Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

POV Kemran

After finishing the first classes, we headed to the cafeteria. The place was crowded with all sorts of beings. In my class, I'd only just discovered there were seventeen werewolves, two sorcerers , one siren, and six vampires—including me, of course. I'd better be careful with how I move around here.

I was eating again when I heard that voice say mate. I expected it to be the same girl from earlier, but I was wrong. It was the gorgeous girl from last night—damn, she's even more beautiful than I remembered. Her friend called her back to reality, and when she turned to her friend, I realized she was quite pretty too. I would've gladly had her in my bed as well—if she wasn't a witch, and especially a princess. I really didn't expect girls like this to be so stunning.

Then the headmaster announced some kind of meeting or whatever, and that we could go home. I watched the princess rise with her friend, who wasn't bad either, though not nearly as beautiful as her. Gahh, what the hell is wrong with me?

I noticed Evera and that Alpha glaring at the princess with pure hatred. Whatever. Not my problem. I signaled Evera to come over. She beamed at me, clinging to my arm, which made the Alpha growl softly. Oh, how cute. Damn it, what the hell is wrong with me again? I didn't care. I wrapped my arm around Evera as we walked right past the Alpha. I was definitely going to screw this girl. That way, it'd hurt the Alpha—because as people say, a wolf can feel the pain of betrayal, especially when their mate sleeps with someone else.

"Baby, where are we going?" she asked.

"I'm going somewhere. You're going home," I replied.

"But baby, I thought we were—"

"We are, but tonight. Meet me at my apartment at 7 p.m."

"Okay, baby," she said with a smile.

You might say what I'm doing is wrong. But the pain I'm about to cause will just be the beginning. Evera kissed me passionately, just the way I liked it.

"See you tonight then," she said, strutting off like some kind of star.

Meanwhile, I decided to follow the princess's movements. After leaving the university, she and her friend entered a car dealership. To do what? Buy a car, I guess. A few minutes later, they left in a black SUV with tinted windows. Then they stopped at a motel. Seriously? A princess staying in a place like that? Damn, her father must really be neglecting her.

About an hour later, they came out carrying a suitcase and a bag, got back into the car, and drove to the same hotel where I was staying. They took the elevator, while I ran up the stairs. Vampire speed is useful—I got there at the same time. They stepped out and headed for the middle apartment. Neighbors, huh? I crept closer, pressing my ear to the door, trying to hear them. Two hours later, nothing. I finally gave up and returned to my apartment.

As I closed my door, I noticed the elevator opening again. And guess who stepped out? Exactly—the Alpha. She had shopping bags in her hands. She sniffed the air, sighed, and realized I was there too. She struggled a bit with the door but finally got it open and slipped inside.

I shut my door for real this time, stripped off my shirt and pants, threw on some shorts, and flopped in front of the TV. I still didn't understand how I'd been able to hear the wolf earlier, and what confused me even more was why the princess seemed to have another voice. Normally, witches don't hear voices. Wolves do. Maybe witch-born women have some kind of small inner voice to help them defend themselves?

Hours later, there was a knock at my door. I turned off the TV, leaving my place in total darkness, and checked who it was. Vera. In a short, revealing dress. She gave me a seductive smile when she saw me shirtless.

"Well, looks like you're already ready," she said in a sultry voice.

Without wasting time, I pulled her inside, slammed the door shut, pinned her hard against it, and kissed her roughly. I ripped her dress without hesitation, leaving her in nothing but lingerie. Lifting her up, I carried her toward the bed without breaking the kiss. We crashed onto it.

When I'd said I was going to f*** her, I meant it. In the total darkness, only her moans and the creaking of the bed filled the room. It was going to be a long night.

POV Naynah

I was furious when I entered my apartment with the groceries. I dumped them onto the table.

" Naynah, calm down. Getting angry will only make things worse." said Ava

I inhaled, exhaled, trying to calm myself. Still, so many questions were swirling inside me. Why did my rage spike when I saw that idiot looking at the one I'm supposed to kill? And why did I feel the urge to rip off the head of that girl clinging to him?

" Because you're jealous." said Ava with humor

" Me? Jealous? No. It's just this damn mate bond. That's all. I don't feel anything for that vampire—even if he is insanely hot." I replied

"…Okay, I didn't say anything." said Ava

Ugh. Why did I just admit he was insanely hot? Damn it. I came here to kill, not to get familiar with enemies. And come to think of it, I haven't had any more dreams about alliances or Harmony and the Vampires.

