Chapter 16 - The Night Before

"I always hate Cinderpoint Valley, you know, never know what's watching." Hinari said as they reached an apartment block, the building was mostly run down, "You scared of creepy crawlers or something?" Lucan said as he led her up multiple flights of stairs, "No, just the derelict part of Cinderpoint." Lucan sighed before chirping, "Yeah, because the Queen herself is too posh for my house."

Hinari chuckled a bit as they finally reached the landing to Lucan's apartment, Ashlane House, C146. Lucan unlocked the door. It was a small apartment, a kitchen in the living room, two back rooms, one his bathroom, the other his bedroom. It was in relatively good condition compared to the rest of the derelict block.

"Pick a movie," He sounded out as he walked over to the small kitchen. She started to mull over which movie to pick as he prepared some popcorn, soda and some chocolates. She picked a movie as Lucan sat down, she finally took off her jacket and boots and sat on his lap as the movie started. When the movie ended, she was the first to speak, "That was terrible."

Lucan smirked as she shifted to look at him, "I mean, you picked it." Lucan said as he picked up her and shifted her off his lap, as he started to clean up the wrappers and soda cans, and she ate most of it. "You know, I feel like something ain't right." Lucan said as she scoffed, "If you're talking about you not eating most of the food, then grow up." Lucan laughed before reiterating, "No… Recently, I feel as though the Ashfell just isn't for me." Her jaguar ears perked up fast, "Lucan, Ashfell is for you, you met me, you met your friends, and you've done the impossible. Lucan, you can't throw it all away because of a few bad apples."

"It just doesn't feel right. Got a mission tomorrow, I'll tell you how it goes and whether I want to remain at Ashfell." She smiled, and for a second, it felt too good to be true, "There's something else, ain't there?" Hinari asked as he looked her in her eyes, "You're right. I've felt for a long time that you are the right one for me… Want to make it official?" She smiled before her face went grim, "Lucan… It's not that I don't love you. I just don't think it would be lasting…"
