Author's POV
Athènia managed to stand, even though all her allies were on the ground. Im laughed like a madman.
Im: Even when facing death, you're still this determined.
Athènia readied herself to attack.
Athènia: I was born with this mindset.
She charged straight ahead, as one would say, into the wolf’s den. Im seemed to enjoy playing with this little girl he knew was nowhere near his strength.
Athènia struck with a kick, but Im caught her foot with his hand.
Im: Nice try.
Athènia: That wasn't the main point.
She pretended to fall, planting her hand on the ground for support before swinging her other leg and landing a solid kick to Im's face. He staggered back in pain and instantly released her foot.
Im: You filthy brat!
Athènia stood back up with a grin.
Athènia: Ouch, sorry, I hope I didn't hurt you too badly, Im.
She taunted, mocking him. Even though she knew she would never win, she still enjoyed irritating him.
Im: I'll make you regret the day you were born, brat!
Athènia: Oh, I've already been regretting that for a long time.
Im's fangs extended, and from his hand, an actual sword emerged. Since when could swords appear out of one's hand?
Im: Say your prayers.
Athènia: No need to remind me, I always pray before sleeping.
She mocked him again. Im dashed toward her with lightning speed. Had she not reacted in time, the blade would have pierced her heart. She moved aside to avoid it, but Im's reflexes were insane. He hadn't even fully passed her before spinning around to slash again. Athènia ducked low and kicked his knee. He almost lost balance but quickly recovered. His sword slashed again and again at unbelievable speed, but Athènia narrowly dodged each strike.
She grabbed Tevi's sword in the midst of avoiding another strike. Im, thinking this was his chance, swung at her, but she blocked his attack with the blade.
Athènia: Wow. For someone who claims to be the most powerful, you can't even kill one powerless girl.
She mocked sarcastically, and her words hit Im harder than a slap.
Im: Your arrogance will be your downfall.
Athènia: My downfall isn’t written in destiny, Im.
Im smirked cunningly, unsettling her confidence.
Im: That's what you think, Athènia.
Before she could react, Im slashed across her stomach. She screamed in pain and collapsed beside Tevi, who had managed to stand again.
Tevi: Don't touch the princess!!
Im: Oh, another hero here to save the princess from death.
Tevi: Even if it costs me my life, you won't harm her.
Im: We'll see. Wouldn't you rather join my army?
Tevi raised his sword and infused it with a spell powerful enough to kill, though he only held onto a sliver of hope it might work.
Im: You still have time to reconsider.
Tevi lunged at him, but Im blocked his strike with his own blade. The fight turned into a sword duel. Im swung for Tevi's throat, but Tevi leaned back in time. In a flash, Im twisted his sword and drove it into Tevi's stomach.
Athènia: Tevi!!
Tevi screamed in pain and kicked Im away, creating some distance.
Im: Time's up.
Tevi: No. I will never betray the chosen one the future Supreme.
Tevi fell to his knees, looking as miserable as Athènia had once envisioned.
Athènia: Tevi..
Tevi realized the truth. The Supreme had been right, Im wasn't just a hybrid, he was a di-hybrid. Im's sword carried the same spell he had cast, only much stronger. This was truly the end.
Im: I'll ask you again will you join my army?
Tevi: Never.
Im: Pathetic. So loyal to someone you barely know.
Tevi: You're wrong. I know the Chosen One very well. She is a woman determined to do anything to save us all.
Im: And yet, she won't save you.
Tevi: I know. It's my destiny to die for her awakening. It's my destiny to die, and I accept it willingly.
Im looked at him darkly, his eyes gleaming with danger.
Im: Then I'll give you five minutes to reconsider.
He glanced at his watch as Athènia struggled to sit up.
Athènia: Tevi..
Tevi: My decision has been clear from the start.
Im: So, Tevi, have you decided?
Tevi: I am nothing more than a tool to forge the Supreme into a true fighter. I always knew I would die one way or another.
Kemran and Naynah had regained consciousness by now, only to witness this disaster. They had both been knocked out by Im earlier.
Im: And so you'll die for this woman?
Tevi: She's not just a woman she is the future of the entire hybrid race. She's the Chosen One we've awaited for centuries. My duty is now fulfilled. It's time for another to guide the Supreme.
Im: Tevi, stop dreaming. I'll kill this Chosen One myself.
Tevi: She was born to win.
Im: And I was born to destroy her. Don't worry your death won't be as painful as hers.
Im drove his sword straight through Tevi's heart. But instead of despair, Tevi smiled. A radiant light surrounded him as he collapsed to the ground, still smiling.
Athènia: TEEEEVIIIII!!!!
