The shadows lengthened until the torchlight guttered out. Stone walls wept with damp, and the silence tasted metallic. I felt them before I saw them, the way the air grew heavy, charged, as though my own heartbeat had summoned them.

Riven's voice came first, low and jagged like broken glass dragged across silk. "You should have made sure I stayed dead, wife."

I spun, dagger flashing, but the torch behind me flared bright enough to show three figures stepping from the darkness.

Riven. Kael. Lucian.

Every nightmare given flesh. Every memory sharpened into bone and fury.

Kael's grin split wide, hunger flashing in his gold eyes. "Our little queen. Did you miss us? Or did you bury us with your shame?
