Chapter 13 - Shadows of the Ancients

The street was a battlefield of fire, shadows, and steel. Every member of Kael's team was battered, some lying on the ground, some barely standing. The hooded figures pressed in relentlessly, their glowing eyes cruel and calculating. Even Kael, standing tall and powerful, fought with every ounce of strength, but he felt he was alone against the overwhelming force. And its time for his backup plan.

A rumble echoed through the night, low and commanding. From the far end of the street, three figures emerged, moving as if the shadows themselves obeyed them. They were tall, imposing, and their presence seemed to bend the light. Kael's eyes widened slightly as recognition flickered across his face.

"The Ancient Ones…" he muttered.

The three moved forward without hesitation, weapons gleaming and power radiating from them. They were as strong as Kael, their energy crackling in the air. Together, they formed a wall, a shield of overwhelming strength, standing beside him.

"Kael," one of them said in a calm but firm voice, "we heard your call. We are here."

The enemies paused, taken aback for the first time that night. The hooded figures hissed at one another, sensing the shift in power. Yet they did not retreat. They pressed on, more aggressive than ever.

Kael clenched his weapon. "We fight together. No mercy!"

And then the battle surged. The team, inspired by the Ancient Ones, rose to fight. Arin's flames danced brighter, Mira's movements sharper despite her injuries. Dev and Nerion pushed back with renewed strength, Keiren darted through the fight with deadly precision, and Elias struck with controlled fury.

The clash was relentless. The shadows strike as steel met shadow, fire met darkness, and the Ancient Ones struck with incredible force. Every move they made was precise, calculated, yet raw with strength. One by one, the hooded figures fell under the combined might of Kael and his friends. The ground was littered with defeated shadows, sparks of magic fading as the enemies' numbers reduced.

Then Demora become more angry and fight with her maximum power. She moved with grace and deadly intent, her eyes glowing as she unleashed a storm of dark energy. She struck with the speed of a hurricane, forcing Kael and the Ancient Ones to defend as one. Her power was immense, unmatched by any they had faced tonight.

Kael's eyes burned with determination. "This ends now, Demora!"

The Ancient Ones moved in perfect synchrony with Kael. One blocked a strike that could have decapitated him, another unleashed a wave of energy that knocked Demora off balance, while the third created a shield to protect the weaker members of the team.

Arin and Mira, inspired by the teamwork, fought beside them with everything they had left. Sparks of flame and shadow collided with Demora's attacks. Every strike, every counter, was a reply for how far they had grown.

But it was clear that they could not hold forever. Demora struck with a final, desperate move, throwing Kael and two of the Ancient Ones back. The street shook with the impact, and Arin screamed as a burst of fire illuminated the chaos.

Kael's voice cut through the storm. "Now! Together!"

All four of them (Kael and the Ancient Ones) focused their energy, combining strength, speed, and precision. The air crackled with power. They struck at once, overwhelming Demora completely. Shadows and magic collided, screams echoing into the night.

From the perspective of the remaining hooded figures, the scene was terrifying. They watched as their most dangerous ally, the girl who had haunted them was cut down. Her fall was silent, but the aura of her power lingered as they felt the weight of her defeat. The enemies hesitated, panic flickering across their glowing eyes. They immediately carry her body, then they disappearing into the shadows before anyone could intervene.

"This isn't over! We will return. Revenge will come!"

As the darkness gone, the quiet of the city returned. Humans began emerging from their hideouts, blinking in disbelief at the situation and the team standing victorious. Broken crates, sparks, and scorched streets painted a vivid reminder of the battle that had just taken place.

Kael turned slowly, his eyes scanning his allies, bloodied and exhausted but alive. Then, he looked to the three Ancient Ones. His voice was low but filled with gratitude and fire.

"Thank you… all of you" he said, bowing slightly. His gaze hardened as he turned sharply toward the hidden corners of the street. "Arinnn! Miraa!"

Arin and Mira stepped forward, understanding the mistake that they made and the impact that of the mistake. Their clothes were torn, cuts streaking their arms, but their faces held a spark of relief. Kael's anger melted into concern, relief, and the lingering heat of battle, all in one glance.

The night was calm again, but only momentarily. Every member of the team knew the war was far from over. They had survived tonight, had defeated enemies that seemed unstoppable, but the darkness would return. And when it did, they would need to be ready.

Kael lowered his weapon slightly, turning to the Ancient Ones. "Arin , Don't ever repeat this. Mira.. You are the elder one , you know the consequences. Still you did it? This is your final warning. " He turned against the full team and said "We grow stronger together" voice quiet but determined. "But we must plan, and prepare. This fight… it was unexpected. Even I felt I am weak and gonna die. So we must prepare for what's coming next."

Arin flexed his hands, flames flickering faintly as he tried to steady his breathing. Mira adjusted her grip on her blade, her shoulder throbbing with pain, yet her stance was proud.

The three Ancient Ones nodded in agreement, silent but commanding. They were warriors who had fought countless battles, yet tonight they had chosen to stand with Kael and his team. Together, they had turned near defeat into a victory, and the lesson was clear. Strength, unity, and courage could overcome even the darkest of nights.

Kael turned back to the streets, watching as shadows lingered in the distance, enemies regrouping silently. He whispered under his breath, anger and warning intertwined.

"We will be ready. And next time, we won't hold back."

The night air was thick with the aftermath of battle. smoke, sparks, and the echoes of what had almost been a tragedy. Yet amidst the ruins, the team stood tall. They were battered, they were bruised, but they were alive.
