"You do not respond to a question with a question of yours." The Alpha Prime who had been snarling at me all afternoon chided, his nostril flaring as if he couldn't decide if I was insolent or was simply uncultured.
The urge to bite back at him was at the tip of my tongue but I held back. I had already made my point with him that I wasn't the type to simply nod while others dogpiled on me. He wasn't worth the effort anymore.
The hall fell into a moment of brief silence as I didn't respond to him. I wasn't sure why the sudden silence but some of the ministers looked like they were communicating through their mind-link. I waited patiently for whatever it was they were planning to bring up. Considering this entire trial was pointless—Kaedyr had said it was a meeting but I digress. This was more or less a trial—but wasn't it pointless if Kaedyr was going to do what he wanted anyway?
