Each of Draconis Yi's fingers was claimed by a different sister—five hands, five hearts, five promises. The contract was set.
He glanced around the table, catching the blushes and shy smiles blooming on every face. No one cheered or squealed, but joy shimmered in their eyes.
Draconis Yi grinned, voice gentle but teasing.
"From today on, you're all my… provisional girlfriends."
The sisters blinked in confusion. Nino spoke up, blunt as ever:
"Why 'provisional'?"
"We haven't gone on a date, haven't kissed, haven't even held hands—well, until now. I only agreed in words. So, for now, you're all provisional."
He shrugged, lips quirking. "But don't worry. We'll make up for all that soon. Everything a girlfriend should get, you'll have—no exceptions."
His words sent a ripple of color across five cheeks.
Especially the mention of kissing—suddenly, the room was a mess of red faces and awkward giggles. The sisters dropped his hands, unable to meet his eyes.
Ichika, ever the composed eldest, recovered first. She smiled, brushing off the embarrassment.
"So… how about we set a date? Summer break's almost here, isn't it?"
The suggestion lit up the room.
They'd never gone out with Draconis Yi before—this was their chance.
But Draconis Yi thought of his looming Underworld trip and spread his hands apologetically.
"Summer break might not work. I'll need to head to the Underworld for a while."
The sisters stared, speechless.
Other people went abroad—Draconis Yi went straight to the Underworld.
Itsuki shrank into her seat, voice small.
"Is it scary there? How do you even get there…? Do you have to, like, leave your body?"
Draconis Yi laughed. "How should I know? I've never been either."
Ichika clapped her hands, undeterred.
"Then let's go before summer break! I've got it—let's go traveling!"
The idea caught fire instantly.
"Oh! A trip!"
"Yeah, let's go!"
"I'm in!"
"Sounds great!"
Draconis Yi blinked. "Wait—where exactly are we going?"
The quintuplets exchanged glances, then—
—in perfect disharmony, each blurted out a different destination.
Draconis Yi groaned.
"Are you five really quintuplets? Where's that legendary telepathy?"
The sisters, mortified, could only blush and hide their faces.
Ichika tried to recover, prompting, "Maybe it's time we visited home anyway…"
That did the trick.
"We could go back to the countryside…"
"Save money on hotels… My wallet's dying. Part-time jobs are brutal…"
Draconis Yi just smiled.
"I'm fine with whatever you decide. Lead the way."
Ichika leaned close, voice dropping to a mischievous whisper.
"Just a heads-up—there are hot springs. Want to see me in a swimsuit?"
Bold move. Draconis Yi eyed her, unsure if she was teasing or serious—her smile gave nothing away.
He chuckled. "Not interested in swimsuits. I'm here for the hot springs."
The other sisters stared, scandalized, then turned on Ichika with puffed cheeks.
"Hey! You're trying to get ahead again!"
Ichika could only laugh.
"I am the eldest, you know. You could give me a little slack."
Miku fired back, deadpan.
"If you're the eldest, you should be the one giving slack."
She was still sore about Ichika beating her to the punch on their last confession attempt.
If not for Ichika, maybe she'd have confessed first…
(Not that she'd ever admit her own nerves were the real obstacle.)
Nino cut through the bickering, hands on hips.
"Enough. This Friday after school, we head out. We'll get there by evening and come back after the weekend."
Draconis Yi nodded. "Works for me. I'll meet up with you then."
He'd planned to spend Friday with Yor, but he could reschedule—no big deal.
"Well, I'll head back now?"
Miku looked up, disappointed.
"You're leaving already…"
Draconis Yi smiled, eyes twinkling.
"If you want me to stay over, I could… Which one of you wants to get closer tonight?"
The sisters froze, glancing at each other, suddenly shy.
All that bravado—gone in an instant.
Draconis Yi laughed softly to himself.
Knew they'd chicken out.
"Heh, just kidding. I'll go home tonight. See you Friday."
He started to activate his teleportation spell.
"Wait—!"
Nino's voice rang out.
Draconis Yi turned—and Nino was already closing the distance, launching herself into his arms.
She pressed her lips to his, bold and unhesitating.
Itsuki squeaked, "Ah!"
Yotsuba, "Huh?"
Ichika, "Hey—"
Miku, "N-N-Nino—!"
The sisters shot to their feet, stunned, watching as Nino clung to Draconis Yi, kissing him deeply. Ten seconds—maybe more—before she finally broke away, gasping for breath, cheeks aflame.
But her eyes sparkled with triumph.
She turned to her sisters, flashed a victory sign, and grinned.
The others stared—some jealous, some frustrated, some itching to try for themselves.
Draconis Yi caught their looks and decided it was time to bail.
Before anyone else could react, he vanished in a flash of magic.
Any longer, and he'd never have escaped that apartment tonight.
