(Meanwhile back at Star city)
Kryptonite-80 held the body of a different assassin, as she then crushed the skull before she threw the corpse away, looking annoyed.
Things have been getting slightly annoying. More of those masked organics arrived, which caused the fight to tilt slightly.
Each Kryptonite was fighting almost one against four at this time, although more than a dozen of the assassins were already dead.
Kryptonites were a special type of soldier Gem. They were more focused on strong, overwhelming attacks and wide-area effects using radiation. In pure damage output, they dwarfed almost all other kinds of warrior Gems.
Their beam attacks could carve through literally anything, which made a Kryptonite fitting for almost all situations. They can attack from afar, from mid-range with their spear, and at close range. But they lacked the ability to shrug off damage to a certain degree.
In short, they were not as durable as other Gems. Their high quality made sure their durability was the best possible amount for their respective Gem type, but it still fell a little short compared to other kinds of Gems.
And those assassins were cowards, avoiding attacks while only attacking when absolutely sure.
Kryptonite-80 glanced at the damage done to her light form with a frown. They would win, there was no doubt about it. But if things continued like this, then one of them may actually poof.
Glancing to the side, she saw her comrades. They were doing alright, but not as good as she hoped.
'Tsk… Cowards.'
After she pumped the radiation level up, Deathstroke, who was ready to dodge another rampage, narrowed his gaze since Kryptonite-80, who had been chasing him like a mad animal, actually stopped as she slammed the back of her spear on the ground.
Just as Kryptonite-80 considered chasing him, one of the Kryptonites who finished their battle poofed, at which the remaining assassins charged at the exposed Gem like starved dogs. That stopped her, as she went to protect the Gem without any hesitation.
Kryptonite-80 was still furious; she wanted nothing more than to kill everyone here. In fact, she would have loved to kill them all with her own hands.
But just because Kryptonite-100 was made the commander of the Kryptonites due to her being the strongest, that doesn't mean there was no understanding between the other Kryptonites.
The rule they followed was simple: "The strongest is the leader in the absence of a clear chain of command."
And it just so happened that Kryptonite-80 was the best of the present Kryptonites.
"Gems! Change of plans… Let's draw a circle!"
The other Kryptonites immediately disengaged as they moved. Meanwhile, the assassins, knowing something was happening, spread around the Kryptonites that took a circle formation.
Kryptonite-80's plan was simple: total absolute bombardment. It was a simple plan she made and agreed on with her fellow Kryptonites—the kind of plan that would cause the most destruction to a city of organics.
The formation formed easily, with each Kryptonite facing outward, holding their spear forward as they smiled in unison while their Gems started charging.
Kryptonite-80's Gem started glowing as she said, "…Let them burn."
Deathstroke at that second jumped backward towards an alley as he climbed one of the buildings in record time, while the assassins all began retreating at the same time, realizing slowly what was about to happen.
Unfortunately, it was a second too late. As all the Kryptonites' Gems started glowing, followed by the tips of their spears, each spear released a pillar of fire facing outward.
Ten pillars of absolute destruction were released at once, burning everything in their way, including all the assassins that were too slow to retreat.
Buildings, cars, and even a few civilians that had been hiding in their houses—in a circle of a few hundred meters, the Kryptonites did a complete extermination as their formation was glowing like a star made from green fire.
By the time the attack ended, all the Gems of the Kryptonites dimmed as they started charging up. After all, releasing everything in a single blast required their Gems to fuel up for a few minutes afterwards.
Leaving all the assassins dead with Deathstroke fate unknown
Kryptonite-80 was the only one who didn't attack, as she glanced around. The entire street was a dead zone; cars were melted and buildings had massive holes in them as they cracked and fell down.
Kryptonite-80 was considering the possibility of chasing that orange bug, but she stopped when she saw the Kryptonite beside her glitching. With an inner sigh, her hand moved to her fellow Kryptonite, saying, "You can poof… I will watch over your Gem."
Kryptonite-83 turned her head, wanting to argue that she was fine, but her light form glitched again for a long second, forcing her to concede as she let herself poof.
Kryptonite-80's hand moved and took the poofed Kryptonite, now holding two Gems protectively in one hand while saying, "Alright everyone… Once their forms reform, we can take turns poofing."
The Kryptonites who were about to answer were interrupted as Hal Jordan and Red Tornado arrived at the location, landing a few dozen feet away from the Kryptonites.
Hal Jordan glanced at the area with a grim expression, especially at the dead assassins who were nothing more than lumps of burned flesh, and the massive destruction to the city. He was about to snap, but Tornado, who was more logical, placed his metallic hand on Green Lantern's shoulder, saying, "…They are not heroes. They are soldiers. And from the small mental analysis I made on the few Gems I have seen so far, they have very little regard for organic life. I would advise that you complain to Pink Diamond instead of these Gems."
Hal Jordan's expression went a little darker as he said, "So what? I am supposed to ignore what they did to the city? Or the deaths? I have dealt with aliens with egos for brains before…"
Tornado answered, cutting Green Lantern off, "No. But talking to them would only start a needless conflict. My current theory is that the presence of Pink Diamond on this planet may have given her an appreciation for organic life. So talking to Pink with your complaints would be more effective."
