Halfway up the road, Kai turned into a small roadside diner, its glowing red sign declaring Best Burgers in Town. The smell of grilled beef drifted through the open windows, making Hana's stomach growl.
Kai caught it instantly. "Hungry already?"
She flushed. "Just a little."
"Perfect."
Minutes later, he returned with a paper bag and two sodas. "Not fine dining," he said, sliding it into the backseat. "But the view later will make up for it."
"Can I eat it when we get there?" she asked hopefully.
"Of course." His lips tugged. "Want me to open the roof?"
Her eyes lit up. "Yes."
With a smooth press of a button, the roof folded back. Night air swept in as they climbed higher, the city sprawling below like a sea of stars.
Hana leaned against the door, eyes wide. "It's beautiful…" she whispered.
Kai glanced sideways, lips curving. "Wait until we reach the top."
