Chapter 20 - Rage of Zhang Lei

Meanwhile, Chen Xuan sat relaxing in the open area, around himself with Fenrir below, happily devouring the massive bear.

It had been a short while since the bear had been killed and Chen Xuan finally got the notification he was waiting for.

Required Energy reached - Upgrade Available.

Life energy: 35 / 35 (100%)(Upgrade?)

With a calm attitude, Chen Xuan pressed the upgrade button, already used to his breakthroughs and subsequent upgrades.

Once again, warm energy spread throughout Chen Xuans body, starting from the center of his trunk, just near the roots before spreading throughout his body.

Each root recieving equal energy as his trunk and soon after, branches recieved the warm energy.

The energy this time caused Chen Xuan to grow at a quick speed visible to the naked eye. If one were to look on from the side, they would see a sight that looked like a time-lapse video.

This upgrade period, lasted a couple of minutes, lasting approximately 5 Minute, give or take a minute. Throughout these minutes, Chen Xuan basked in the feeling of his growth. Both feeling and seeing himself growing in sight was amazing, despite the discomfort and dull pain from the stretching.

After the time, Chen Xuan felt far larger, just like how someone feels more confident when puffing out their chest.

Turning his focus to the system panel, Chen Xuan was shocked. He had already expected a large increase just from his vision, but he never expected such a large increase as it was only a small breakthrough.

Trunk Diameter: 1.33cm

Life Energy Capacity: 79

- Blossom Crest - Level 1

Such a height wasn't too conspicuous in the large forest; however, this doesn't take into account the fact that Chen Xuan had only been a sapling a few weeks ago.

Taking this into account, Chen Xuan's growth could be seen as extremely monstrous; originally, it would have taken Chen Xuan dozens of years to grow to this point without the panel and his breakthroughs.

With his new breakthrough, Chen Xuan stretched widely, his branches making small popping sounds.

These sounds and actions of Chen Xuan startled Fenrir slightly, causing him to look up at Chen Xuan with slight worry.

After a few moments of seeing Chen Xuan not moving, Fenrir went back to lying down on the ground, resting with his belly full.

"It's damn lucky that I'm in the middle of nowhere," Chen Xuan muttered as he thought of his growth.

At the same time, Chen Xuan absentmindedly allotted his points to roots, crown, and flowers equally, already used to this as he currently had no need for anything else.

After assigning his points, Chen Xuan chose to just bask in the warmth of the energy that coursed through his body.

As the energy slowly dissipated after a couple of minutes, Chen Xuan felt the increase that compounded onto his current strength, giving him an immense feeling of satisfaction.

Later that day, Fenrir went out to hunt, not for food, but to work off some of the energy gained from the bear.

As the bear was far higher level than Fenrir, he felt a boundless energy in him, which caused him to run around energetically.

Of course, Chen Xuan didn't mind; as a matter of fact, Chen Xuan liked it when Fenrir was energetic and ran around.

Without Fenrir running around, Chen Xuan's days were dull, having nothing much to do other than enjoy the scenery or sunlight.

"Wish I was reincarnated as something that moves at least... but hey, can't be too picky. Not many people get another life," Chen Xuan muttered as he used his senses to watch Fenrir. This was mostly the only entertainment in his life.

This was why Chen Xuan loved it when Fenrir was lively, because when he was, he finally got some entertainment.

Although Chen Xuan didn't love seeing creatures die, he had mostly gotten used to it. He still didn't love it but it was better than anything else he could be doing.

As Chen Xuan watched fenrir moving, back in Chengdu, it was late in the night, the night air was warm and dense clouds covered the sky. The stars hidden behind the dense clouds.

However, the warm night air was nothing compared to the rage felt by Zhang Lei. At the Chengdu mountain research and development center.

"The hell?! What the hell is wrong with those damn mountains?!"

Zhang Lei yelled as he barged into the the head office, startling the leader, Ming Xuan.

"What the hell are you talking about brother Zhang?"

Ming Xuan asked while frowning and crossing his arms as he leaned back in his chair.

Clearly not startled nor impressed, Zhang Lei stormed up to Ming Xuans desk, slamming his hands down.

"Those damn things in that damn mountain! They're damn well ferocious! They didn't run even when shot at!"

He yelled still, surprising Ming Xuan, who had never expected his usually calm collegue to be so angry this time.

"Hey, calm down brother Zhang and tell me what you're talking about. Otherwise, this conversation will go nowhere."

He said plainly as he leaned back in his chair and ran his hand through his jet balck hair.

Taking a deep breath, Zhang Lei stood up as he pinched the bridge of his brow, trying to calm down despite his boiling anger. After a few moments, Zhang Lei looked back down to Ming Xuan, gruffly saying with his voice betraying his anger.

"The damn trip to the mountains lost me two of my men to wolves. We shot at them but they didn't act normal, they kept coming" his voice getting more and more angry despite his holding back.

"You'd better compensate the families of the dead dammit"

Such a statement surprised Ming Xuan. Zhang Lei's team had quite a good reputation as they were all ex military and so were well trained, so it was a shock shock hear that some of his men died.

Is face turned serious as he pointed opposite to himself, gesturing for Zhang Lei to sit down.