"Pink's presence on Earth could be the reason for her different personality, but soldiers don't have the luxury to form opinions. I am sorry, Hal, but from a completely logical point of view, they were attacked and defended themselves."
Hal narrowed his eyes at Tornado, saying, "You call this self-defense? They massacred the city."
Tornado ignored Hal's anger completely as his metallic grip tightened on Hal's shoulder, saying, "They are not humans. Trying to use human morals would only make more enemies. And while Pink Diamond has shown to be quite reasonable in her normal mental state, I, for one, do not believe she would stand against her race for us. Which means any action you take could lead to a galactic conflict."
Tornado stayed completely monotonous, but the grip on Hal's shoulder showed that the robot was not asking: "I will not allow you to start an intergalactic war, Green Lantern. If you move now to avenge dozens who have died here, you may start a conflict that will kill millions."
"So, as a hero, I will have to stop you from not understanding the bigger picture, with force if necessary."
Hal's ring glowed brightly, but Tornado completely ignored him, continuing his words, "From one inorganic being, let me tell you that whatever words you say to them would not be taken kindly. So let's take them to their ship…"
Hal Jordan's knuckles were closed tightly, but Tornado already knew he won the conversation as he said, "So my advice is… Let's take them back to space so they won't cause more issues."
[[Pink Diamond (Mc) POV]]
'I can nuke the world!'
Pink would admit that it wasn't the most comforting thought that the first thing that came to her mind was destroying the world, but having a galactic-travel spaceship came with benefits.
After Pink stopped chasing the few Peridots and her excitement calmed down a little, she got a report from Emerald-108 about the ships, Gems, and a lot more, including plans for the new colony to take place, and much more.
Which led to Pink currently sitting on her command seat with almost a dozen floating screens around her as she took it all in, while Emerald-108 was standing beside the throne looking like she was a statue with her hands clasped behind her back.
The throne, or command seat, was in the back of the command room on slightly elevated ground. It was similar to her throne on Homeworld in the Steven Universe show. The mothership was massive—it was a literal colony moving in space.
The amount of possibilities that were suddenly made real was disorienting, even to Pink.
While Pink was in her own bubble of thought, Emerald kept an eye on the four Peridots sitting on smaller seats managing the ship.
Meanwhile, all the Kryptonites who came back with Pink through Lion's portal, and those still present, were sent to their guard routes on the ship, leaving only a few standing guard at different spots in the command room.
It was a position that the Kryptonites argued about regarding who deserved the honor to guard their Diamond while she worked. The argument broke into an all-out brawl between the remaining Kryptonites that was settled when Emerald all but gave them the equivalent of a death stare, as she then organized everything, challenging the Kryptonites to argue.
'White really went all out with this… The mothership was practically a floating tank.'
Pink's thought process came to a stop as she narrowed her eyes with small excitement. 'Should I give it a name? After all, Jack Sparrow would not be as great of a pirate story without the Pearl.'
It was easy to say Pink was already in love with the mothership. She was already imagining having a fight in space atop the ship against a legendary opponent, while the ship is dragged slowly into a burning sun!
The ultimate space classic… or even hitting lines like, "the captain goes down with his ship!"
'Maybe later… Food for thought.'
Pink's gaze turned to a different floating screen, reading it:
1. Emeralds (1)
2. Kryptonites (95)
3. Peridots (8)
4. Bismuths (10)
Total number: 114
The number was actually way less than she expected, but it was probably White's method of letting her actually do the work.
She can already imagine how the conversation would go if she asked for more Gems, and it would all lead to White telling her, "Make your own Gems, you lazy Diamond!" (Although in more polite, unnerving terms).
'No Lapis Lazulis meant no terraformers… So whatever planet she has to choose has to be suitable from the beginning.'
'Or at least not one that needs a complete overhaul.'
With a wave of her hand, the screens vanished, as Pink then sat in comfortable silence watching the main screen projecting a picture of planet Earth. 'I will need to say my goodbyes before I leave. Leaving with a good understanding between me and the League is important.'
'And maybe make sure to invite Shazam to visit my colony once everything is settled. I am sure he will enjoy a free space holiday…'
'Life is really something. A few months ago, I was just a human whose biggest concern was to live comfortably, yet here I am… An alien preparing to leave Earth.'
While Pink was thinking this, her hands moved as all the screens disappeared, leaving the one showing a projection of Earth, as she moved her hands expanding it until it covered her view.
'Earth… I will miss this blue orb.'
'Most of humanity's issues are self-made, from climate change and so on… But Earth was Humanity! Earth was home! Earth was something that every human would look at and think, Home!' Pink may have settled on leaving, but it didn't make it less emotional, in a way.
'Maybe I can settle for a colony on Titan? Should be free real estate.'
"And having a moon for a start should be more manageable. I can always choose a different main home-world later when I actually have more Gems."
"I suppose it is time to see if Raven got me that time spell or artifact that we agreed on."
