Chapter 151 - A Parallel World

"A parallel world, but a very distorted one. Not only does the supernatural inhabit this world, but also killers specialized in killing…" Jonathan turned his gaze toward the clothing store, shook his head as he tried to erase his questioning thoughts, and went down the elevator to get back into his car.

As a global organization, the Church of Healing stands far above any other organization, but one that was on the same level was the High Table, known for practically controlling the world. But even they followed the established orders of the Church of Healing when their members were working.

Vaguely recalling who John was, Jonathan fell silent and, for the first time since he awakened here, wondered where the hell he actually was. It was a parallel world; there were exactly the same countries even though their names were different, but everything was the same, so it was not exactly such a drastic change to consider.

Knowing that all kinds of things and people who had once been only fiction were real, Jonathan was truly excited and wondered what would happen next in the future.

"I just hope that later on robots don't start fighting in the middle of the city…" Jonathan murmured as he started the car.

Viggo's mafia—this businessman who had been able to manage crimes in a subtle manner—had now taken the offensive against a single man whom many considered unbeatable.

Despite being a foreign mafia, its power in this country was so great that Viggo was respected by all men and criminals in the underworld.

There were records that his businesses included assassinations, robberies, smuggling, drug trafficking, the collection of protection fees, human trafficking, among many other things. They did whatever they wanted to make money. They were notorious and extremely cruel. Most people did not get involved with those people out of fear of the consequences.

Even so, if Viggo was pursuing John Wick, it meant that he was going to die. Anyone who got involved with that man would end up being killed.

In this world, Jonathan had a notorious disdain for crime; he repudiated those who caused evil and was willing to bury them with absolute certainty. But there were bigger things he needed to worry about, so he hesitated over whether or not to get involved in these problems.

He knew exactly part of John's story the moment he learned of his existence; it was as if a mechanism had been activated in his mind, and this was the first time something like that had happened.

He knew that John would cause a bloodbath just because of the death of his dog and the theft of his car. At first, everything progressed normally, but as time passed, John's life would become increasingly bloody.

Thinking about this, it was completely by chance that he had heard about John, since he was not connected to the human underworld; nothing related to the supernatural world entered his list of priorities.

Jonathan did not want to waste time fighting humans, so even though he supported John, he wanted to stay on the sidelines. Thus, after resolving some of his thoughts, he headed toward the church.

"Who knows, maybe one day I can give you a hand…"

…

Upon arriving at the church, Jonathan returned to his personality as a good priest.

All brutality in his gaze disappeared completely, and now he appeared to be a kind-hearted person.

As he walked across the altar, dressed in black and holding a Bible, he thought about everything that had happened since the last time he had been here.

"Killing, expelling, and cleansing…" Jonathan murmured, knowing that those were the three things he had done so far.

Exorcising and killing—those were just some of the most notable things he had done. He wondered daily what it would be like when all of this ended. Right now, his nerves consumed him, so he began smoking nicotine-free cigarettes in order to calm himself.

It worked, but it was boring, so he did it from time to time, but not very often.

After letting out all his complaints, he sighed deeply and returned to one of the confessionals.

He had to write a report on the things he had done over the past few days. As an exorcist priest, it was his duty to inform the Church of Healing about everything he did, and now that there was no more work, it was time to write the report.

First of all, job number one was the most detailed he had to write, because it was the most important. This was because the exorcism ritual is a very serious matter and involves a mysterious power that is still largely unknown; therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the person performing the exorcism has sufficient mental, moral, and spiritual capacity, as well as sufficient understanding of what is being done.

Of course, in case of emergency, the priest can decide whether to perform an exorcism depending on the circumstances.

"Exorcisms…" In a short time, Jonathan had written all the information about the evil spirit he had exorcised.

He was already very familiar with the procedure, but the only difference between him and ordinary priests was that he himself decided whether to exorcise or kill the possessed. Everyone was focused on helping, but no one considered whether it was too easy or too dangerous to do it or not.

As a ShadowBane and being the youngest to become an exorcist, what he was achieving so far were unimaginable things for others, but common for his family.

Regarding this point, Jonathan was also very surprised at first. The world was now in a modern era, but it did not display much of that modernity.

But the Church of Healing was, on some occasions, too rustic, because they had to send messages that directly involved the paranormal through carrier pigeons.

"Come on, boy, take this to the Church of Healing…" As he looked at this intelligent carrier pigeon, Jonathan had a tender look in his eyes. This carrier pigeon had been with him for several years and was like a companion to him.

When he watched the pigeon depart, Jonathan was about to return home when suddenly he saw an old man at the entrance of the church staring at him.

"Grandfather, what are you doing here?"
