I'm such a damn fool, really," Li Chengfeng looked up, revealing his somewhat dull and lifeless eyes, then continued, "I only knew about the Little Rascals at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, but I didn't know there were also some at the FBI Academy... I must have been out of my mind two days ago to agree to teach at the New SHIELD Academy!"
"But you only taught one class at the beginning of the semester and then never showed up again."
Ada Wong calmly took a sip of her coffee.
"Nonsense, because I quit!" Li Chengfeng shot up from the floor, "If I stayed with those little rascals, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to resist hitting them."
"You already did."
Ada Wong looked at the exasperated Li Chengfeng and couldn't help but recall the chaotic opening day of the New SHIELD Academy two days prior... On that day, a host of FBI high-ranking officials gathered.
At the FBI Academy's matriculation ceremony, "Professor X" Charles Francis Xavier, who had just become the Dean of the FBI Academy, delivered the opening speech.
"Good morning, leaders, teachers, and students!"
"Bathed in spring rain, adorned with summer flowers! In this beautiful autumn, we gather to celebrate the merger of the FBI Academy and Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and the opening ceremony of the New SHIELD Academy! We will together usher in a brand new beginning! A brand new future!"
"First, allow me, Charles Francis Xavier, as the Dean of the New SHIELD Academy, to extend my sincere greetings and highest respect, on behalf of our FBI leadership, to the Agents and teachers on the front lines..."
Nick Fury and Li Chengfeng, sitting on either side of him, winced, feeling their brains begin to boil.
He truly lived up to his reputation as a veteran school principal; the length of his speech could rival that of a high school principal in the Republic!
The most impressive part was that he hadn't said anything useful for half the time.
Then followed various items.
Only one point was added after the speech.
Then this point was divided into twenty sub-points.
Each sub-point was explained in detail from three to five aspects.
Finally, before concluding, several key points still needed to be verbally emphasized.
Let alone Li Chengfeng and Nick Fury, didn't Mystique and Uncle Wolf both already put on their headphones and start zoning out!?
At the same time, they also realized one thing.
These senior Agents were perfectly clear when it came to intelligence gathering, investigating supernatural cases, or even going deep into enemy territory to solve problems.
But when it came to teaching, they were truly a family of amateurs.
Look at him, a big shot specializing in the education industry is just different!
He wanted to break down and mash every sentence for you, then pour it into your brain, fearing that you might not understand even a tiny bit.
The only drawback might be that he was too verbose.
Li Chengfeng was starting to feel like he was back in his high school days.
And Professor X's speech finally came to an end under Li Chengfeng's continuous prompting.
However, the very next sentence plunged the students in the lecture hall into despair.
"Next, let's welcome Agent Li Chengfeng, Captain of the Star Squad and External Liaison for the New SHIELD Academy, to speak! Everyone, please welcome him!"
Meow, there's more!?
Li Chengfeng was completely dumbfounded.
He remembered this step wasn't in the procedure!?
Li Chengfeng cursed inwardly, Professor X must have gotten carried away with his own speech and, seeing Li Chengfeng signal him, thought Li Chengfeng also wanted to say a few words, so he just let Li Chengfeng enjoy it too?
Caught off guard, Li Chengfeng had no choice but to turn on the microphone. Listening to the sparse applause and continuous sighs from below, he managed to blurt out only one sentence after a long while.
"The matriculation ceremony is hereby concluded! Dismissed!"
The students froze for a full second, then cheered and fled from this terrifying cage.
These poor kids were truly tormented by Professor X.
Some Mutant students even used their superpowers to escape this place of trouble.
But these were all minor details.
Overall, this opening was very successful. The addition of over a hundred young Mutant students injected fresh energy into this semi-paralyzed FBI youth training system... or perhaps, too much fresh energy.
Problems followed.
And the problems were not brought by the Mutant teenagers, but by the young recruits Nick Fury had scoured from all walks of society.
Peter Parker, Daniel Rand, Ava Ayala, Luke Cage, Sam Alexander, Tyrone Johnson, Tandy Bowen, and Doreen Green.
Are you a bit stunned just by looking at the names? Perhaps another way of saying it would be clearer.
"Spider-Man," "Iron Fist," "White Tiger," "Luke Cage," "Nova," "Cloak," "Dagger," "Squirrel Girl."
This batch included the characters Li Chengfeng was most familiar with.
This meant that the New SHIELD Academy was stockpiling many Superheroes in the making.
Among them were future frontline Superheroes.
A single glimpse reveals the whole picture.
Many heroes in this World are still in their nascent stages, waiting to be discovered.
And these few from the FBI were legitimate high school students, almost identical in their setup to the "Ultimate Spider-Man" anime, but quite reasonable in this merged Universe.
After all, from a public perspective, the concept of Superheroes had only recently emerged.
Harley Quinn wore a white lab coat over her ripped, hot-girl outfit. Although still quite insane, it didn't affect her status as the best Psychologist at the American General Bureau.
And as is well known, teenagers, especially those with special abilities, most need psychological counseling.
It might not be used, but it must be available.
She flipped through the student roster in her hand and suddenly pointed to a name.
"Wait, did this girl named Jessica Jones not sign in?"
Li Chengfeng was startled, checked the sign-in roster, and found that everyone had signed in except for this one person.
As for the name Jessica Jones, he was quite familiar with it too.
She was a representative figure of Marvel's street heroes and troubled teenagers.
After speaking, he opened his personal terminal and connected to a video call with Ingrid.
"Captain, any instructions?"
"Jessica Jones, a new student at the FBI Academy. Within five minutes, I want all her information, including real-time location, shared to my terminal."
"Consider it done."
Ingrid nodded, then hung up the call.
"It's just a student skipping class. Can't two Internal Affairs Agents go and handle it?"
"Are you crazy, or am I crazy... Oh right, you are crazy."
"Hey, why are you insulting me?"
"No, can any student Nick Fury scrounges up for the New SHIELD Academy be an easy target now? I strongly suspect that if we just send two Agents, they'll most likely get beaten up. So..."
"So?"
"So I'll just have to go myself, I'm just destined for a life of hard work."
