Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Exploring Mystic Falls

Mystic Falls Forest

Landon POV

"Saturday afternoon—before, I'd probably would been sleeping or playing video games. Now, I'm spending it in the middle of a forest, drawing transmutation circles in the dirt!" I think while finishing the new circle I got from Roy's template. Drawing with a stick sucks, and I've already had to redo it three times.

"It's starting to lean more toward gaseous elements," I note, analyzing my previous circles and comparing the differences in their marks and forms. My first transmutation circle, composed of simple straight lines, contained one rectangle, one square, one triangle, and one circle. Each shape represented one of the four base elements: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.

That circle was the most basic design because it placed the four elements in perfect balance—ideal for beginners or simple transmutations.

This new circle, however, emphasizes triangles and rectangles, highlighting Fire and Air.

I suppose this marks the point when Roy officially began his apprenticeship under Hawkeye's father, shifting his approach to alchemy and focusing more on gaseous transmutations. He was still far from becoming the Flame Alchemist, but it was a start.

"Well, let's do this!" I press my hands to the dirt and channel energy into the circle. It glows blue as sparks flicker across its surface

I focus on the molecules of oxygen in the air. I begin to sense them all around me—floating, interacting with everything: the trees, nitrogen molecules, and even me as I feel them with every breath I take.

I shake myself out of my awe and refocus on the transmutation. I begin shifting and manipulating the oxygen, moving it until it condenses in front of me, though I leave a small trail beside me. Pausing the transmutation, I pull out a lighter I took from Maria's kitchen and flick it on.

The effect is instantaneous.

A beam of flames streaks through the air like a blade of fire, transforming into a five-meter fireball as it collides with the condensed cloud of oxygen.

"Well, it works, but it—FUCK!" I think, watching the fireball erupt backward and rush straight toward me.

I leap away, barely avoiding it and feeling the heat scorch my skin as the flames crash into the spot I had just occupied. The ground sizzles, charred from the impact. I get up, brush myself off, and quickly check for injuries.

"Well, if Maria didn't think I was smoking before, she definitely will now!" I mutter. My hair and eyebrows are still intact, though my hoodie is slightly scorched.

Turning back to the smoldering crater where I had stood, I begin analyzing what went wrong. The acrid scent of burnt ozone and lingering carbon monoxide offers a clue.

"When I started gathering oxygen, I left some behind. When I created the spark to ignite it, the fireball backtracked, following the traces of oxygen I had scattered. Because of the vacuum I created for the spark to fly into, the explosion hit me at full force," I theorize, tracing the scorched path from the fireball's origin back to my position.

"Heh! Aside from almost being roasted, it actually worked!" I think, just as my system screen flickers to life before me.

I don't even try to hide my smile at the progress of the Roy Template.

Time to try again—just without getting roasted this time.

I grab my favorite stick and begin drawing once more.

"WOOOOOHOOO!" I scream in delight as I jump a huge divide and land on the other side without even breaking my running

I keep running, the world around me feeling frozen as I speed away. I skidded a few meters before fully stopping.

"Running for half an hour and not even fazed!" I am amazed at my new capabilities. I spot a huge log lying on the ground; it's almost my size.

I grab it with my hands and start to pull up. I struggle a bit but manage to slowly lift it above my head before letting it fall to the ground.

"This must weigh about 150 kg easily. I'm still a 14-year-old, so not even close to my peak, but at least I'll grow up with Mirakuru, so I guess my puberty is going to be a lot different this time around," I say while examining the log on the ground. "And it's time to test something else."

I pull my fist back and punch the log with full force.

Thud!

"Ouch!" I feel a small flare of pain as I punch the log, a bit from the blow and some barbs that got into my hand. I ignore it and look at the fist-sized hole I made in the log—it looks like someone hit it with a sledgehammer. Then I feel my fist stop hurting, and a different sensation takes over.

I look at it and see the small barbs being slowly pushed out as I heal. After a few minutes, every barb comes out, falling to the ground.

"Whoever said that a healing factor is not a good power should go straight to hell!" I say while watching my fist heal before my eyes. If not for the small drops of blood on my hand, I'd say I was never even hurt—not even a scar left behind.

'More than having my Wolverine moment, this is great. I think I've spent too much time here—it's already 3:45 PM, and I have to get back home by 5.' I look at my watch and start to walk toward the main trail in the forest, and after 20 minutes, I finally reach the city again.

'Funny that on the show they could just walk across the street and be in the middle of the forest,' I think while walking around the city, seeing the new place that probably has the highest murder rate in the entire world—maybe just behind New Orleans on that one.

"Local library, a small police station... oh! Mystic Grill and the city square. Very good-looking—a bit of a southern touch to it," I say to myself while walking through the square before sitting on a free bench, relaxing against it.

