Chapter 54 - CHAPTER 54

The next morning broke quiet. The company building was still half asleep, lights humming, halls empty. The members arrived one by one for a scheduled meeting that had been set long before the live stream exploded online.

Taehyung and Jungkook came in together, not hiding it but not announcing it either. They walked close, keeping their hands to themselves, sharing glances that the rest of the group had learned to read.

Jimin noticed first. "You two look guilty."

Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "For what."

"Existing." Jimin sipped his iced drink. "That live was everywhere. Every edit. Every page."

Yoongi sank into the couch, hoodie pulled low. "They slowed down every second you leaned in. They analyzed your breathing."

Taehyung smiled without shame. "They are observant."

Namjoon stepped out of the conference room with Jin behind him. "Good. Everyone is here. Let's start."

Inside the room, the manager clicked the remote. The screen lit up with headlines, screenshots, and fan theories. Nothing hateful. Nothing damaging. But the energy was intense.

Jin adjusted his glasses. "It is not dangerous. But it is loud. Louder than usual."

Namjoon pointed at a viral clip of Taehyung laughing at Jungkook's whisper. "This one reached two million views overnight."

Jungkook stared at the screen. "It was nothing."

Jimin snorted. "It looked like something."

Yoongi didn't look up. "It always looks like something."

Taehyung folded his arms. "What are we deciding today."

The manager cleared his throat. "You do not need to deny anything. You do not need to confirm anything. Keep things balanced, keep distance when the cameras are too close."

A pause.

"But do not change your entire dynamic. That would look worse."

Jin leaned back. "In other words, act normal but smarter."

Taehyung looked at Jungkook. Jungkook looked down at the table. The message was simple. Be yourselves, but understand every tiny touch will explode in the world outside.

The meeting ended. The tension didn't.

They went to the practice room next. The mirrors reflected seven tired faces, everyone stretching, fixing hair, rolling shoulders. The playlist started low.

Taehyung and Jungkook stayed on opposite sides at first. Not far. Not near. Testing the new rules. Jungkook focused on footwork. Taehyung adjusted his sleeves. They caught each other's reflection more than once.

Jimin stepped between them. "Stop staring through the mirror. It is obvious."

Jungkook blinked. "I am not staring."

"You are." Yoongi tossed him a towel without looking. "Badly."

Namjoon clapped his hands. "Focus. We rehearse first. Talk later."

Practice started. Sweaty. Synchronized. Familiar. The energy of the group tightened the scattered mood. Every formation shift brought someone closer. Every break pushed someone farther.

During water break, Taehyung sat against the wall breathing hard. Jungkook dropped down beside him. Not too close. Close enough.

"You want to talk about last night." Jungkook asked quietly.

Taehyung shook his head. "Not yet. I want to enjoy the feeling."

"What feeling."

Taehyung looked at him with a slow, almost dangerous calm. "The part where everyone knows we care about each other more than they expected."

Jungkook drew in a breath. "That is risky."

"But true."

Before Jungkook could respond, Jin called them. "Come on. Break is done."

They stood. Their shoulders brushed. It was small, but enough to send a spark into the air that everyone felt even if they didn't look directly at it.

After practice, the group walked out together. Cameras flashed outside. Reporters stood waiting. Questions flew sharp and loud.

"Is the livestream hinting at something?"

"Are Taehyung and Jungkook closer these days?"

"Does the group have anything to clarify?"

Namjoon stepped forward without hesitation. "We are focusing on our music right now. That is all."

Taehyung and Jungkook kept their faces calm. No smiles. No reactions. Only steady steps toward the van.

Inside the van, the doors closed. Silence filled the space.

Then Jimin broke it. "You two are done pretending. It is written all over your faces."

Yoongi nodded in agreement. "The next stage begins."

Jin crossed his arms. "And we watch the world try to figure it out."

Jungkook leaned his head back, exhaling slowly as Taehyung glanced at him from the other seat. Hidden tension. Growing truth. Rising heat beneath calm expressions.

Nothing was confirmed.

Nothing was denied.

But the foundation shifted again.
