Chapter 13: Goten's Training!
Inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
Goten closed his eyes and meditated silently, while sparks of electricity flickered around him from time to time.
On the side, Trunks in his Super Saiyan 2 form was watching Goten with admiring eyes.
"Goten, keep going... all you need to do is increase your anger even more!"
Trunks shouted.
Goten meditated and recalled the face of his mother, the face of his older brother Gohan,
and the face of his father, Goku.
He felt as if he were in a dream—or rather, a nightmare.
Before his eyes appeared a monstrous being with no defined shape.
He entered his home and found his mother Chi-Chi happily cooking lunch.
The very next second, the monster killed her.
Gohan and Goku came seeking revenge, but they were killed as well.
Seeing Goten, who now had an angry expression on his face while asleep, Trunks was astonished.
He's doing it. He might really break through to Super Saiyan 2 today.
Trunks and Goten had been training for about three months inside the Time Chamber.
Every day, Trunks fought Goten in his Super Saiyan 2 form,
trying to push Goten into evolving into Super Saiyan 2—
just like the Saiyans of Universe 6 in Dragon Ball Super.

In Goten's nightmare, things grew darker.
He saw himself and Trunks fighting the monster that had wiped out everyone on Earth.
The monster looked at Goten and lunged at him. Goten tried to move, but for some reason, he couldn't.
The next moment,
all he saw was blood splattering into the air and Trunks's body covered in horrific wounds.
Trunks had died for him.
"No... no... nooo!"
Goten couldn't believe what had happened.
Without meaning to, he forgot that he was only trying to imagine something to fuel his anger and trigger Super Saiyan 2.
"Trunks... nooooooo!"
With a furious scream, Goten's body erupted with astonishing energy. His power multiplied countless times.
Before the stunned eyes of Trunks, Goten had become a Super Saiyan 2, his blazing golden aura crackling with electricity.
"He really transformed into Super Saiyan 2..."
Even though he achieved it with surprising ease, Trunks was still shocked.
He had relied on the system, but Goten had relied purely on his talent.
"Goten, you're incredible... your strength might now rival Gohan-san's Super Saiyan 2."
Trunks looked at Goten, feeling a twinge of guilt as he noticed tears falling from Goten's eyes.
But Goten's face softened with relief as he saw Trunks alive,
regaining consciousness and remembering it had all been just an illusion.
"Hehehe..."
Goten chuckled after returning to his normal state and wiping away his tears.
"You're exaggerating, Trunks... you've already mastered Super Saiyan 4."
Goten said as he approached Trunks, who had also returned to his normal state.
"I can't tell him that the system had already given me mastery over Super Saiyan 4...
all I needed to do was train in that form for a while.
And since I have infinite Android energy... it was easy."
Trunks smiled to himself at the thought and bumped his fist against Goten's.
Goten grinned, returning the gesture as a sign of victory.
"We still have about nine months left in the Time Chamber... let's spend it training and refining your Super Saiyan 2."
"Yeah... let's work hard so we can amaze my father when we bring him back to life."
The two smiled, ready to continue their training, their burning desire for strength shining in their eyes.

Piccolo and Dende waited silently in front of the chamber's door, anticipating Trunks and Goten's return.
Part of their concern was that the boys might lose track of time and fail to leave the chamber before the limit.
The Hyperbolic Time Chamber only allowed two years per person,
and Trunks had already spent one year inside.
If he didn't come out in time, the chamber's door would seal him inside forever.

Goten and Trunks stepped out.
Both of them looked older.
Their muscles were larger and stronger.
On top of that, neither Dende nor Piccolo could sense any ki from them at all.

"Yes, Piccolo-san."
Goten answered with his usual bright smile.
Meanwhile, Trunks asked Dende if there was any way to extend the time allowed inside the chamber.
"That's impossible, Trunks-kun... besides, weren't you planning to search for the Dragon Balls to bring Goku-san back?"
"Oh, right... I almost forgot."
Reminded by Dende, Trunks grabbed Goten's hand, pulling him away from his conversation with Piccolo.
"See you later..."
"Oi, Trunks... where are we going? We don't even know where the Dragon Balls are."
"Goten, you fool... my mom Bulma invented the Dragon Radar a long time ago.
It shows us the exact location of the Dragon Balls."
"Oh, right... I didn't think of that."
Goten grinned foolishly as always, and the two increased their speed, heading toward the Brief family mansion.

"I'm sorry, Dad... Goten and I went to visit Goku-san to try to convince him to return to life.
After I challenged him to a fight, I managed to win... and he agreed to come back."
Hearing this, Vegeta was stunned.
Had Kakarot grown weak? Or had his son become unstoppable at such a young age?
"After returning to Earth, we went to the Lookout and entered the Time Chamber.
Inside, Goten reached Super Saiyan 2 and mastered control over his power completely."
Vegeta was shocked.
He had believed his son Trunks was a prodigy—like himself—and that's why he had reached Super Saiyan 2 at such a young age.
But now, before him stood Goten, Kakarot's son, who had also mastered Super Saiyan 2.