'Almost 40% of Roy Mustang template unlocked, almost 7% unlocked from start to use more flameable alchemy, if I take Roy backstory as a guide, I will soon need to use my alchemy more on combat, I don't remember when but Roy fought on the Ishval Civil War and if to unlock more I will need to follow Roy footsteps, I just hope that is not gonna take a almost erradication of a race of people to unlock more' The Ishval War gave everyone involved PTSD on the most grave level and I would like to avoid that

"All in all, it looks like a normal city, a normal city that is full of supernatural creatures and the city with more people disappearing on suspicious circumstances than Detroit." I smirk at the amount of bullshit that happened in this city and that will happen.

I get up and do a slow stretch before finally starting to make my way through the streets of Mystic Falls. Hector and Maria's house is very close to the city square; a few minutes walking, and I find myself back at their house with Maria watering some plants on the outside.

"Hi Landon! How was you walk? " Maria ask me with a smile on her face

"It was good! I saw the city square, library, and that dinner you told me about." I tell her while keeping the part where I was in the forest playing with explosive fires and tarzaning on it.

She doesn't need to know that part.

"That's good, honey! Hector has gone to the market to buy some groceries and will be back in a few hours!" She tells me while watering her plants.

"Do you need any help?" I ask her, seeing some sacks of fertilizer close to her

"No need, Landon; the sacks are a bit heavy, and I will wait until Hector is back to—Oh!" She says before I gasp a little when I swing the sack over my shoulder.

'30 kg, huh! "Feels lighter," I say while testing my strength a bit.

"Where do you want it?" I ask, snapping Maria out of her shock, and she directs me to the plants she wants fertilized. While it's a surprise, it isn't something that big of a deal. Now, if I lifted the hood of the car, that would be more of a strange ordeal.

After helping Maria, I got to my room. While Maria wasn't looking, I grabbed a handful of fertilizer.

Fertilizer is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, very useful in various areas, but the most important to me is explosives. I grabbed a small Tupperware from the kitchen earlier, stored the fertilizer inside, and put it in my inventory.

'Gonna test tomorrow, going to go deeper this time to not draw attention. I feel that the spot that I used today is already compromised,' I think, as the small smoking crater that I left might have attracted some rangers to it or worse. If I go by the show, it's easier to bump into vampires than people.

I took a bath, and after cleaning myself from my impromptu Deidara experience, I lay down on my bed.

Gwent Deck (The Witcher) ×1

Muzan's Hat (Demon Slayer) ×1

Batarang (DC Prime Earth) ×1

Blue Sky Meth Bag (Breaking Bad) ×1

Fake ID (Gacha System) ×1}

I with a twist of my fingers two cards appear on my hands, one bronze and the other silver

the bronze one become a small packet tied in tempered leather, similar to card case, the silver one become a normal ID on my right hand

I look at the ID info

Virginia Driver's License

Custom Number: T234947

Name: Michael Ambrosius

Address: 1322 AV-142, Mystic Falls

Sex: M

Date of Birth: 01/07/2007

Height: 5.5

Date of Experiation: ∞

"Nice! With this ID I can pass as a seventeen-year-old when needed and next year an eighteen-year-old; still weird that I was born in 2010 and that we are in 2024. Going from Gen Z straight to Gen Alpha is so fucking weird, but at least the internet is better," I say while putting my new and very useful fake ID in my inventory and then look at my Gwent deck.

I, like almost every gamer with even two brain cells, had heard of and even played The Witcher 3 but never played Gwent on it. I prefer the monster-slaying part of the game to the magical Yu-Gi-Oh! of the verse, but at least I know how the game works

I open the leather case and take out the cards and start to counting them, 62 cards, allowing fo two people to play with some left for 'Buying' when needed on the match, reading the cards I came across several monster that II saw on the games, guards, dwarfs and other magical races, but one in specific catch my eyes

A man of white hair and golden cat eyes, wearing the coolest but unfortunately weak armor from the game, with a silver sword in his hands while another rests on his back.

Geralt of Rivia

Power: 15

"Woah! Not bad! "Going to find someone to play this someday," I ponder to myself before putting it in my inventory and taking out my cell phone and starting to browse the internet, mainly looking at this world story.

For a world full of monsters and magic, it looks exactly like my old life, with no new historic figure or any war that looks suspicious.

Guess even alternate universes follow the same script.

I spend some time researching both history and chemistry elements. I hear Hector's car pull in on the driveway; after a few minutes, I hear Maria's footsteps approaching my room.

Knock! Knock!

"Landon, dinner is ready; come eat!" She said happily from behind the door.

"Coming!" I say back and jump out of my bed, already smelling the delicious food that Maria prepared

'One more day of freedom before I have to go back to Hell; I'm going to try to raise Roy's template to at least 40% before that.'
