Afternoon break.
Haejin finds Soorin in the makeup room.
She's organizing brushes with the intensity of someone defusing a bomb.
It's just them. Everyone else is at lunch.
"Hey," he says from the doorway.
She looks up. Tension radiates from her even with the mask.
"Hey."
"You okay?"
"Fine."
"Soorin."
She sets down the brush. "I'm fine. Really. She's beautiful and famous and clearly interested, but I'm totally fine."
"You're not fine."
"Okay, I'm not fine. But I'm trying to be fine. That should count for something, right?"
He crosses the room. Checks the door. Fully closed.
Pulls down her mask.
"She doesn't matter. You know that?"
"She's going to be here for five days. Trying to get your attention. Creating moments. And I have to watch while pretending I'm just staff."
"I know. I'm sorry. But nothing she does changes anything. Last night wasn't fake. This morning's complications don't erase last night's promises."
Soorin wants to believe him.