" I wonder where she really is now?" said Ava

" She can stay wherever she is. I don't care. At least I'll have fewer sleepless nights." I said

" And what if she was right?" said Ava

" Don't think about that now." I said

I started putting the groceries away when suddenly a paralyzing pain shot through my lower stomach. What the hell now? Ava groaned in pain too.

" The mate… he's sleeping with another." said Ava

No. No, this had to be a nightmare. I didn't want a mate for this very reason, and now today—on the very day I discover him—he's already screwing someone else? This is bad. Really, really bad.

" Hold on, Naynah." said Ava

" I… it hurts, Ava." I said

This didn't make sense. I wasn't supposed to feel the pain unless we were marked.

" Hold on, Nayn. We're strong." said Ava

The pain slowly eased, just enough for me to catch my breath.

" Nayn…" said Ava

" I'll stay under the shower. Maybe it'll help with the pain." I said

"I think that'll work." replied Ava

Dragging myself into the bathroom, I collapsed under the running water. The pain came back, sharp and unbearable.

" Ahhh, hold on, Nayn." said Ava

This night was going to be pure hell.

POV Athènia

As my soul drifted, I felt renewed. Then suddenly, I was back in the same place as before—the same white dress, the same marvelous garden. I saw the familiar woman on the swing.

"Excuse me…" I began.

The woman looked at me.

"I see you've found your most important ally," she said.

But it wasn't her speaking. It was another. A woman a thousand times more beautiful than anyone else I'd ever seen. That's when I realized—it was the Moon Goddess herself.

"Moon Goddess," I whispered.

"Yes, my child. It's me," she said.

"Why bring me here, to London?" I asked.

"Because here you will discover who you truly are. Your duty is to uncover the past and bring peace between the three most powerful races."

"And what about hybrids like me?"

"You'll find out with time, my dear. Remember—your role is to lead the supernatural world toward peace. You are the weapon of peace itself. You are far stronger than you imagine, Athènia. Much more."

"Okay, I get it… but why pair me with a vampire?"

"My dear, everything happens for a reason. I have my reasons for binding you two together. I don't write destiny, but I give everyone the partner they deserve. My time is up. Until next time, Athénia."

The vision ended, my soul rushing back into my body. Mara was staring at me, still confused. But I sensed it wasn't my words that troubled her—it was something else.

"What? What is it?" I asked.

"You were unconscious for thirty minutes," Mara said.

"Thirty? But with the Goddess it only felt like seconds." I said

She raised an eyebrow at me.

"I felt like my soul left my body," I explained. "I was in that same garden where I always saw the woman who kept talking about alliances in my visions."

"You have visions?!" Mara exclaimed.

"Yes… and I don't know why. But this time it wasn't that woman—it was the Moon Goddess herself. She told me things like, 'You are the weapon of peace in the supernatural world. You must uncover the past. You're more powerful than you realize.'"

"So if I understand right," Mara said slowly, "you have visions, you've met a woman who always talks about alliances, and now the Goddess told you you're some kind of phenomenal power."

"Yeah. (…) By the way, do you have a wolf yet?"

"Yeah, she came during my birthday. I'm seventeen now," she replied.

"Good… do you know—ahhh…"

Suddenly, pain ripped through my lower stomach. It hurt. Kora whimpered in my head.

Kora, what's happening?

"Ahhh… it's the mate. He's with another woman." said Kora

Mara shook me gently.

"Lis, are you okay? What's wrong? Are you in pain?" asked Mara

"It's… it's my… my mate. He… he's sleeping with someone else," I gasped.

"But that's impossible! You're not even marked yet!"

The pain only grew sharper, ripping screams from my throat.

" Don't give up, Lis. We're strong. We're the strongest." said Kora

Her voice gave me strength, and slowly the pain lessened.

"You okay?" Mara asked.

"I'll be fine. Mara, can you help me to my room?"

"Of course."

She supported me, guiding me carefully to my bedroom, and laid me gently on the bed.

"Do you need anything else?" she asked.

"I'll be fine. I think they've stopped. You should get some rest—we have class tomorrow."

"Alright. Call me if it gets bad again."

"Okay. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Lis," she said before closing the door.

I grabbed the remote and activated the soundproofing so Mara wouldn't hear me scream. The pain came back, just as I'd expected. I couldn't believe it. I'd been so eager to find the one destined for me, and now he was tearing me apart. The pain only grew sharper, dragging me into darkness.

That night was going to be pure hell.
