{MINUTES LATER} {6:59 PM}

"Look, I'm telling you the truth. I'm not the reason Frankenstein keeps running away," Ash said, folding his arms while shaking his head, his eyes fixed on Wednesday. "Yes… I climbed on his back and exchanged some punches… that was it." He sighed as he noticed the growing silence. "How was I supposed to know that a tree would suddenly fall out of nowhere, slamming onto both of us?"

Wednesday remained unfazed by his explanation. Her eyes just stayed on him, mind continually calculating.

"Then why did you hide it?" she asked, noting the sigh that escaped from between his lips when she questioned him. "Why not tell me what happened when you encountered him? Why just say he ran away because of the rain?"

Ash just shrugged his shoulders, sweat nearly dripping from his forehead.

"I didn't think it was important." He clicked his tongue after realizing how crazy that sounded to her. "Okay, look, just trust me," he said, hoping for some kind of miracle. "I'm not hiding anything, and even if I am… It's nothing serious."

She paused when he said it, but the softness of his last words didn't go unnoticed. He was hiding something; something big, and she could tell. She could see right through him.

Wednesday stood up, eyes ignoring the faint smirk on his lips as she made her way to the closet.

She entered, grabbing the black dress Hand had stolen from a clothing store.

Then she glanced to the side, catching sight of Ash, who was staring at her movements.

So, she moved to the door.

THUD!

Closing it.

"Damn," Ash instinctively said, slightly disappointed that he'd lost his chance at a free show.

His eyes turned to Hand, who was creeping with the middle of his fingers, swinging them left to right as though he was oblivious to what was happening.

"Snitches get stitches, Hand," Ash said, smiling, sending shivers down Hand's bones for a spine. "Snitches get stitches."

{ELSEWHERE} {7:19 PM}

"Thank you," Emily said, taking a glass of blue, glowing juice from Eugene, who had done her the courtesy of getting it.

"You know," Eugene said, taking a sip from his, "you didn't have to do this. It's obvious you only agreed to go with me because Ash asked you to…"

"Yeah, don't sweat it," Emily replied, causing his words to stumble. "Besides, you honestly don't look half as bad either." She smiled as she noticed Eugene's visible smirk.

She then took a chug of the juice, finishing it in one go.

"So, what do you say?" She turned to him, extending her hand after placing the glass on the table to her left. "The entire school is spreading rumors that Ash asked out the Addams girl to the dance."

She grabbed his hand, which he was hesitant to extend.

"Help me forget about him," she whispered, and a feeling he had never felt before surfaced. His manhood, something he was sure only reacted on certain occasions, suddenly stood up, and at that moment, he could only thank the heavens that he was wearing underwear instead of boxers, because only he knew how much of a disaster the latter would've caused. "Make me not regret this decision."

She pulled him closer, moving his hands to the lower part of her waist, then, with their eyes still locked, she moved with him to the dance floor.

Hiding the agenda that the only reason she was being so nice was because Ash had promised her a Netflix and chill the next evening if she could give Eugene the best night he'd ever experienced in his life.

She was too far taken by his charm; even God knew that if she could, she would permanently trap him, whether it be through outright kidnapping or making him a father. All she knew was that she would do anything for a single chance.

Not knowing that, on the other side of the room, two people entered.

Two with so much aura that the entire section they walked through, from students to teachers, stopped whatever they were doing, completely fixating their gazes on them.

"Everyone is staring at you," Wednesday suddenly said, causing Ash to widen his eyes, dramatically pointing at himself.

"Me?" he questioned, nearly breaking into laughter. "You should really look in the mirror."

Yet, as he expected, Wednesday didn't reply. She just walked forward with the self-assured conviction that he would follow behind on his little stroll.

"Wednesday Addams!" a voice suddenly called from the side. "I didn't expect to see you here."

Interest flickered through Ash's eyes as a smell he didn't dare to expect embraced the hairs of his nostrils.

Although the scent was faint, he definitely couldn't mistake it.

So, he smiled.

Was it from interest, discovery, or surprise?

No, it was only because of chaos.

Something he had long since been forced to accept as his love.

And with that realization came a single word, one distant yet oddly familiar.

"Frankenstein."
