Luo Fan felt a peculiar comfort upon entering the Primordial Universe.
The vast black city before him radiated an ancient and weighty aura.
Just then, a streak of light flew in from afar.
Looking closely, it was a black-robed man whose head was covered in bluish-green scales.
"Everyone, I am the reception envoy of Chaos City," the man said in a deep voice, smiling as he spoke.
"This city is called Chaos City. It has existed longer than most cosmic nations you come from."
"At present, Chaos City is jointly managed by the Virtual Universe Company, the Giant Axe Battle Arena, the First Bank of the Universe, the Universe Galaxy Bank, and the Universe Mercenary Alliance."
These five forces were the most powerful within the Human Race.
They decided all major and minor affairs of humanity.
Virtually all great existences of the Human Race were high-ranking members of these factions.
"Follow me."
The envoy smiled and descended.
A thousand people followed him down from the sky, landing on the streets of Chaos City.
"Chaos City has existed for countless eras," the envoy said as he walked at the front, explaining along the way.
"Many supreme existences were born here after coming to Chaos City to comprehend the origin laws."
Luo Fan glanced around.
Buildings of various styles lined the streets, and occasionally he saw figures sitting on rooftops, engraving strange symbols.
Not only that, powerful beings could faintly be seen standing high in the air above the city.
These strong beings also noticed Luo Fan's group.
"Hmm? What's with these little ones?"
"That's Reception Envoy Number Eleven. Looks like a batch of youths from the Virtual Universe Company has arrived."
"These are the victors of this Universe Genius Battle. I heard there are some promising seedlings among them."
"I've heard that too. One of them is called Luo Fan, right? And another, Bolan, as well as Luo Feng."
"I'm telling you, forget about Luo Fan. He's the disciple of that old fellow, Xi Blade." (TL/N: Xi blade is Tideblade King)
"Then what about Bolan? I've heard he's not bad either."
Along the edges of the cosmic rifts above, several mighty beings chatted idly.
...
Though Chaos City held many strong presences, Luo Fan only sensed about a dozen truly overwhelming auras.
Many powerful Immortal beings dared not release their energy, carefully keeping it suppressed.
Only a dozen or so let their auras flow freely. Each one radiated like a ferocious beast, oppressive, fierce, and awe-inspiring.
"In Chaos City, there are many supreme existences," the envoy warned.
"Never disturb them while they are comprehending the origin laws."
"If you disturb any of them, we will have no choice but to send you out of the Primordial Universe, ending your opportunity for comprehension."
Everyone quickly nodded.
The envoy then led them into a nearby unoccupied building.
"In Chaos City, many of the small buildings with pale-white doors are unowned," he explained, pointing at one of the doors.
"If you place your hand on the door for a few moments, the sensing system will activate."
"The door will then turn dark gray, signifying that you've become the owner of this residence, and your information will be automatically recorded."
"Each of you can only choose one dwelling."
Then, the envoy looked toward the rooftop.
The platform was vast, nearly a hundred meters in both length and width, large enough to hold all one thousand of them.
Luo Fan followed his gaze.
He noticed that the rooftop was covered with mysterious engravings and patterns.
When his eyes fell upon one specific carving, he suddenly felt something stir within.
Inside his world ring, the space-worm clone instantly began comprehending the origin laws of space.
The other geniuses gasped in amazement.
Each of them was a rare prodigy, one in a hundred million, even one in a trillion.
Thus, many also noticed the significance of the engravings.
Several directly entered a state of comprehension on the spot.
"Everyone," the envoy's voice suddenly echoed in each person's mind, jolting their souls back to awareness.
"Over countless generations, countless mighty beings have sat upon these rooftops, comprehending and engraving as they meditated."
"As a result, many carvings containing their thoughts on the origin laws remain behind."
"If you're interested, most of the residences in Chaos City are still unoccupied. You may explore and study them one by one."
"Some engravings may even be left by Venerables themselves."
"And remember this, fighting is strictly forbidden in Chaos City!"
"Even a Universe Country Lord is not exempt!"
"You will stay here for over a hundred years."
"The time ratio between the Primordial Universe and the Original Universe is 1 to 3.28."
"In other words, your stay in Chaos City will last just over thirty years."
"So you will have plenty of time to comprehend. For now, follow me."
Soon, the envoy led the group to the City Lord's Mansion.
...
Deep within the City Lord's Mansion lay an independent space.
This world was an endless land, its surface covered with countless corpses. Each corpse emitted an overwhelming aura.
Some of those auras far surpassed even the strongest presences Luo Fan had sensed in Chaos City.
At this moment, a burly man sat cross-legged among the corpses, eyes closed.
He wore an intricately designed dark-red armor, with heavy boots upon his feet and a scaled tail trailing behind him.
As Luo Fan and the others stepped into the City Lord's Mansion, the burly man opened his eyes.
In his gaze flickered the weight of ages. A single glance could draw one's soul into eternal oblivion.
"Another five thousand years have passed," he murmured.
"I wonder how these new youngsters will fare this time. Let me take a look."
His vision seemed to pierce through layers of space.
His gaze swept across one genius after another.
It also passed over Luo Fan's various incarnations.
However, because even their souls had transformed into human ones, the man noticed nothing unusual.
Then his gaze fell upon Luo Feng.
"Hm? A clone?"
"This little fellow's luck isn't bad, he's taken over a Golden-Horned Beast."
"That's quite an impressive fortune, even by cosmic standards."
"Hm? A space-worm clone? And it's already at the Universe level? Interesting."
The Chaos City Lord's eyes continued scanning Bolan, Rong Jun, and the others.
He didn't linger on any of them.
Then his gaze landed on Luo Fan.
"Hm? A Mechanical Race being?"
"No… that's not quite right."
"This… is one of this youngster's clones?"
"Though this mechanical lifeform has no soul, its aura is almost identical to his."
"And this… is that a space worm?"
"No, not a true space worm."
"And so many avatars? No, these are incarnations!"
"Still, they're quite strong."
"This little fellow seems to have extraordinary fortune indeed."
"Not only multiple clones, but such unique ones as well, he must have gained some remarkable opportunity."
"Good, very good. The quality of this generation is excellent."
The burly man nodded in satisfaction.
Then, he slowly closed his eyes once more.
