs. Kolper interrupts my study session, clearly not happy that I am not paying attention to her very boring class.

"It's -4 m/s², Mrs. Kolper!" I answer after seeing the problem. It's not even a difficult problem, but the fact that she manages to make half of the class bored is the spectacular part of it.

"That's—That's Right!" She recovers fast and returns to assassinate the class interest in physics.

"Psst! Nice man!" Ethan whispered to me while putting his fist out to bump it; he was almost falling asleep, only managing to look attentive enough to not get caught.

I bump it and return to my study session, new ideas to test!

{In Progress:

- [Roy Mustang – 42% → 43%]}

'Yes! Study also helps on the progress, Achemy: the holy mix of all the sciences. I'm going to take a trip to the library after this. I cheer inwards and go back to study even harder, hoping this class ends faster.

I kept forgetting this is a town that very much like its story, even the unpleasant parts of it,' I muse while ignoring the huge amount of books on the history of Mystic Falls.

"Finally! "I say while finding my new favorite section.

Science bitch!

I grab as many books as I can physically lift, which, thanks to my enhancements, is quite a lot.

Flame alchemy can be broken down into three basic components: Heat, Fuel, and Oxidizing

Using a spark of flames, I can erupt a predetermined path of H₂O that I have broken down to hydrogen and a restrictive wall of oxygen, utilizing air pressure to agitate the molecules, allowing me to separate the molecules of H₂O into hydrogen and oxygen, and using the oxygen as my building block and directing the pathways for my flames as well as a secondary fuel.

But instead of focusing on heat, I focus more on the gas pathways using flammable aerosols like hydrocarbons or metallic powder onto my target before ignition; it could theoretically add overpressure and a vacuum, transforming my explosions into thermobaric explosions.

Another thing is that oxygen-fueled fires have temperature limits, but if I use atmosphere-reactive gases such as fluorine, I could create fire that can melt concrete and be almost impossible to put out.

At Ignitian, if I find a way to influx a huge quantity of kinetic energy at the very point of the flame ignition, I could keep the flame in a perpetual energy state of plasma, basicly turning creating a Alchemy form of a lightsaber

'I am going to need to test all of this, but I will need some materials; thermobaric explosion is easier, as I just need to modify my gas pathways and ignition fuel process. The others—I need some stuff... I am also going to need to find an even farther place to test it. 'I start to plan my latest alchemy experiment.

'Wait...I fucking got school tomorrow, FUCK!' I swore and prayed that this week would go out fast.

New chapter, guys! , hope you guys like this chapter; things are starting to get on track. I'm already working on the next chapter, and I promise that is going to be even longer.

Also give me ideas for stuff for the gacha: it can be items, powers, and characters.
